When Bob Corker announced he would not seek reelection to the United States Senate, it set off a frenzy of moves in Tennessee political circles. Long time 7th District Congressman Marsha Blackburn announced she would run for Corker’s seat.
That opened up her seat in the 7th Congressional District.
And an amazingly good candidate has emerged.
Dr. Mark Green has been a state senator since 2012, flipping what was once a solidly blue seat red. Green has a solid record as a tax cutter in the state of Tennessee. He was the author of a bill that eliminated the so-called “Hall income tax,” which was a tax on unearned income in the state of Tennessee.
Green has also offered innovative suggestions, such was reducing the cost of state Medicaid by allowing patients to have control over their choices and if they can keep their medical costs down, they receive part of the savings.
In 2017, President Trump nominated Green, a West Point graduate, Army ranger and former Army flight surgeon, to be the Secretary of the Army. The left went bat guano crazy, launching a smear campaign against Green that eventually made him decide to withdraw his nomination.
Now, he is running for Congress in Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District.
2017 was not a great year for Congress. Congress had a number of great opportunities to advance President Trump’s agenda and did not do so. We need more conservatives in Congress who are willing to stand for their beliefs and to act.
Mark Green is one of those conservatives.
Tea Party Nation endorses Mark Green for Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District and encourages the voters of Tennessee to make him the next Congressman from the 7th District.
