Wamp got my vote with his opposition to the Crap and Tax bill. The Dems are going to push through socialized medicine which will put huge costs on the states. For us that will certainly mean a push by the left for a state income tax - again. I believe Wamp will be stronger against this than Hasslam. But's it's going to be a brutal fight no matter who gets the job.

Were those Monetary contributions or "Gifts in kind"? Sorry...little joke there!

Bobbi, Patrick and I were at a Wilson County dinner as well (I am guessing the same one). I also felt that Wamp was TOO much of a politician. Kickpatrick, while I like what he had to say, acted as if he had been hitting the hip flask a little too much before speaking.
So do you plan to vote for Ramsey?
I prefer to hear why people are voting FOR a particular candidate vs just shooting them all down. Besides, I begin to think "seminar caller" when I hear folks who don't seem to have anything good to say about our candidates.....
PS - this was a favorite tactic of Democrats during the last pres election & had the desired effect of suppressing our vote & thereby handing the country over to Obama.
I agree, De Van!
Well, kinda...I want to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly!
It'll get complicated! Probably no Knights in Shining Armor out there! But I'd like to hear from some enthusiastic supporters, and why they think that they have selected the best choice of all available.

The last election? Two leftists! I voted for the lesser of the two evils, but I was not enthused about it!
I am supporting Bill Gibbons. I used to work for Bill over at the DA's office in Memphis. He has some good ideas for dealing with the financial mess the state is in. On the negative side, he will not embrace state sovereignty. Wamp I simply do not trust. His ACU rating is the lowest of any TN rep. He was elected in 94. He promised 12 and out and broke that promise. I have met him on several occassions and asked him questions, only to get a deer in the headlights look. The questions weren't tough. "What state programs would you cut?" Sherry asked him one time about illegal aliens and why a friends child was in a kindergarten class where she was the only child who spoke English. Again no answer. Ramsey? After 3 years as LT. Gov, what has he really done? Very little. Finally, there is Haslam. He is a RINO. He would be like having Lamar as governor. If he is the GOP nominee, I will call for a state wide tea party convention and find a candidate to run under the tea party banner.
I talked to Gibbons for a few moments: seems nice enough. The Tenth Amendment I find important, though.

Ramsey is interesting in that he has not notably screwed up, remains below the radar (pun intended). Seriously, if speeding is one of his notable negatives, no problem! Not sure I liked his position on wheel tax referendums though. Tax payers should be able to squeeze the counties!
Somebody with a strong real estate background might be good: one of the root causes of the present financial difficulties. A non-governmental plus, I think

Wamp and Haslam both seem worse than useless.
Of all the hopefuls I've only met Ramsey in person, as only the second 2 term Republican Lt. Gov. (look it up....it's true) and his message/style were fine. With the gravity of the decision and REAL POSSIBILITY we could have a legitimate chance of having a "conservative" Gov. we must choose the BEST person possible (as we should always try to do). I can tell you anyone who is not in favor of states rights, gun rights, and balanced budgets is not getting my vote! Ramsey made this comment (Paraphrase) to me: "We need God Fearing, Baby loving, fiscal conservatives who understand individual rights in office" he also has fought the bond referendums that would put our state into defecits for the first time in our modern history. NOW more than ever having a balanced budget has and will continue to pay dividends to TN being ahead of the curve on economic recovery! I'm open to all of them, but enjoyed hearing Ramsey's common sense answers to questions that are not that hard to answer!

Just my 2 cents!

Dan G.
Judson, rather than have input after the GOP selects a nominee, is it feasible to suggest to the GOP that TPN members would like an opportunity to meet all Republican candidates? The GOP would probably have more to lose if TPN favored a candidate who was not the GOP pick.

Comment At Linda W

Well, we don't really have any good choices for Gov. Look what Wamp did in DC with the spending. That's not something we can turn a blind eye to. Haslam has done much better for Knoxville than I thought he would, but that still does not mean we have any good choices. I'm kind of sort of leaning to Wamp at the moment just because he's the only one I have at least heard pay lip service to Tenneessee and states rights. (he actually said we would meet the feds at the boarder if they did not respect our rights in refrence to the recent Tennessee gun laws)

Tennsesseans: Be aware that Bill Haslam, gubernatorial candidate, may call himself a Republican, but he's a RINO. He joined Bloomberg's Mayors Against Illegal Guns, before he withdrew. He WILL NOT support the Second Amendment, once elected. I am a Zach Wamp supporter, followed by Lt Gov Ron Ramsey.

"In the Republican gubernatorial primary, Wamp has been joined by state Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey of Blountville in criticizing Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam, the money leader in the nomination fight, for what they consider his soft stance on guns."
From the TDOT grape vine: Wamp in person was a Rear End to work with.
We will have to pick the lesser of two evils here.
