Friday Top News Executive Summary

Media Editors: Republican lawmakers are putting Rep. scumbag-Adam Schiff, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, in the spotlight due to his relentless and fraudulent pursuit of Russian-collusion charges. The committee is composed of nine Republicans, all of whom yesterday urged scumbag-Schiff to vacate his leadership position in the aftermath of dirty cop-Robert Mueller’s hollow probe. In a letter, the GOP wrote in part: “The findings of the Special Counsel conclusively refute your past and present assertions and have exposed you as having abused your position to knowingly promote false information, having damaged the integrity of this Committee, and undermined faith in U.S. government institutions. … As such, we have no faith in your ability to discharge your duties in a manner consistent with your Constitutional responsibility and urge your immediate resignation as Chairman of this Committee.” Unsurprisingly, scumbag-Schiff scoffed at the request.

Unfortunately, scumbag-Schiff’s show business is only the tip of the iceberg. Other colleagues are following his playbook — even going so far as to lay the foundation for “incriminating” Attorney General William Barr. According to The Washington Post, “House Democrats are ready to accuse … Barr of a ‘coverup’ to protect President Trump if he refuses to detail for Congress the information special counsel dirty cop-Robert S. Mueller III provided the grand jury during his investigation of Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.”

Tandra Simonton, the spokeswoman for State’s Attorney Kimberly Foxx — who implicated herself in the Jussie Smollett hate-hoax ruse by communicating with Michelle scumbag/liar-nObama’s former chief of staff and Smollett compadre Tina Tchen — made this confession yesterday: “The State’s Attorney did not formally recuse herself or the Office based on any actual conflict of interest. As a result, she did not have to seek the appointment of a special prosecutor under [state law].” The Washington Examiner elaborates, “The spokeswoman said Foxx’s office used the word ‘recuse’ to talk about her involvement in the case as a ‘colloquial use’ rather than the legal definition of the term.” Amazingly, this story gets even more surreal: Jussie Smollett is now a contender for the 2019 NAACP Image Awards. Meanwhile, Chicago, which spent $130,000 on the investigation, wants Smollett to pay up.

Going nuclear: “Senate Republicans took the first step Thursday toward triggering the ‘nuclear option’ and cut down on the amount of time Democrats can obstruct presidential nominees. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell scheduled a test vote next week on a change to Senate rules that would trim the 30 hours of debate allowed on each nominee once a filibuster is defeated. That vote is expected to fail — and the GOP is then likely to use the nuclear option, a shortcut to change the rules by majority vote.” (The Washington Times)

The Commerce Department on Thursday provided a final reading on fourth-quarter GDP, pegging it at 2.2%. Before, the estimate was 2.6%. By and large, however, the economy last year was a sight for sore eyes, with median GDP coming in at 2.9%. According to CNBC, “In all, 2018 was the best year for the economy since 2015 and well above the 2.2 percent increase in 2017. The economy grew 3 percent when compared with the fourth quarter of 2017.”

Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Kevin K. McAleenan has already said that the “breaking point has arrived … at our border.” But the situation could turn catastrophic if reports from Mexico are correct. “Interior Secretary Olga Sanchez Cordero has said a caravan of migrants from El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala could be forming,” the Associated Press informs us. “‘We have information that a new caravan is forming in Honduras, that they’re calling “the mother of all caravans,” and they are thinking it could have more than 20,000 people,’ Sanchez Cordero said Wednesday.“ Others are downplaying the report as dubious, and the AP states they “suspect the administration of President Donald Trump may be trying to fan fears of a big caravan to turn the U.S. national agenda back to the immigration issue.” But as we noted yesterday, February’s apprehension of 76,000 illegal immigrants is estimated to soon swell to 100,000. The addition of any caravans, regardless of exact numbers, will only exacerbate the problem.

Exhibit A in why spending never gets cut: “President Donald Trump said he would jettison a proposal to slash funding for the Special Olympics, undercutting Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and the budget proposal he signed. … Trump’s remarks came after widespread criticism targeted DeVos’ budget proposal to eliminate funding for the program, which is designed to help children and adults with disabilities. … The education secretary has explained her rationale by saying the Special Olympics is a private organization — not a federal program — that is better supported by philanthropy.” (USA Today)

According to NPR, “The Department of Housing and Urban Development is suing social media giant Facebook for allegedly violating the Fair Housing Act. HUD says Facebook does so by ‘encouraging, enabling and causing housing discrimination’ when it allows companies that use their platform to improperly shield who can see certain housing ads.” But as The Resurgent’s Erick Erickson explains, “There is a problem — Facebook did not actually do that. Facebook is a platform. People used the tools within Facebook and some people not connected to Facebook did it. But Facebook did not. Facebook’s ad platform is very robust in how it allows advertisers to target anyone and everyone.”

Reuters reports that “Venezuela’s opposition leader Juan Guaido will be barred from public office for 15 years, the government comptroller said on Thursday, as it seeks to crack down on the U.S.-backed rival to President Nicolas Maduro.” The Statement Department’s response was succinct: “That’s rich and that’s ridiculous.” Meanwhile, Vice President Mike Pence visited with Fabiana Rosales, Guaido’s wife, earlier this week. Pence said, “Nicolas Maduro is a dictator with no legitimate claim to power, and it is the policy of the United States of America, at the direction of President Donald Trump, that Nicolas Maduro must go. … Our message, very simply, is that we’re with you, and the United States is going to continue to stand with you, stand with your courageous husband, and stand with freedom-loving people in Venezuela.”

Despite Brexit’s having been rejected twice, Prime Minister Theresa May was hoping that the third time would be a charm. Well, it wasn’t. According to Fox News, “On the day that Britain was originally scheduled to leave the European Union, lawmakers continued their impasse, voting down Prime Minister Theresa May’s stripped-down withdrawal agreement for the third time. … Immediately following the latest defeat, Opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn called on May to resign immediately, asking whether she now ‘finally accepts’ that MPs will not support her deal.” The odds of a “no-deal” Brexit are increasing by the hour.

Policy: “There’s a conservative health care plan that could reduce costs and help Americans get better access to medical care,” write Katrina Trinko and Daniel Davis in The Daily Signal. Get the details here.

Policy: “Education was never meant to be values-neutral, and recent decades have shown that the public schools are indeed aggressively teaching a set of values to the almost 90 percent of American kids who travel through their halls.” Independent Women’s Forum senior policy analyst Inez Feltscher Stepman provides insight into why “Public Schools Are No Longer a Foundation of America’s Republic.”

California County to Shut Down Immigration Detention Facilities

by Matthew Vadum

{ } ~ Under assault by California’s grotesquely unconstitutional so-called sanctuary state laws, the Orange County sheriff’s department announced March 27 that it will cancel its agreement… with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to provide immigration detention facilities. Although hosting ICE detainees can be a profit center for some cash-strapped local governments, leftists across America are hellbent on shutting down prison facilities, especially those that are privately owned or administered. Private and privately-run prisons consistently outperform those that governments maintain. Attacking government-funded but privately-owned immigration detention facilities marries various factions of the Left in a common subversive enterprise. Open-borders fanatics get to strike a blow for immigration anarchy and promote the breakdown of law and order. Anti-incarceration activists like those in the violent, cop-hating Black Lives Matter movement get the satisfaction of unleashing lawbreakers on society. And labor leaders get new union members as government facilities have to be expanded to pick up the slack. The OC sheriff has been leasing bed spaces to ICE since 2010 but the contract with the feds lapses in July 2020, The Epoch Times reports. The contract contains an early termination provision and Sheriff Don Barnes, a Republican serving in the officially nonpartisan post, has invoked it which means when the contract runs out ICE will have to relocate its detainees within 120 days, in this case, to facilities outside California…

Liberal Media Got It Wrong – Border Patrol Confirms the Southern Border is at a ‘Breaking Point’

by Marissa Martinez

{ } ~ The border reached its breaking point this week, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commission Kevin McAleenan… McAleenan slammed back against liberal media outlets with cold hard facts on the overwhelming statistics of migrants illegally entering into the U.S. The unprecedented humanitarian and security crisis along the Mexico-U.S. border has pushed law enforcement agents over the top. Over 1,000 migrants crossed illegally into the U.S., and there were not enough agents to respond. “The breaking point has arrived,” McAleenan said late Wednesday. “We are doing everything we can to simply avoid a tragedy in a CBP facility,” McAleenan said. “But with these numbers, with the types of illnesses we’re seeing at the border, I fear that it’s just a matter of time.” McAleenan said CBP is on track for more than 100,000 apprehensions, many of whom are seeking asylum. Nevertheless, the amount of family units and unaccompanied children claiming asylum after setting foot on U.S. soil is “straining the resources of the Border Patrol facilities, which were designed primarily for single men and are far beyond their official capacity.” He also confirmed agents encountered an estimated 4,000 illegal immigrants crossing along the entire border on Monday alone. This is the highest daily total on record in 15 years…

Former Top Prosecutor Explains Why scumbag/liar-nObama Needs To Be Held to Account for Russia Investigation

by Randy DeSoto

{ } ~ Former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy said Tuesday that the purpose of the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation launched against the Trump campaign in 2016… would have been for the benefit of then-President Barack scumbag/liar-nObama. Fox News host Bill Hemmer suggested to McCarthy — a 20-year veteran U.S. attorney, who successfully led the prosecution against the “Blind Sheikh” (Omar Abdel Rahman) and other perpetrators of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing — that scumbag/liar-nObama had to be curious about the investigation. “I think more than curious,” McCarthy responded. “I feel sometimes when we make this distinction between counterintelligence and criminal investigations people’s eyes glaze over, but it really is important.”He pointed out that counterintelligence investigations are “done for the president.” “The only reason that you do counterintelligence investigations is for the FBI, as our domestic security service, to support the president’s constitutional duty to protect the United States from foreign threats,” McCarthy said. The National Review contributing editor reiterated, “They’re the president’s investigations.” Watch starting at 6:14 mins. Ari Fleischer, former White House press secretary under George W. Bush, argued that with the release of the dirty cop-Mueller report showing no collusion, attention should shift to looking into the scumbag/liar-nObama administration’s decision to initiate the probe. “They spied on a U.S. campaign, wiretapped Americans, bit on the dossier and unmasked Michael Flynn…

DOJ to receive criminal referrals for Russia spygate

by After special counsel dirty cop-Robert Mueller confirmed his longtime assertion that the Trump campaign did not collude with Russia… House Intelligence Committee ranking Member Devin Nunes is “going on offense” to probe the origin of the collusion claims. Nunes plans to send a criminal referral next week to the Justice Department detailing “multiple referrals on a number of different crimes” as part of an investigation of alleged misconduct by the DOJ and the FBI, Breitbart News reported. The alleged crimes include leaking classified information, perjury and criminal conspiracy. Nunes told Breitbart regarding the collusion charge that he and his colleagues “knew this was a joke from the beginning, and I’ve said as much for a long time.” Under Nunes’ leadership, the intelligence committee conducted a parallel investigation of the collusion allegation that was completed last year. The Republicans concluded there was no collusion, while Democrats disputed the findings. But now, the real work begins,” Nunes told Breitbart. “It’s good to not have that sitting out there. But we have to now go on offense and track down all these dirty cops and bad players.” Nunes plans to interview about 50 people who were involved in pushing the anti-Trump “dossier” funded by the scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee. The document was used to obtain a warrant to surveil then-Trump campaign adviser Carter Page…

FBI to Hand scumbag-Comey Memos on Trump Over to Judge Weighing Release

by Erik Larson

{ } ~ The FBI was ordered to let a judge review copies of former director scumbag-James Comey’s memos about his interactions with President Donald Trump… before he was fired to determine whether to release them, as media organizations seek to make the documents public. U.S. District Judge James Boasberg in Washington on Thursday ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation to submit both clean and redacted versions of the documents by April 1 as part of a Freedom of Information Act case brought by CNN and other organizations, including USA Today and the conservative activist group Judicial Watch Inc. The public should be permitted to see the memos because Trump and scumbag-Comey have accused each other “of grave breaches of the public trust,” and the documents include crucial “contemporaneous records of disputed conversations,” CNN argued in a January filing. On March 1, the FBI wrote to the judge saying the files that are still redacted are classified and should remain secret to avoid interfering with Special Counsel dirty cop-Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. That probe ended on March 22. Boasberg didn’t say when he’d decide whether to release the documents.

Congressional ‘AINOs’ Abet Open Borders

Arnold Ahlert: Crisis: noun —a condition of instability or danger, as in social, economic, political, or international affairs, leading to a decisive change. —

Have we reached a crisis with regard to illegal immigration? By every indicator — including the shameless spectacle of Republicans in both chambers of Congress joining Democrats to defeat President Donald Trump’s use of a national emergency declaration to build a wall — our Ruling Class believes the answer is “no.”

Why? Because secure borders, the Rule of Law, and an America-first immigration policy do not serve the interests of the globalist elitists in both parties. Elitists who portray themselves as servants of the people, even as they remain more disconnected from whom they ostensibly serve than at any time in recent history — and even as they remain wholly insulated from the policies they inflict on the rest of us.

Yet reality on the ground cannot be ignored. Data released by the DHS reveals that a new onslaught of illegals arrested or turned away at the border has reached levels not seen in years. Leon Fresco, an immigration attorney and member of a Homeland Security advisory committee formed by DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, asserts, “At the moment, we have the closest thing to an open border that we’ve had.”

Not quite. “In 2000, the number of U.S. Border Patrol apprehensions of illegal immigrants along the southwest border reached an all-time high of 1.6 million. Fast forward 17 years to 2017 and apprehensions plummeted to a record low of 303,000,” writes columnist Sylvia Longmire. “Many border security observers have credited everything from the border fence to improved surveillance technology to changing economic conditions for this drop.”

According to a 2017 Homeland Security report, DHS contends that 55% to 85% of immigrants crossing the border illegally were apprehended or interdicted in 2016. If one takes the record low of 303,000 apprehensions in 2017, and the DHS’s most self-serving apprehension rate of 85%, that leaves a record low of 45,450 illegal aliens successfully entering the United States in a single year.

Now go the other way. Take 2000’s 1.6 million, and apply the low end apprehension rate of 35% the DHS conceded they were reaching a decade ago. That leaves the possibility that as many a 1,040,000 illegals successfully entered the nation 19 years ago — which was 14 years after the 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act granted unconditional amnesty to 2.7 million illegals — in exchange for securing the border and cracking down on businesses that hired illegals.

Note that even when “only” 45,450 illegals successfully broke into the country, government officials were speaking in terms of “success” and “credit.”

Some perspective? Nineteen Islamists perpetrated the September 11, 2001 atrocities, and three of the jihadis who crashed planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon had expired visas, meaning they were here illegally — when they slaughtered 2,996 Americans.

Yet how do leftists and their media allies rationalize all criminal activity committed by illegals? We’re told they commit crimes as lesser rates than native born Americans.

That this argument is given an iota of credence epitomizes the ideological bankruptcy of those who are never asked an essential question:

How many wholly avoidable crimes, in addition to being in America illegally, must Americans tolerate — lest they be deemed xenophobic or bigoted, no less — to accommodate globalist sensibilities?

Moreover, what is the hard number of illegals entering the nation Americans must tolerate? Border authorities are predicting that more than one million illegals will be stopped at the southern border this year.

More perspective? The are only 10 cities in the entire nation with populations that exceed one million.

And what breaks down? “As you know, every day, thousands of illegal aliens are being released into the United States by your administration,” stated the Texas union of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in a letter toTrump. “‘Catch and Release’ is not just happening — it’s in overdrive.”

Overdrive is an understatement. From December 21 to March 20, ICE released approximately 107,000 family members into the nation’s interior, including 1,000 released in a single day in the Rio Grande Valley.

On top of that, interior arrests are down 12% because ICE has had to shift resources to the border to deal with the increasing influx, and the immigration courts where illegals are supposed to show up and make their cases for being allowed to remain in America are “irredeemably dysfunctional and on the brink of collapse,” states a 2019 report by the American Bar Association.

As a result, approximately 1.1 million illegals from Mexico and Central America remain free in America until their cases are heard. How long will that take? “There were more than 760,000 pending cases at the end of FY 2018 and an additional 330,000 cases that could be returned to active dockets in short order,” the ABA report continued. Moreover, the average case takes 578 days to complete — for those who show up. In 2017, 43% of illegals didn’t appear for scheduled follow-up hearings.

Catch and release? Catch no longer has any real meaning, and illegals know it. They are now so well aware of how to game the system, they actively seek out border agents and claim asylum instead of evading arrest.

Remember that when you hear the advocates promoting “virtual” or “smart” walls. Again, only the ideologically bankrupt could assert that a physical barrier preventing illegals from crossing the border is inferior to one that merely locates those illegals for catch — and release.

Even more bankrupt? “According to the State Department, up to 17,500 — even up to 19,000 — foreign nationals are trafficked into the United States every year,” the Daily Caller reports. “Most of those, an estimated 70 percent, are trafficked from Mexico, and half of those are minors forced into prostitution.”

And because Congress fails to act, they abet this human trafficking.

Drugs? “Government data for 2018 shows more drugs were seized near open parts of the U.S.-Mexico border than were seized at ports of entry,” the Washington Examiner reports, ruining another leftist anti-wall argument that posited most drugs were coming through ports of entry. Again, what’s the acceptable level of non-port-of-entry drug smuggling “deplorable” Americans must abide?

Trump has vetoed the effort to prevent his [entirely legal] emergency declaration, and Congress has failed to override that veto, yet nagging questions remain unanswered. Will Democrats continue to be more concerned about illegal aliens than American citizens? Will the media keep insisting Americans’ desire to preserve national sovereignty is tantamount to white supremacy and/or Nazism? Will Trump himself stop talking the talk and begin walking the walk? (Hint: refurbishing previously existing barriers doesn’t count).

If not, and current trends hold, approximately 2,730 illegals will be apprehended and released by the Border Patrol — every day — in FY2019. And every one of those days, Americans will be told there’s no crisis at the border.

All because most members of Congress are now “AINOs” — Americans In Name Only! ~The Patriot Post
