The idea of a "Con Con" seems to be brought up from time to time as a solution to overcome all obstacles that have been constructed over time, in Constitutional law. It is not unlike somebody looking for a "fat pill" to fight their weight problem. It looks good on paper and at first glance, but you all know that if something looks or sounds too good to be true... it is.

Let's first consider when the last time a Con Con was held. It was not only the last time... it was the only time. It was the convention that created The Constitution Of The United States Of America, that we are all trying to learn, uphold, defend, and enforce. A Constitutional Convention requires 3/4 of all the states to come together in agreement that the existing Constitution needs to be basically thrown out and re-written, with "some minor alterations" to perhaps clean it up a bit.

Does anybody think that can happen in the best and fairest of political environments? The facts are that the existing administration in power, (and I emphasize the word POWER), with its progressive tentacles outstreched into every part of government, (and encroaching into the free markets), would be unrestrained to wrench the convention away from the well-intended, and bring about total "fundamental change." God forbid.

Consider this. The very nature of the Constitution is Conservative. It was created when a group of very wise and mostly Christian men came together in one mind, serving one purpose, to define a free nation of people. That was then. This is now. Who believes that could ever happen again? That is precisely why our Constitution is the most precious and powerful document written since The Holy Bible, and must be preserved as it was originally intended. If any changes are to be made, I would submit those changes be made in the society that has been moved away from its Constitutional moorings. If that society knew what each of us are learning here, from Publius Huldah, about our Constitution, the government of this nation would necessarily be brought back to its mandate.... not the other way around.

The fact is, the only restraint holding them back from their stated endeavors is the fact that The Constitution is, and has always been preserved, and that no political populist trend, fad, or passing power-hungry president have been able to re-create or modify our bedrock to suit "fundamental change."

The idea of promoting a Con Con is one that has come up more times than you might know. Each time, wiser, cooler minds prevailed. If a Con Con were to be accomplished, Pandora's box would surely be opened by powerfully placed people that serve other masters, (least of which have any value for America and her future.)

We must keep at it and never give up.  Our Heritage is worth fighting for.  But I do feel that the Stupidity coming from people on our side is drowning out intelligent discussion.
I think you speak the Truth; thou I suspect that a few R politicians support the BBA because they are stupid or haven't thought about it & are just going along with the other Rs; and some TP people support it because they haven't thought it through and are relying on DeMint, etc., to tell them the Truth.  But I believe that DeMint is either working for the Dark Side, or is the stupidest person who ever lived.

For those more interested in reading an article regarding the Tea Party Patriots leadership and their backgrounds, here is a link.  After reading this article, you will now have some idea of why this leadership of TPP thinks the way it does..

Thanks for the link, Bob. I never saw that one. All should read it now. It may disappear!

I would note that the myriad problems with Tea Party Patriots seem not to stem from the grass-roots membership, but are a reflection of the top tier's positions.

A blog here at TPN with many links in the replies outlining many of these problems is entitled ONE MILLION DOLLAR ANONYMOUS DONATION

It must be noted that an inordinate number of the links provided there are now broken. It has been reported that some of these were taken down because of lawsuits and/or threats thereof.

Also note that right here a cooperative effort between 4 of the largest TP groups is described, without much  funfair last week. Please note that this one group is not mentioned: not invited.. Simply put, they've gone out of their way to damage all other groups whenever possible. Stay tuned!

Dear God:  Please save us from the ignorant who clamor for things they do not understand.

I agree with this completely Dallas.

George Soros is funding a group without calling for a con con and wanting to do it by Executive Power.  Eric Holder is involved with it to the point of rewriting the bill of right making it a socialist bill of rights.

George Soros as you know is a New World Order agent and those of the New World Order want get read of our constitution completely.

This excellent article is by my friend Kelleigh Nelson, an investigative reporter (Yes, we still have at least one left):

http://www.newswithviews.com/Nelson/kelleigh147.htm

It's about the 2 day "conference" at Harvard Univ. hosted by a hard core leftist, radical homosexual, and obama mentor  during September 2011; and attended by a representative from the inaptly named "Tea Party Patriots"  where they all came out in favor of a con con.
