Newt Gingrich is still out there, still working.  Every time he comes up with a great idea, we should all be asking ourselves, “How the hell did we have a candidate this good and end up with someone like Romney as the nominee?”

Newt Gingrich went to the NRA and dropped a bomb.

He said that if he were President he would offer an amendment to the UN Charter that would make the right to keep and bear arms a universal human right.

Wow!

Gingrich points out that if that were in fact an enforceable right, there would be a lot fewer people killed by dictatorships, fewer women raped and fewer dictators surviving.

Mitt Romney went to the NRA and offered a generic offer of support for the Second Amendment.  Of course, in years earlier Romney had supported the Assault Weapons ban and other gun control measures.  But Captain Etch A Sketch is saying what ever he has to in order to get the nomination.

Newt Gingrich understands liberty, which is the most frustrating part about the traction his campaign has not gotten.  Newt points out that our rights come from God, not from man.  Ergo man is not allowed to take them.

Newt is a man for whom words like Freedom and Liberty are not simply talking points or the punch line for a speech.

As soon as the nomination is officially his, Romney will tack away from the right.  He is not a conservative and he believes the people who tell him he must move to the middle.

We will watch with dismay as he does that and if he does get elected, we will watch in disappointment as the conservative ideals he claimed he championed during the primary season are forgotten.

And many of us will be asking why the GOP did not put Newt Gingrich in the White House.

I would rather hold my nose and mouth trying not to puke than allow the socialist destruction of the nation to continue at the more rapid, current pace.

i love you Donald the game is not over yet

Judson, this is exactly the way I have felt since Newt entered.  Why can't the RNC and the 'old guard' Republicans see that we NEED LEADERS not COMPROMISER's or FOLLOWER's !!!   We need some one that can make the hard decissions that will be necessary to save our great nation and set us back on the path to prosperity.

I am afraid their idea of the tea party is limited to something either in the sitting room or out on the patio on a sun shiny day.

Its like this, the unelected bureaucracy has taken over.  We elect 535 people in DC...the rest are there sucking on the public teet...and there's a lot of teet sucking going on.  A real conservative change threatens their fluffy nests, so they will never support a candidate like that...but that's exactly the candidate we need.  Our country doesn't need a "therapist", we need and "exorcist" with a work ethic.

This is taking too long.  Sure Newt is the best idea man, but he is not going to be the president.  And, we need to get behind the man who can be.  We need to support him, and ....... help mold his positions.  When faced by constituents, he always moves right.  Let's help him so he can.  Think about it.  -  p

So true Peter.  I think what this came down to was "electability".  Newt by far has the best ideas, experience, and basic conservative values.  But he fell to what to most people consider the more electable person.  It happens all the time.  We just have to live with the decision and vote for the Republican candidate.  Whoever that may be.  And not sit at home on election day p***ing and moaning how "my guy isn't the nominee so I am staying home".  That's how we ended up with Obama. McCain wasn't loved by all conservatives so many boycotted the election.  And look where that got us.  Just back the Republican candidate and pray we can do enough.

Newt also had way to much "indiscretions" in his personal life.  If we are going to stand for conservative values, then our candidate should, without a doubt, share and practice those same values.  Newt didn't.  We need someone that can pass the scrutiny that a presidential candidate must endure.

and Romney was a failed Governor and believes that blacks were spawned from the devil. Is that a conversation that Mitt needs to have with Obama. At least Newt asked God for forgiveness.

A-men...and he's walked the walk every since.  I can support that...he's been tested and PASSED!  Newt was forced out of the Speakership because he didn't cowtow to the establishment...that's why they detest him now...its not some pissy idea that "he's an adultor" - wake up.  If you think that's a problem, then you've probably read a little further in the good book and gotten to the spot about, "judge not and ye shall not be judged" and that other one, about confessing your sins.

I didn't see "indiscretions" hurting Bill Clinton at the polls! And the bimbo eruptions were coming out of the woodwork! One actually claimed forcible rape and another was right there in the Oval Office! But the media told us to give all that a wink and a nod and vote for him anyway.

Newt had two serious relationships (evidenced by the fact that he ended up marrying both women), both at times when his marriages were falling apart for other reasons and the media suddenly finds religion!

So I don't know, Rose, how much indiscretion is "way too much"? Do you think it's possible that media bias is influencing public opinion just the teensiest bit? That last was sarcastic. Of course media bias is driving public opinion! People accept whatever crap they put out all the while knowing that the media is in the Dem's pocket! It drives me nuts!

Indiscretions don't hurt Democrats, because Democrats are smart enough to pick people who can win elections. They could care less about private behavior.

Republicans will continue to lose elections until the GOP voters stop judging candidates on their social positions.

The government is just a non-profit business, and we need business thinkers in charge.

My candidate has to:

1. Respect the Constitution

2. Not tell lies

3. Know how to make the government support America's economy .

4. Support a Conservative court system.

That's all  --------
