Unemployed? Help Wanted! Apply Here!
This is an image taken from a very unscientific poll that is currently appearing on Yahoo.
What does this tell us? It tells us that we don't know what the truth is!
Officially, the Mississippi unemployment rate is about 10.6%. Although, I can tell you, I am 100% unemployed. Maybe I should march on D.C. I'll be the 100%! I'll be Occupy The Truth.
28% is a far cry from 10.6%! They say that the national rate came down this month, but just like last year, and the year before, they failed to include the fact that this happens every year before Christmas.
So, who is telling the truth? Does it even matter?
Unemployment figures are just the tip of the iceberg of all that this administration is hiding from the public. There's so much deceit there! What does it even matter if I have a job and my government is lying to me about the nature of the society in which I live?
It's not just the President! Congress is hiding bills on immigration, among other things. The Supreme Court is being less than honest about the precedents made in its own rulings. SCOTUS justices that by all rights should be recused are sitting on the cases that will decide the very nature of this country for the next hundred years.
Does it even matter what the unemployment rate really is?
What does matter is that we have a government we can trust! Without that, we are without hope.
Pick a presidential candidate from the litter. Pick the one that you trust not only to do an acceptable job, but also the one that you believe when he or she speaks to you. Look at the list of names. By now, you should know most of them.
Be honest! Include Barack Obama in the list. Include anyone you want! Rate them all in order of trustworthiness. Make your decision based solely on this comparison. Leave out ideology, religion, all of that...include only honesty.
Then ask yourself this: Would I be better off with them or without them?

Permalink Reply by Brenda Choate on December 7, 2011 at 12:19pm Since obama has done nothing but sink us further in debt, he is desparately seeking an image from the past. Unfortunately the ones he wishes to emulate are not the best examples in all cases. FDR and Teddy Rosevelt favored a socialist big brother government. Neither accomplished much except to extend the depression. Obama can never be a Reagan, he lacks the ability to get past his own ideology. Abe emancipated the slaves--obama wants to emancipate the illegals.
Wait a minute!
In the body of the article, you say "28% is a far cry from 10.6%! " Where's the 28% come from?
The real unemployment number, including the bogus Labor Department's "who are not actively participating in the work force" hovers around 17%! Where's the 28%?

Permalink Reply by joana briggs on December 7, 2011 at 11:23am Honesty is a word with mixed meanings today. It is a top criteria for getting my vote even if hard to measure. Your final question is key. Better off?? or better on??
Permalink Reply by Richard Curtis on December 7, 2011 at 11:46am Unemployment is always presented favorably, when everybody is watching, then revised upward whan nobody is watching. Just like COLA (Cost of Living for seniors), they don't bother including Gas or Food. What else to seniors buy??
Oh, they buy all sorts of things....like everybody else....Electricity may double by 2014.in NYC
Worse in many places..
Permalink Reply by Christina Mcabe on December 7, 2011 at 1:11pm It is hard b/c so many people get LIHEAP-free utilities. It is a federal program administered by the states. Also, most people on welfare do not pay utilities. I have even heard there are apartment complexes in the city (and Santa Fe) that have been privatized and no one can afford them. This is b/c they are all-electric and most people can not afford electric heat, hot water, etc. (Natural gas and propane are widely used here.) So they are mostly vacant since LIHEAP (or welfare) aren't covering the utilities, anymore. No one noticed when it was these programs-or the state etc.

Permalink Reply by Christina Mcabe on December 7, 2011 at 1:01pm Gallup polls is reporting that in terms of acceptability it is Gingrich-and then Romney to GOP voters. (www.Gallup.com see Election 2012 section-there may be a fee to subscribe, though.) Also, Wikipedia has Gingrich picking up lots of Cain supporters: now that Cain is out of the race. (Rasmussen polls and Polling Place polls) Gingrich is leading Obama by two (2) points (45% to 43%) in a late November poll. (Rasmussen poll) Romney holds at 43% to Obama's 42%, if the election were held currently. Permalink Reply by Christina Mcabe on December 7, 2011 at 12:33pm According to this month's issue of the AARP Bulletin (December): there are actually 20 million people who are unemployed in the US. (p. 34) I did see, though that UPS is supposed to be hiring 13,000 people-natonwide. Also, I have been told they aren't seasonal positions. (Fox Business Channel, last month) Ford is moving some jobs back to the US: and also other car makers. Apparently, the high cost of gas (and other fuels) makes it cheaper to produce goods here-for our market-than to transport them from overseas. (Various sources)
PS UPS is United Parcel Service. They are the brown trucks that deliver packages (and documents) to homes and businesses-ie for Christmas. However, they also do less expensive bulk mail.
I am just helping at my step-family's ranch right now. We have horses, sell water commercially, and also sell hunting permits, wood etc. We have several sections of land in the SW US. I have also been a certfied teacher (Gifted/Talented and Pre-K/Kindergarden splits) and taught Community College writing-as an adjunct. I have also worked in: social services; libraries; and even in restaurant/hotel as a teen etc and in college. I have worked (paid) since I was 15 years old.
Permalink Reply by Dennis L on December 7, 2011 at 12:43pm The real statistics are as follows:
45% unemployment for people in the workforce under the age 30 .
75% unemployment of recent college grads who cannot find a job.
10-15% % 0f the workforce who gave up trying to find work
35% of the workforce doing work outside of their dicipline.
about 20-25% total unemployment when you add in people who dropped off the unemployment insurance rolls and those who are of age and trying to enter the workforce and can't..
We are in miserable shape folks.
