I know Col. West is not an official candidate, but it would be very interesting to see how much support he has among Tea Party members. You have Rick Perry listed, why not West???
If it's a tiny amount, that would tell us something important - he's not a viable candidate, but if he were to score well, that would mean Conservatives should take a serious look at him. It would mean that the current crop of candidates are OK, but not enough to energize the Tea Party public.
We all agree that some of the current GOP candidates are 100% RINO. Others may be conservative, but have the charisma of a warm noodle. Others have charisma, but not the gravitas to appeal to a broad base of the electorate.
Please add West's name to this poll. We need to see the whole truth, not a limited number of choices.

Permalink Reply by POX on June 30, 2011 at 2:02pm Has Perry stated he's running? He's on the poll.
It would be very useful to see the kind of response he would get. He was the most written in candidate on a recent online poll - by far.
71% of Republicans want more choices for POTUS in 2012. Why not list as many as possible?
I think Alan West should be on the ticket for President; I will vote for him if he is. He may not be running but as has been said this is the most important election EVER!!! Alan West has said this isn't his first rodeo in the middle east and that is very true. I think he has first hand knowledge of what is going on over there that we need in the man leading our country.
He also has shown himself to be an honorable man; willing to sacrafice himself to discipline in order to save his men. That's the kind of person we need for America. A man who is willing to go to the mat for America; and after these years of Obama who is willing to commit treason to ruin America, we absolutely need an honorable, truly patriotic man as our POTUS.
And I have never heard this man speak of his race; good man. This speaks volumns to me. I would love to see an America that is colorless.
And most of all this man is willing and able to speak up to Obama. That is so refreshing. Obama needs a good dressing down for what he has done to this country. Up til now he has been able to orchestrate his events so that he holds all the power. He has all the news media except Fox News at the tip of his fingers. When someone is able to debate him it will have to be someone who is not afraid to do it. I think Alan West is our man!
He just needs to be convinced that our country needs him now. We may not get another chance!

But the poll also has Chris Christie who has been adamant about NOT running. The most solid thing that West has said is... "I am not running at this time for the office of President".
Permalink Reply by Camilla on October 2, 2011 at 2:09am Neither has Christie or Palin but you have them both on this pole Judson. What gives????
Permalink Reply by David Swanson on October 1, 2011 at 11:55pm I have been wondering the same thing... Why was Congressman West left out of this poll????
I have worked the numbers. I have played out many scenarios. And, I have thrown in some variables that people don't even talk about, and every time I come up with Allen West being the only one that can beat Obama by the margins that will be needed.
Lucky for us (if he runs), he is probably the most qualified and honorable candidate out of the entire field. It would be an honor to call him my president!

Permalink Reply by Linda Cauble on November 8, 2011 at 6:55pm I totally agree about Allen West. He should be on this poll even though he's not an official candidate. I totally disagree that this country won't elect a true conservative.
Rolda - West apologized for that vote saying that he wasn't aware of the full scope of it and would not make that mistake again.
I believe that there is an underlying reason that West doesn't want to run right now - an underlying reason that he doesn't want to divulge lest he alienate those in power. I believe we will see him in 2016. This country needs his patriotism, his values, and his principles.
Permalink Reply by Walter T Jennings Sr on November 8, 2011 at 8:45pm Alan West and Herman Cain is an unbeatable team. Either or President and Vice President. I am hearing Cain has no experience in government and foreign affairs. Huh? I am sure either of these two have more than O'trouble. I probably can match him. I saw plenty "foreign affairs" in 20 years of active duty running all over God's creation putting out brush fires and chasing bad guys. I could have been one of the most qualified firemen going. I was an "armed fireman"
I emailed Mr. West a few weeks ago telling him to go for it. I and a whole lot of other people have his back.
