Posted this on my site, An Ol' Broad's Ramblings, a few days ago, and didn't get one single comment. We are in a battle for our very survival, yet no one seems to see it. I'm very baffled. Is arguing about the merits, or lack of, unions more important than our very souls?
1 Samuel 7:3 ~
And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the LORD, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.
You might be asking why I'm posting that verse from I Samuel. Well, I'll tell ya! First, read the passage again. If you are Christian, or Jewish, you will see a few things that are quite familiar in the US of today.
1- "
return to the Lord" - As a nation, we have moved so far from our founding roots, those who fought and died for this nation to even exist, would not recognize it. Contrary to what so many would like to believe, and do their utmost to convince others, we ARE a nation founded on the principles of God Almighty!
2- "
put away the strange gods" - This phrase covers a LOT. What are the 'strange gods' in today's world? Money, power, Ipods, alcohol, smokes, drugs, the idjit box that brings in commercials about feminine hygiene, ED, etc., and American Idol. Obviously, the list is long. We don't think of these types of things as 'gods', but when they control your life, they become as such.
Thou shalt have no other gods before me. He wasn't kidding!
3- '
serve him only' - You can't serve two masters. It just doesn't work! If you follow the teachings, then you can't say well, but this is good too. No, if it's not from God, it's not good. You can dispute that all you want, but you won't be able to convince me otherwise.
Now, as to the reason for all this. If we do not return to our founding of Natural Law, we will fall, as many other great nations have fallen.
I know there are a lot of people who say churches are hypocritical, and filled with hypocrites. Guess what! Very many are! Yup. I said it. A whole lot of churches have totally forgotten the reason for THEIR foundations. A church isn't about the rituals, who is wearing what, who gives the most money. It's about GOD! The sooner a whole slew of churches remember this, the better this country will be. If God doesn't accept something, neither should churches! It's that simple.
I will repeat what I've said many, many times: This isn't about right and left. It's about right and wrong, good and evil. Why are we allowing evil to get the upper hand? It' is way past time for us all to hit our knees, and pray that God will forgive us for being such arrogant jackasses!
