Friday News Executive Summary

Jordan Candler  Above the Fold

Yesterday, the House Intelligence Committee’s Russia-probe transcripts went public. Chairman scumbag/liar-Adam Schiff claims they “show precisely what Special Counsel Robert Mueller also revealed: That the Trump campaign, and Donald Trump himself, invited illicit Russian help, made full use of that help, and then lied and obstructed the investigations in order to cover up this misconduct.” But in 2017, former acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe conceded: “There is a lot of information in the [Christopher] Steele reporting. We have not been able to prove the accuracy of all the information.” And in 2018, the former director of national intelligence, James Clapper, acknowledged: “I never saw any direct empirical evidence that the Trump campaign or someone in it was plotting [or] conspiring with the Russians to meddle with the election.” Care to amend your statement, Mr. scumbag/liar-Schiff?

“The Justice Department on Thursday said it is dropping the criminal case against President Donald Trump’s first national security adviser, Michael Flynn,” the AP reports. We recently explained how the FBI leadership cabal targeted Flynn using entrapment. Kimberley Strassel calls this “huge, overdue, and ultimately … justice.” For the most part, yes. But for wholesome justice, maybe Trump should nominate Flynn for FBI director.

Today’s jobs report for April calculates that 20.5 million jobs were lost last month and the unemployment rate ballooned to 14.7%. “Both numbers easily smashed post-World War II era records,” according to CNBC. However, CNBC also notes, “Stocks rose Friday even after the ugliest monthly jobs report ever as investors bet the worst of the coronavirus and its impact on the economy has passed.”

“The Texas Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the release of salon owner Shelley Luther, who was jailed for opening in violation of the state’s rules, as Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order retroactively eliminating jail time as a consequence for violating the state’s coronavirus restrictions,” Fox News reports. Allie Beth Stuckey wryly observes, “Isn’t it funny how ‘we need to release people from jail so they don’t get COVID’ applies to rapists and pedophiles but not hair stylists?” Gary Bauer also sadly points out, “If she were in California, Illinois, or New York, she’d still be in jail.”

A 1996 court document was dug up by the San Luis Obispo Tribune in which the ex-husband of Tara Reade attested: “On several occasions [Tara] related a problem that she was having at work regarding sexual harassment, in U.S. Senator loose lips liar-Joe Biden’s office. [Tara] told me she struck a deal with the chief of staff of the senator’s office and left her position.” Recall also Tara’s claim that her mother called into “Larry King Live” and divulged the incident in August 1993. To be clear, none of this evidence is conclusive. But circumstantial evidence doesn’t get anymore damning than this.

Sources say Russia probe transcripts affirm officials came up empty on collusion: ‘scumbag/liar-Schiff is in panic mode’

By Brooke Singman{ } ~ Transcripts of House Intelligence Committee interviews that have been cleared for release show top law enforcement and intelligence officials affirming they had no evidence of collusion… between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 election, senior administration and intelligence community officials told Fox News on Wednesday. This would align with the results of former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation — which found no evidence of illegal or criminal coordination between President Trump, the Trump campaign and Russia in 2016 — but the numerous transcribed interviews could raise further questions about committee Chairman scumbag/liar-Adam Schiff’s past statements saying that there was “direct evidence” of collusion. “scumbag/liar-Schiff is in panic mode,” a senior administration official told Fox News. Earlier this week,  House Republicans sought over 6,000 pages of transcripts pertaining to interviews conducted by the committee in 2017 and 2018, after the panel in September 2018 voted on a bipartisan basis to approve their public release. A day later, acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell notified scumbag/liar-Schiff, D-Calif., that the redaction and declassification process was complete, and that the records were ready for release, putting the ball in scumbag/liar-Schiff’s court. However, intelligence officials told Fox News on Wednesday that scumbag/liar-Schiff has had his subcommittee staff director reaching out to heads of intelligence community agencies asking how Grenell was involved and what role Grenell — a known Trump ally — may have played in the declassification and redaction process. Fox News is told, however, that the redactions were completed before Grenell took the helm as acting director this past February. The process, according to an intelligence community official, took place under both former directors Dan Coates and Joseph Maguire, and was conducted by career intelligence officials. The official also told Fox News that the relevant heads of appropriate agencies were consulted on the declassifications and redactions of all 53 transcripts. Grenell, in a letter to scumbag/liar-Schiff dated May 4, wrote that the review of 43 of the 53 transcripts “was completed in June 2019,” and that the “interagency review of the remaining ten transcripts has been completed.” Grenell added, “pursuant to your guidance, these transcripts have not been shared with the White House.” The remaining 10 transcripts included interviews with President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., former adviser Steve Bannon, the president’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner, Trump aide Hope Hicks and former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski…

loose lips liar-Biden to Resume Funding of Palestinian Authority

By Meira Svirsky{  } ~ Democrat presumptive nominee for president loose lips liar-Joe Biden announced that he would restore U.S. funding to the Palestinian Authority if elected… Congress cut most of the U.S. tax payer-funded assistance to the Palestinian Authority due to its support for terror. The Palestinian Authority pays stipends to families of jailed or dead terrorists. The scale of the payments depends on how “successful” the terror attack was. In 2018, Congress passed the Taylor Force Act forbidding U.S. tax dollars to be sent to the Palestinian Authority (PA) while the PA is still engaging in what has become known as “pay for slay.” President Trump signed the bill into law. Taylor Force, a U.S. army veteran, was murdered by a Palestinian terrorist while on a college trip in Israel. In open defiance of the U.S., the Palestinian Authority has made it clear that it will continue this policy. In a statement to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, loose lips liar-Biden said, “I will reopen the U.S. consulate in East Jerusalem, find a way to reopen the PLO’s diplomatic mission in Washington, and resume the decades-long economic and security assistance efforts to the Palestinians that the Trump administration stopped.” The PLO’s mission in Washington was closed because of a congressional mandate that obligated the U.S. to close the mission if the Palestinians tried to bring charges against Israel at the International Criminal Court. The Palestinians did just that, and the Trump administration closed the mission — as per their legal obligation. In addition to cutting funding of the PA due to the Taylor Force Act, the Trump administration cut most of the funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), an agency dedicated to helping Palestinian refugees from Israel’s War of Independence in 1948. UNRWA operates mainly in the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian area that elected the terror group Hamas to govern it. UNRWA has a history of being complicit with Hamas and facilitating terror against Israeli citizens. Since the U.S. embassy moved to Jerusalem, it opened a special Palestinian Affairs Unit to take care of the needs of Palestinians…

President receives 72 recommendations for Netanyahu

By GIL HOFFMAN{ } ~ Representatives of Likud and Blue and White submitted 72 signatures of MKs recommending that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu form the next government to President Reuven Rivlin on Thursday late afternoon… The bills were supported by the MKs in Netanyahu’s Right-Center bloc, except for the MKs of Yamina, who absented themselves, because it is still unknown whether it will enter the coalition.  Netayahu and Yamina leader Naftali Bennett failed to make any progress in a conversation on Thursday. Rivlin received the signatures but did not immediately grant Netanyahu the mandate to build a governing coalition. Instead, he said the signatures would have to go through the formal process of being checked before the mandate is granted, which could end Thursday night but might not end until Sunday or Monday. “I hope Israel will soon have a government that will deal successfully with the complex challenges that stand before us,” Rivlin said, noting the dual crises of the political stalemate and the impact of the coronavirus. Earlier, the Knesset plenum passed into law all the bills required for the formation of a new government on Thursday morning by a hefty majority, clearing a major hurdle that will allow Israel to have a fully functioning government for the first time since December 2018. The bills were supported by the MKs in Netanyahu’s Right-Center bloc, except for the MKs of Yamina, who absented themselves, because it is still unknown whether it will enter the coalition. Blue and White and Labor MKs voted in favor, except for Labor MK Merav Michaeli, who opposes the government. The same MKs who voted for the bills signed the recommendation to Rivlin. The bills were necessary for Blue and White to be able to recommend Netanyahu to form a government by Thursday night’s deadline to prevent a fourth election.  Presumptive opposition leader Yair Lapid responded that “never have so few people misled so many people for such pathetic reasons.”…

Justice Dems Open Big-Money Floodgates With Formation of New Super PAC

By Joe Schoffstall{ } ~ Justice Democrats, a far-left political group associated with the commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wing of the Democratic Party, has quietly formed a super PAC… The move opens the big-money floodgates for a group that routinely lambasts the “power of large corporations, billionaires, and wealthy campaign contributions in our democracy.” Natalie Trent, treasurer of the Justice Democrats PAC, informed the Federal Election Commission on May 1 that the group is creating a new account that is able to collect unlimited contributions from corporations and labor groups. The new super PAC will operate alongside Justice Democrats PAC, a traditional PAC. But while the latter cannot collect donations in excess of $5,000 per election cycle, the new super PAC is free to collect unlimited sums from big-money donors, which runs counter to Justice Democrats’ political platform and founding principles. The group has called for public financing of elections and the “removal of the corrupting influence of corporate and big money in our democracy.” “This committee intends to establish a second bank account to deposit and withdraw funds raised in unlimited amounts from individuals, corporations, labor organizations, and/or political committees,” Trent wrote in a letter to the FEC. “The funds maintained in this account will not be used to make contributions, whether direct, in-kind, or via coordinated communications, or coordinated expenditures, to federal candidates or committees.” Trent and Justice Democrats did not respond to inquiries on whether the super PAC’s formation contradicts the group’s reform proposals. The Justice Democrats PAC, which was instrumental in pushing commie-Ocasio-Cortez into office, has so far collected $2.2 million in contributions for the 2020 cycle. Last year, the group came under fire for transferring $1 million to two limited liability companies that were started by Saikat Chakrabarti, a cofounder of the group who went on to become comkie-Ocasio-Cortez’s chief of staff in her Washington, D.C., office.  Chakrabarti is not the only founding member of Justice Democrats to benefit from transfers from the PAC. Zack Exley, another Justice Democrats cofounder, helped create a firm called Middle Seat Consulting in early 2017. Justice Democrats PAC paid Middle Seat hundreds of thousands of dollars and still has Exley’s firm on its payroll. commie-Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign also dished out $200,000 to the firm in the third quarter of 2019.

Supreme Court unanimously reverses ‘Bridgegate’ convictions

By Ronn Blitzer{ } ~ The Supreme Court on Thursday threw out the federal convictions of former New Jersey officials Bridget Kelly and Bill Baroni… who had been charged with fraud for closing lanes on the George Washington Bridge under false pretenses for political purposes. The court recognized that the lane closures, known commonly as “Bridgegate,” were done as political payback against the mayor of Fort Lee, N.J. for not supporting the reelection campaign of then-Gov. Chris Christie. The problem, the court pointed out, is that this is not a violation of the federal fraud statutes under which the defendants were charged.” The question presented is whether the defendants committed property fraud. The evidence the jury heard no doubt shows wrongdoing—deception, corruption, abuse of power,” Justice Elena Kagan wrote in the court’s unanimous opinion. “But the federal fraud statutes at issue do not criminalize all such conduct.” The problem with the convictions, the court pointed out, is that the goal of the scheme was not to obtain money or property, which is a necessary element of the federal fraud statutes involved. Emails showed that Kelly wanted to “create a traffic jam that would punish” the mayor of Fort Lee and “send him a message,” and that as a cover for this, Kelly, Baroni, and Port Authority official David Wildstein said the lane closures were part of a traffic study, even asking the Port Authority for data after the fact in order to back up the story. Wildstein pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges, while Kelly and Baroni were convicted by a jury. Federal prosecutors claimed that the fraud statutes were satisfied because Kelly and Baroni were trying to commandeer physical parts of the bridge, and to obtain Port Authority funds necessary to pay traffic engineers for the study and back-up toll collectors to make the lane closure possible. “We cannot agree,” Kagan wrote, explaining that the lane closure  “was a quintessential exercise of regulatory power,” not a scheme to obtain property, and that taking Port Authority funds to pay for the closures and study “was incidental to” their plot, not the objective. “Not every corrupt act by state or local officials is a federal crime,” Kagan concluded.  “Because the scheme here did not aim to obtain money or property, Baroni and Kelly could not have violated the federal-program fraud or wire fraud laws.” The resolution comes after the controversy exploded into a political scandal for Christie himself, even as he denied involvement and was never charged in connection with the case.

Is Iran Going Home?

By Shoshana Bryen{ } ~ If you are Iran, it seems, 2020 is not your year. Aside from the devastation of the Wuhan virus, Iraq closed its 1,000-mile southern border with Iran for “security reasons” after months of Iraqi protests against Iranian interference in its domestic affairs… Oil prices flirted with zero in the wake of the Russia-Saudi oil war, and demand dropped owing to the virus, further gutting Iran’s treasury. Iran harassed U.S. Navy ships in the Persian Gulf, but according to Navy sources, the action was clearly for domestic consumption and posed no actual threat although a mistake on either side could have had major repercussions, making President Trump’s warning more than reasonable. Germany, Tehran’s strongest defender in Europe, pulled the plug on Iran’s proxy army Hezb’allah. More than 390 members of the U.S. House of Representatives — including worthless-Ilhan Omar, not normally an opponent of the Iranian government — called for extending the international arms embargo against Iran, set to expire in October.  Iran’s Quds Day celebration has been canceled. The rallies and marches, an annual celebration of anti-Semitic glee, with their slogans and speeches and the “death to Israel” chant, will not take place in 2020, although the Iranian public has been assured that the supreme leader will make a speech. And in Syria, things are blowing up. That is not unusual. The Syrian civil war — primarily a proxy war for Russia, Turkey, and Iran — decimated the country beginning in 2012. Large-scale fighting ended in 2018, but even now, the Syrian government drops  chemical and other weapons on its civilian population in the remaining holdout territory. Turkey has attacked Kurdish enclaves in northern Syria and in March 2020 declared an offensive against the government of Bashar Assad. Sometimes the source of the bombs is not announced. The Scientific Studies and Research Center in Aleppo, where Western intelligence and opposition sources suspect that Iranian researchers work on chemical weapons, was hit this week. A Hezb’allah base in southern Syria was hit last week, as was an ammunition depot near Homs.  Al-Arabiya reported that air strikes targeted sites belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), and, in a Jerusalem Post report, targeted sites included bases for Hezb’allah and the elite Syrian Republican Guard. While Israel generally neither confirms or denies responsibility for things popping off in Syria, it is true that Israel, undeterred by the domestic ramifications of the Wuhan virus, maintains self-declared “red lines” in Syria…

.The Flynn Timeline

 Gary Bauer

As we reported yesterday, new documents in the case of Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn show that the FBI set out to entrap him. Other materials create a chronology of events that is very revealing and disturbing. Here’s what we have learned:Elements of the Deep State had been investigating Michael Flynn for some time in 2016.Thursday, news broke that FBI officials drafted a memo on January 4 expressing their intent to close the investigation on Flynn because they found no evidence of wrongdoing.Within minutes of this memo being circulated, Peter Strzok emailed the case agent, “Hey, if you haven’t closed [the Flynn case] don’t do so yet.”The case agent replied, “What’s up?” and Strzok answered, “7th floor involved.” For those not intimately familiar with Washington, DC, that’s where the offices of the FBI’s top officials (scumbag-James Comey and Andrew McCabe) are located.Twenty-four hours later, scumbag-Comey went to the White House. He met with Barack scumbag/liar-nObama, loose lips liar-Joe Biden, liar-Susan Rice, and liar-Sally Yates. At that meeting, scumbag-Comey was instructed to go to New York to brief President-elect Trump about the Steele dossier. On January 6, scumbag-Comey told Trump about claims that the Russians have lurid information they could use to blackmail him.Of course, we now know that the Steele dossier was a pack of lies paid for by the Clinton campaign and full of Russian disinformation. And the FBI knew that it was false information that couldn’t be trusted, yet it used it to undermine Trump.Once scumbag-Comey had briefed Trump, the Deep State started leaking. Within days, just before the inauguration, there were multiple stories about the dossier and the ongoing investigation into whether the president-elect colluded with Russia or was compromised in some way.And the rest is history. All this ended up consuming the first three years of the administration. But wait… There’s more.A Preemptive Strike?National security expert K.T. McFarland said Thursday that Gen. Flynn and Donald Trump were deeply concerned about the growing power of America’s intelligence agencies, as well as the increasing evidence that they were encroaching on the civil liberties of the American people.McFarland said Flynn had a plan to reorganize and reform all 16 intelligence agencies, to cut out the fat, and to safeguard civil liberties. She believes that the Deep State launched “a preemptive strike against Flynn” in order to protect their “fiefdoms.”Now let me remind you of one more thing. Let’s back up to January 3, 2017.That’s when Sen. Chuck scumbag-Schumer infamously warned that President-elect Trump was “being really dumb” to publicly fight with the intelligence community. Schumer said, “Let me tell you: You take on the intelligence community — they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you.”The Other SideKudos to President Trump for a tremendous job at Thursday’s press conference!During an event highlighting the administration’s efforts to protect America’s seniors from the coronavirus, the president took a few questions from reporters. He demonstrated remarkable knowledge on a wide range of subjects and refused to take the media’s bait when prodded with gotcha questions. One reporter asked the president about a suggestion that flags should be lowered to recognize those who have died during the pandemic. The president’s heart was plain to see in his response. He said:I think lowering the flags would be very appropriate… I don’t think anyone can feel any worse than I do about all the death and destruction that’s so needless… Nobody has spent more time late in the evening thinking about what has happened to this country in a short period of time.I felt the exchange showed an incredible degree of empathy and a side of Donald Trump that the media almost never shows. While this president is rightly known for being tough, I have frequently seen this other side of Donald Trump during my visits to the White House, and others have also testified to Trump’s compassion. For example, in 2017, after the son of former Fox News host Eric Bolling died of a drug overdose, President Trump called the Bolling family on Thanksgiving. Just a few weeks ago, during the height of the coronavirus pandemic, Trump called a 15-year-old boy with terminal leukemia.By the way, the president was also asked Thursday about Tara Reade, and I thought he handled the question skillfully, saying that loose lips liar-Biden should address her allegations. The president added, “It could be false accusations. I know all about false accusations. I’ve been falsely charged numerous times. And there is such a thing.”He then pivoted to how the media handled the accusations against Brett Kavanaugh, saying, “What happened with him was an absolute disgrace to our country.”But here’s something interesting to ponder: Until Friday morning’s appearance on MSNBC, President Trump had been asked more often about Tara Reade than had Joe Biden! That tells you everything you need to know.By the way, multiple people have come forward to say Reade told them in 1993 the same story she is telling now. But as we have pointed out, most left-wing media outlets have ignored the story.Yet when the loose lips liar-Biden campaign announced Thursday it would be making a statement Friday, the same media that has never informed viewers about the charges gleefully declared that the vice president would be refuting the charges.Just imagine how confused millions of Americans must have been. What charges?Commenting on loose lips liar-Biden’s performance Friday morning on MSNBC, Geraldo Rivera said, “I think that the former vice president looked like a deer caught in the headlights.” And as Rivera correctly noted, Biden will never face the same kind of vitriolic questioning that Kavanaugh endured. What About the Science? There are many people insisting that science must direct our response to the coronavirus. While I am optimistic that science will find a treatment or vaccine for COVID-19, science doesn’t have all the answers.Rich Lowry, editor of National Review, has an excellent column on this subject. Below are a few excerpts.Of course, our policymakers should be informed by facts and reason, but science has a limited competency. Once you are outside a lab setting and dealing with matters of public policy, questions of values and how to strike a balance between competing priorities are involved and they simply can’t be settled by people in white lab coats…Science can’t tell us how we should think about the trade-off between economic misery caused by shutdowns and the public-health risks of reopenings. It can’t determine the balance between shutting down a hospital’s elective surgeries so it can prepare for a Covid-19 surge, and tanking its business and forcing it to furlough employees…We, as a self-governing people, will have to decide the important questions about how to respond to the coronavirus going forward, not the doctors on TV or the researchers in the labs.  ~The Patriot Post
