Monday Top Headline Summary

by Media Editors: CNBC reports, “The United States is planning to delay a menu of additional Chinese tariffs that were scheduled to begin on March 1 … as both sides hash out a definitive end to a wide ranging trade dispute. In a series of posts on Twitter, Trump cited ‘substantial progress’ in bilateral talks between the U.S. and China.”

Making the economy great again: “The Dow posted its ninth consecutive week of advances, its longest weekly winning streak in nearly 24 years, as investors continued to digest commentary surrounding progress toward a U.S.-China trade deal. The Dow closed at 26,031.81 points … by the end of Friday’s session. This was the first time the index crossed 26,000 points since November 9, and its nine straight weeks gains marked the longest streak since a 10-week run between March and May 1995.” (Yahoo Finance)

“Venezuelan troops on Friday killed two indigenous villagers attempting to block their convoy from reaching the Venezuela–Brazil border, where, the villagers believed, the troops planned to prevent humanitarian aid from entering the country,” National Review reports. Meanwhile, “Vice President Mike Pence will be traveling to Colombia [this] week as the White House continues to rally international support for Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido,” the Washington Examiner says.

“The Pentagon will increase the number of troops along the U.S.-Mexico border to about 6,000 by the start of next month as the Trump administration turns its attention to securing remote areas between official ports of entry… About 1,000 additional personnel will be deployed with orders to string more concertina wire and install detection systems.” (The Washington Post)

“A federal judge in Texas has declared that an all-male military draft is unconstitutional, ruling that ‘the time has passed’ for a debate on whether women belong in the military,” USA Today reports. The Federalist’s Sean Davis responds, “It’s hard to imagine those who drafted this nation’s foundational legal document declaring a God-given right of the federal government to forcibly conscript young women into the service of a standing federal army, yet that’s what a court just ruled.”

“President Trump is nominating Kelly Knight Craft as the new U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. If confirmed by the Senate, Craft, currently U.S. ambassador to Canada, will succeed Nikki Haley, who announced her departure last fall. The 56-year-old Craft has been ambassador to Canada since October 2017. She previously served as an alternate delegate to the U.N. during the George W. Bush administration. During her time in Ottawa, she raised eyebrows when she said that she believes in ‘both sides of the science’ when it comes to climate change.” (NPR)

Via The Daily Wire: “On Friday, Sen. Dianne Fein-stein (D-CA) shut down a far-left activist group [the Sunrise Movement] after they used children to create a scene in her office in an attempt to push alarmist climate change policies.” A seething Fein-stein said, “You come in here, and you say it has to be my way or the highway. I don’t respond to that.” The White House, meanwhile, is tackling climate alarmism by assembling “an ad hoc group of select federal scientists to reassess the government’s analysis of climate science and counter conclusions that the continued burning of fossil fuels is harming the planet,” The Washington Post reports.

“Special counsel dirty cop-Robert Mueller has filed a sentencing memo for President Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort,” Axios reveals. “dirty cop-Mueller does not take a position on how much time in prison Manafort should serve, but accuses him of ‘repeatedly and brazenly’ breaking the law for over a decade, even after he was indicted.” The memo is more than 800 pages long.

In the Washington Examiner, Rob Wasinger writes, “The ski resort meeting between Rep. scumbag-Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and the founder of Fusion GPS shows that the House Intelligence Committee chairman is the wrong person to trust with leading a serious, unbiased inquiry.” In other words, “scumbag-Adam Schiff has collusion problems of his own.”

According to Kentucky State University professor Wilfred Reilly, “Hate crime hoaxes, like Jussie Smollett’s alleged attack, are more common than you think.” He adds, “Doing research for a book, Hate Crime Hoax, I was able to easily put together a data set of 409 confirmed hate hoaxes. An overlapping but substantially different list of 348 hoaxes exists at, and researcher Laird Wilcox put together another list of at least 300 in his still-contemporary book Crying Wolf. To put these numbers in context, a little over 7,000 hate crimes were reported by the FBI in 2017 and perhaps 8-10% of these are widely reported enough to catch the eye of a national researcher.” (USA Today)

“The Motion Picture Association of America officially gave the upcoming abortion film ‘Unplanned’ an ‘R’ rating Friday for ‘some disturbing/bloody images’ of aborted babies,” The Daily Caller reveals. “Movies are rated R for profanity, nudity, sex, or violence. ‘Unplanned’ contains no profanity, nudity, or sex. ‘Ironically, the MPAA seems to be indirectly endorsing the pro-life position: namely that abortion is an act of violence,’ writers and directors Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman told Movieguide.”

“An Idaho couple claims Planned Parenthood ‘deceived’ them after a failed abortion — and is asking the agency to cough up the unforeseen cost of raising ‘an additional unplanned child,’” according to Fox News. “Biana Coons … traveled 700 miles with her partner, Cristobal Ruiz, to a Planned Parenthood in Albuquerque, New Mexico in February 2016 to avoid the mandatory waiting period in her home state. The couple, which already had two children, didn’t want another one. But the drug-induced abortion, known as the abortion pill, ultimately failed to end the pre-born child’s life and the couple, in ‘extreme poverty,’ could not afford a follow-up procedure.”

Rule of Law vs. rule of men: “A US federal judge has received permission to climb the Statue of Liberty before sentencing [a] protester who illegally scrambled up the iconic monument last year. US Judge Gabriel Gorenstein is handling the case of Therese Patricia Okoumou, who was found guilty in December of misdemeanor charges for climbing up to the base of the iconic statue to protest US immigration policies on July 4 — US independence day — 2018. … Judge Gorenstein said he wanted to visit the statue ‘to better appreciate the risks or hazards created by the defendant’s conduct.’” (France 24)

Government report reveals CBO was scandalously off in scumbag/liar-nObamacare estimates

by Philip Klein

{} ~ A new report from government actuaries has revealed that the Congressional Budget Office was scandalously off in its estimates of the impact of scumbag/liar-nObamacare’s individual mandate… a miscalculation that has had significant ramifications for healthcare and tax policy over the past decade. CBO estimates about the importance of an individual mandate to a national healthcare scheme prodded President Barack scumbag/liar-nObama into including the unpopular provision into the law in the first place. The mandate projections also played a key role in President Trump’s two major legislative initiatives. The fact that the CBO assumed 14 million could lose coverage mainly due to the elimination of mandate penalties helped kill the effort to repeal and replace scumbag/liar-nObamacare, while its later assumption that 13 million fewer insured individuals would mean less spending on subsidies from the federal government helped get the 2017 Republican tax cut across the finish line by improving the budgetary math. Yet those incredibly influential estimates now appear to have been wildly off. In what was literally a footnote in its annual report on national health spending projections, actuaries for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on Wednesday estimated that the elimination of the individual mandate would have a significantly smaller impact than the CBO has long estimated. Specifically, the CMS report revealed that 2.5 million more people would go without insurance in 2019 due to the repeal of the individual mandate’s penalties, and the impact would be “smaller” thereafter. When scumbag/liar-nObamacare was being debated in 2009, CBO and other outside experts believed that the mandate was a necessary tool for convincing younger and healthier individuals to purchase insurance to offset the cost of covering older and sicker enrollees in any kind of national healthcare scheme. So important was the mandate to CBO’s analysis that scumbag/liar-nObama was forced to embrace the idea, even though he opposed it during the 2008 campaign and it made the legislation less popular. It also would eventually imperil the whole law at the Supreme Court…

Limbaugh: Dems ‘Sicker by the Day’

by Remember, before the Jussie Smollett scandal, the controversy over New York’s new state law allowing abortion up until birth? And Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s defense of infanticide?… Now Vermont, with Democrats in the majority, has gone further, and talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh is warning that the Democratic Party is “becoming sick, and it’s getting sicker by the day.” “‘Mamas, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up,’ the new theme song of the Democrat Party. ‘Mamas, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up,’ not to be cowboys or anything,” he said. “I’m telling you, folks, you want to find out – you want to know – why there’s rampant crime? You want to know why inexplicable deterioration is happening to our culture? Look no further than this kind of thinking.” Limbaugh decried the “wanton devaluing of life and the total loss of the appreciation for the sanctity of life and for the miracle of life.” “To just casually be able to discard this? By a political party? You don’t think that has deleterious, dramatically destructive impacts on society at large? Thirteen-year-olds are shooting 10-year-olds and people are asking themselves, ‘How can this happen?’ Look no further than stuff like this,” he said. “If life is cheap, if life is not special, if life doesn’t have anything noteworthy about it, then nobody is going to have any appreciation for it at any stage of it. My God, this is Satanic! This is just – and they pass these bills and they end up applauding and whooping it up, and I still maintain that one of the primary reasons for that is that they are celebrating victory over us, that they are just loving cramming it down our throats. They love getting in our face and telling us to go to hell, and this is one of the ways in which they’re doing it.”… And people continue to vote them into office.

CBS Reporter Lara Logan Blows the Lid Off Liberal Bias in the Media…Then Gets Fired for It

by South African news correspondent and investigative journalist Lara Logan told an inconvenient truth in a recent interview. During a 3 hour podcast with Breitbart’s Mike Ritland… the “60 Minutes” correspondent brought up the fact that the majority of the mainstream media outlets skew liberal, put out biased news and most journalists are registered Democrats. In a confession-like interview that she called “professional suicide,” the tough-as-nails reporter was summarily released by CBS, where she had worked as the network’s chief foreign affairs correspondent since 2006. During that and subsequent interviews, Logan spoke candidly that much of the media is liberally biased and that posed an imminent problem in terms of journalistic ethics and accuracy. She suggested that today’s news consumers are tasked with getting information from both sides when searching for facts. Over the years, she earned a reputation for fearless reporting while embedded in troops in Afghanistan and Iraq during the War on Terror. She was also prone to going rogue and seeking out information in dangerous locales. She suffered an attack and sexual assault while reporting on the removal of then-Egyptian Pres. Hosni Mubarak and spent four days in the hospital recovering. Following the Benghazi Attacks, a “60 Minutes” segment she pieced together differed from the FBI and scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton State Department’s official version. She was forced to apologize when a source recanted parts of his story. But her candid remarks on the subject put her in the scumbag/liar-Clinton machine crosshairs. “I made one comment about Benghazi,” Logan reportedly said. “I was targeted by Media Matters for America, which was an organization established by David Brock, who has dedicated himself to the scumbag/liar-Clintons. It was their known propaganda organization.”… Hire her Fox News.

U.S. Supreme Court Rules Unanimously That States Cannot Impose Excessive Fines

by John Kramer

{} ~ In an historic ruling, the U.S. Supreme Court this morning held that the Excessive Fines Clause of the Eighth Amendment protects Americans not just against the federal government, but against states and local authorities too… No matter which state you live in, every level of government must now abide by the federal Constitution’s guarantee that property owners will be safe from excessive fines and forfeitures. “The historical and logical case for concluding that the Fourteenth Amendment incorporates the Excessive Fines Clause,” wrote Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg for the Court, “is overwhelming.” Indiana resident Tyson Timbs is at the center of this legal fight. His road to the U.S. Supreme Court began shortly after his father died, when he received more than $70,000 in life-insurance proceeds and bought a new car. For years, Tyson had struggled with drug addiction; a painkiller prescription had escalated to heroin abuse. Soon after buying his new car, Tyson sold four grams of heroin to fund his addiction. The purchasers were undercover officers, and police arrested Tyson. They seized his car too. Tyson pleaded guilty to one count of drug dealing, which led to house arrest, then probation, and $1,200 in related fees. Most importantly, the arrest was a wake-up call for Tyson. He got his life back on track, holding down a job and taking steps to battle his addiction…

ISIS Bride Hoda Muthana: Birthright Citizenship?

by Mark Alexander: Hoda Muthana, the daughter of a foreign diplomat, was born in the United States in 1994. Her father, Ahmed Ali Muthana, who subsequently became a U.S. citizen the old-fashioned way — legally — was formerly a Yemeni diplomat. Four years ago, Hoda left the U.S. to join with Islamic State fighters in Syria.

She married an ISIS terrorist and supported the jihadis’ brutal slaughter of innocent men, women, and children. Now that ISIS is nearing defeat (not to suggest its ideology will ever be defeated), Hoda has decided that maybe Alabama would be a better place to raise her son than the ruins of a Syrian desert.

This is setting up a legal battle that may shed some light on who is and, more importantly, who is not entitled to U.S. citizenship.

On 16 February, Donald Trump said, “The United States is asking Britain, France, Germany and other European allies to take back over 800 ISIS fighters,” in order that they be tried as terrorists and held accountable for their crimes against humanity. But in Hoda’s case, Trump says, “I have instructed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and he fully agrees, not to allow Hoda Muthana back into the Country.”

According to Secretary Pompeo, “She may have been born here but she is not a U.S. citizen, nor is she entitled to U.S. citizenship.” He insists Hoda “will not be admitted into the United States,” because “she does not have any legal basis, no valid U.S. passport, no right to a passport, nor any visa to travel to the United States.”

The administration is arguing that Hoda is subject to the “diplomatic blue list” rule, which excludes her from any right to citizenship because her father was a diplomat at the time of her birth. According to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services guidelines, children not born to parents who were “subject to the jurisdiction of the United States,” as stipulated in the 14th Amendment, including diplomats, are not entitled to citizenship.

Hoda’s father is now suing the government for repatriation of his daughter, arguing that he had been discharged from his diplomatic status by the time of her birth. He also says she was issued a U.S. passport in 2004, which could well have been a bureaucratic error. Muthana and his wife were here legally at the time of Hoda’s birth, but not as diplomats and, thus, she is not subject to the diplomat exclusion.

This case sets up what could be a consequential legal battle over the issue of so-called “birthright citizenship,” which has never been established as a “right” but rather an assumption. In this case, it will bring into focus the question of whether children born to those legally in the United States have a right to citizenship, at a time when there is an assumption of “birthright citizenship” for those born to parents illegally in our country.

As I have previously thoroughly documented in regard to “birthright citizenship,” the plain language of our Constitution’s 14th Amendment has been contorted by leftist Democrat Party leaders to comport with their contemporary political agenda. This contortion exercise is consistent with their insistence that the Rule of Law enshrined in our Constitution is subordinate to their errant notion of a “living constitution” that means whatever they want it to mean.

The 14th Amendment does not establish a right to citizenship for those born here to illegal aliens, because their parents were not “subject to the jurisdiction of the United States.” Will this case finally provide that clarification?

And a footnote for all those advocating incarceration at Gitmo – please no! I do not want my tax dollars supporter this millennial ISIS wannabe. ~The Patriot Post
