Yesterday, there was a Quick vote survey on CNN.com about our Constitution.
"Should the U.S. follow Iceland's example and update its Constitution?"
It's down the page on the right.
My personal feeling is that our Constitution does not need to be updated. Our Constitution needs to be enforced. This is a back door attempt to get a dialog open that our Constitution is outmoded. Anytime a subject like this is started, some politician somewhere is going to decide that a revamp is the panacea for our troubles. Our troubles in this country have started because the Constitution is not taken as law but as someone's interpretation.
I personally don't give a rat's ass about what Iceland does with it's Constitution but I do about ours.

Permalink Reply by james krog on June 27, 2011 at 8:47am We certainly should not call a constitutional convention while the current administration is in power and can control the process. As you point out enforcement is key. Passing new amendments to protect or clarify our freedoms will be worthless while the tyrants in power ignore them anyway.
We need to remove those who trample the constitution from office and prosecute and jail them for their crimes We need to restore our justice system. What we have now is not justice , but merely a legal system.

Permalink Reply by Charley Kiser on November 26, 2011 at 2:31am I agree with you 100%. However, it is hard to get to that point when most Americans don't even know very much about our Constitution. It isn't taught in the public school system and hasn't been for a very long time. If all Americans actually knew about their rights as written in the Constitution, this country would be in MUCH better shape. It isn't so much that the Constitution isn't being enforced as it is that most Americans are ignorant of it's contents.
