Hi guys, I just joined here. I was reading all the discussions which lead me way back to Gerold Cole's posting of Don Hank's article.

I'm not sure if Mr Hank is familiar with Frederick Bastiat, but from the first two paragraphs one might think so.

While Hank's topic went on about Christianity I thought I'd share Bastiat's "Candlemaker's Petition" below, where he is speaking of taxes, import/export duties, protectionism and general inept government interference in the markets.

Bastiat's observations come from the mid 1800's. It doesn't take a history major to know that politicians have been prone to meddle too much since they were invented, does it?

Knowing full well, the vast majority of Americans did not want this bill passed, they chose to ignore us. I know many of you have issues with Newt, as I myself do.
