Why didn’t this guy win?
Newt Gingrich is still out there, still working. Every time he comes up with a great idea, we should all be asking ourselves, “How the hell did we have a candidate this good and end up with someone like Romney as the nominee?”
Newt Gingrich went to the NRA and dropped a bomb.
He said that if he were President he would offer an amendment to the UN Charter that would make the right to keep and bear arms a universal human right.
Wow!
Gingrich points out that if that were in fact an enforceable right, there would be a lot fewer people killed by dictatorships, fewer women raped and fewer dictators surviving.
Mitt Romney went to the NRA and offered a generic offer of support for the Second Amendment. Of course, in years earlier Romney had supported the Assault Weapons ban and other gun control measures. But Captain Etch A Sketch is saying what ever he has to in order to get the nomination.
Newt Gingrich understands liberty, which is the most frustrating part about the traction his campaign has not gotten. Newt points out that our rights come from God, not from man. Ergo man is not allowed to take them.
Newt is a man for whom words like Freedom and Liberty are not simply talking points or the punch line for a speech.
As soon as the nomination is officially his, Romney will tack away from the right. He is not a conservative and he believes the people who tell him he must move to the middle.
We will watch with dismay as he does that and if he does get elected, we will watch in disappointment as the conservative ideals he claimed he championed during the primary season are forgotten.
And many of us will be asking why the GOP did not put Newt Gingrich in the White House.

I am with Newt all the way to Tampa, and then to the White House. When I decided to back him, I knew it was going to be an uphill battle, but I don't care. I don't put my backing behind someone then jump ship because it's a tough fight, I put my backing behind who I think is the best. And my word stands until the man I back says differently. IF Newt throws in the towel, then and only then am I going to back someone else. Adelson's family just put in another 7.5 million (his wife), that is another person who stand their ground. Newt stands his ground, he hasn't given up, or given in, an example many TEA people should take a look at. We say we are not going to compromise our principles, but I have seen a lot of compromising going on. STAND UP AND BE COUNTED for goodness sake!!! NEWT 2012!!!!

We haven't wound up with a nominee yet. It won't be the newt guaranteed. Ron Paul has been winning plenty of delegates and has a chance at the convention in Tampa during a brokered convention. IF romney becomes the nominee he will not win the general election. The establishment republicans have been committing fraud at the state conventions in favor of romney enough that they are alienating an entire bloc of voters who will walk away and vote their conscience, not who they are told to. The neo-CONs are trying to put someone in who is no different than the current pseudo president at the behest of their bosses... and that ain't us. The newt won't win, and neither will romney. The only real choice for a real president is Ron Paul.

Ok dont freak out but Rasmusson polls state now that Newt is only 7 pts behind Obama and Romney 5 dont tell me that Newt can not win this thing. Your either with him or with Robme. These republican and tea party hire ups have betrayed our beliefs and we have to fight them so the American people will be heard keep voting for Newt it really upsets the RNC

Judson - we were negligent and didn't actually give Newt support after the Iowa fiasco; we followed the same path that we did in 2008 and that's what I don't understand. In my mind there was only one candidate who could place our Nation back on track and most ignored him and still are as a matter of fact.
I really don't know what the people are looking for in a candidate - my only conclusion is this many of them moved from the Conservative position and pretty much ignored our Constitution. There aren't any feasible excuses this year; we're headed for four years of disaster anyway you look at it. The majority has become a bunch of sheep following the Old Republican Establishment and the scary thing is this any few mention it. Christy and Rubio have joined Romney so that tells me we're not very good in picking candidates. The fact that Christy and Rubio jumped on Romney's bandwagon says a thousand words.

Sally - yes they were and Sarah Palin beats all around the bush hesitating to actually support Newt. We're seeing Republicans at their worst right now and this tells all of us why we have Barack Obama destroying our Nation - those who profess to follow our Constitution are in fact two faced.
