Newt Gingrich is still out there, still working.  Every time he comes up with a great idea, we should all be asking ourselves, “How the hell did we have a candidate this good and end up with someone like Romney as the nominee?”

Newt Gingrich went to the NRA and dropped a bomb.

He said that if he were President he would offer an amendment to the UN Charter that would make the right to keep and bear arms a universal human right.

Wow!

Gingrich points out that if that were in fact an enforceable right, there would be a lot fewer people killed by dictatorships, fewer women raped and fewer dictators surviving.

Mitt Romney went to the NRA and offered a generic offer of support for the Second Amendment.  Of course, in years earlier Romney had supported the Assault Weapons ban and other gun control measures.  But Captain Etch A Sketch is saying what ever he has to in order to get the nomination.

Newt Gingrich understands liberty, which is the most frustrating part about the traction his campaign has not gotten.  Newt points out that our rights come from God, not from man.  Ergo man is not allowed to take them.

Newt is a man for whom words like Freedom and Liberty are not simply talking points or the punch line for a speech.

As soon as the nomination is officially his, Romney will tack away from the right.  He is not a conservative and he believes the people who tell him he must move to the middle.

We will watch with dismay as he does that and if he does get elected, we will watch in disappointment as the conservative ideals he claimed he championed during the primary season are forgotten.

And many of us will be asking why the GOP did not put Newt Gingrich in the White House.

Laura, you are correct. Write in votes will only seal Ovomit's victory and seal America's doom.

Please, please, please don't do that.  Every vote not for Romney is a vote for Obama, you want another four years of that?  Newt is smart as a whip, knows this country backwards and forwards, but unfortunately he comes with too much baggage.

We have to unite behind Romney whether we like it or not.  I held my nose to vote for McCain, I can do it again.

Dear Kathae

My wife and I stood in a line for 6 hours in Hollywood, Florida (on an early voting day!) waiting to vote for John McCain. Obama won any way. Holding our nose and voting for the lesser of two evils, lost Republicans the Presidential elections of 1976, 1996 and 2008. Frankly, I do not see any wisdom in what you are saying. The only time we win elections, is when our party offers us an exciting alternative.

That happened especially in 1980, when the non establishment candidate was able fight his way to the nomination. We have no guts left in in this country. We allow our party leaders, and even our stupid conservative media do all of our thinking for us.

In 1980 there was no internet, cable or a  stupid, know it all commentator named Ann Coulter or that insipid Karl Rove to speak for us, but the American voters managed to make the right choice any way. What will it take for the American voters to wake up and realize, that if the would simply vote for who they wanted, then Newt Gingrich could be our President.

I think Kathae is being realistic.  If you have a choice on voting for Romney or Obama, what choice is there but to hold your nose and vote?

Unfortunately, there is a choice. Many voters, will simply sit out the election, and not vote at all, like they did in 2008. If we think that Obama will be easy to beat, then it is the "hold our nose" crowd who are living in a dream world. That may sound harsh, but the voters want a real choice. Unless, Romney begins to actually make some promises, embraces a strong platform and chooses a dynamite running mate,  then it is the party establishment, that needs a reality check.

OK.  So don't vote. You'll be one of the ones we can thank for Obama being re-elected.

That's Troll Talk, which will guarantee Obama's re-election, and the destruction of the noble experiment called the United States.of America.

It is also childish behavior, to not participate because you didn't get things your way.  As adults we should be able to multitask, and vote for the winner of the nomination to defeat the evil Obama, while we work to reform the party (or start another one) to follow the Constitution.  At this point, the winner is not final, and to throw in the towel just because it looks that way is another example of childish behavior.

OMG what are these people talking about the the republican hasnt been picked yet not all the people have spoken. Romney still needs 1144 votes to seal the deal. Far from over so maybe we wont have to hold our nose and vote for the worst reb nominee since McCain yuk

"Troll Talk"? seriously?  Its not the "conservatives" that elected President Reagan, it was all those folks that were convinced that making the extra effort to get to the polls and vote could actually help make a change for the better...so they did.  Romney doesn't have that kind of energy, he didn't 4 years ago and he doesn't now.  Newt has the ability to inspire people because he actually has a real plan and can articulate his values without a teleprompter.  It would only take a debate or two one-on-one with "the real BHO" and the energy that Reagan had ginned up, not in the base, but everywhere else, would be there and coalesce around Newt and we would have a non-establishment, conservative, POTUS.  The Republican party establishment and the Progressive/Libs (almost one in the same these days) are scared to death of Newt because he knows what the problem is in Washington and the folks getting fat off the public trough and drunk on the power feel his eyes on them.  Bash us as trolls all you want, but no matter how many of us turn out to vote, unless there is an idea that reverberates with the US PEOPLE, Romney will be John McCann II...hell, he already is.

Laura, you bet. If it is a choice between Romney and the Jihadist-in-Chief, you can bet your last dollar I am voting for Romney. Romney is NOT a good choice, but he is an angel compared to OMuslim. If Ovomit gets a second term, the gloves are really going to come off. If you think things are bad now, just wait until Ovomit gets sworn in for a second term. We must stop that from happening, no matter what.

That said, in the primaries, it is a whole different story. The Florida primary was held on January 31st, and I proudly voted for Rick Santorum. Since Santorum has sadly left the race very recently, if my state's primary were coming up, I would vote for Newt. There is no way I am voting for Romney, unless it is a choice between him and Ovomit in November. If it boils down to Romney or Ovomit, I would crawl to the polls if I had to, to stop Ovomit.

the primary is not over yet so you dont have to hold your nose quite yet
