We can not understand the proper relationship between us and the federal government unless we understand that our Rights have a Source which trancends, pre-dates & pre-exists  the Constitution.

PH,

I for one Have read everything I can find. I keep a tab open on my computer for the Constitution, The Federalist Papers, Wall Builders, and CFP. I have taken your posts to heart and they are changing the way I look at things. Please do not get discouraged you can be sure you are at least teaching one.

Thank you, David.  I just wish more people understood that learning new stuff takes work.  When I started reading The Federalist Papers 50 years ago, I had to outline them - I had little idea what they were talking about.  Any time I learn a new subject, I have to make outlines, carry around memorization sheets, etc.

My grandfather taught me a valuable lesson:  "Genius is 99% perspiration, and 1% inspiration".   Truer words were never spoken.  I have sweated oceans in my life.

OK!  Now I am going to sweat an ocean over the DOMA issue - and try to figure out how to explain "checks & balances" to Rush Limbaugh and the Folks.

I understand fortunately the concept of meditation is not new to me.  Twenty five years ago I began thinking deeply about Galations 2:20...   and I'm not done with it yet :)

Please don't be discouraged, You have been blessed with the skill and opportunity to teach.  If I may say what we do or fail to do should not affect you at all.  Take heart my friend you are making a difference.

I pray you enjoy much zoe and agape

Here is a horrific example of what's being offered to our kids over the web concerning "rights".  In addition all of the teaching "materials" are "free" to teachers, imagine that.

Forgive me, I don't have the courage to look at the link now.  I'm afraid I would go hide under the bed.

That our rights pre-date & pre-exist the Constitution - they they are gifts from God [or for the non-theists, that they comprise part of the "Natural Law"] - is the single most important concept for people to grasp.

Only then can they understand that our Rights protect us from the government - our Rights are the boundary which governments may not cross.

Oh my Dear Publius,

You have no need of my forgiveness.  The material in this link would make you ill, better you continue to focus on helping us with our Constitution.  I should not have posted the link, I should ask you to please forgive me.

Concerning our pre-existing rights you may recall I am also convinced “Natural Law”, “is the single most important concept for people to grasp”.  In my case my focus revolves around John Locke’s explanation of the topic.

With your permission I will send you the material I have for your review and consideration.  Or as you see fit I will judiciously post the material here under this blog.

With all respect and admiration

whoah!!

Here is the speech on the origin of Rights I gave at the Tennessee Eagle Forum Oct 15.  It's on you-tube in two parts:

I know.....my voice sounds funny.  But what I say is so contrary to the conventional wisdom that I can not rush thru it.

Publius...

I just watched your vids on this subject and thoroughly enjoyed them. You clarity, precision and reasoning were flawless.

Great job.
Thanks, Ripama!  I've been wondering how you are.  Glad to hear from you.
I'm fine thank you...I hope all's fine well with.you.
