Who elected them?

On Monday, a group of “conservative and Tea Party leaders” released a letter to  Mitch McConnell and John Boehner.  The gist of the letter was that the Tea Party movement did not support social issues and the GOP should stay focused on fiscal issues.

Really?

First, the letter does not define social issues.  What are social issues?  Abortion? Illegal immigration?  Gay marriage?   Maybe they are and maybe they aren’t, but when you hide behind vague terms, no one has a clue as to what you are talking about.

Among the “conservative and Tea Party leaders” that signed this letter was the chairman of the gay GOP group, GOProud and Tammy Bruce, LA based Internet radio talk show host.  There were a total of sixteen signers on this letter.  Seven were state chairs for Tea Party Patriots.

Let’s be clear.  GOProud is not now, nor has it ever been a conservative or a Tea Party organization.  It is a group of gay Republicans who are not particularly conservative.  Tammy Bruce has spoken at a few Tea Party events, but she is not a leader of this movement.

And then, there is Tea Party Patriots.

The Tea Party Patriot website states they are the “Official Home of the American Tea Party Movement”. I find this particularly offensive as there are several national tea party groups, including Tea Party Nation which was founded at the exact same time as Tea Party Patriots. None of these other national groups refer to themselves as the “official home of the tea party movement.” This arrogance seems to be their general attitude as shown last week, when they tried to harass freshmen members of congress to go to their event instead of another one the congressional freshmen had arranged with the conservative group, Claremont Institute.

Contrary to their beliefs, the Tea Party movement is not of Tea Party Patriots, by Tea Party Patriots and for Tea Party Patriots.

This movement has no official home.  It has no specific leader and no group has the right to speak for the movement the way the signers of this letter have.

They owe the movement an apology.

T.E.A. = Taxed Excessively Already. Don't let them think that you are content with the current level of taxation.
RON PAUL turns out to be right on all issues. He ran on the Libertarian ticket but I didnt get any indication of "Open Borders", "Amnesty" or "NWO". This movement was born when Dr. Paul ignited the grassroots base with his "Revolution". If you read his book you would realize that his ideas are not new, but ideas steeped in good, sound common sense when it comes to looking at government in general. Lord knows that the NWO libs pulled out all the stops when it came to "marginalizing" Dr. Paul. They didnt want any part of his ideas threatening their little "Cash Cow" called the FED and IRS. And to them, war is good. It is good for the military/industrial complex. We dont need to be in any war right but it is good for business and line peoples pocket books. Sad but true..if we stopped the wars right now a lot of folks would be out of jobs. Same is true of downsizing the beaurocricy. Most of the jobs Obama claimed to create are "government" jobs. If we cut out whole departments like we need to do, a lot of folks are going to be out of work.. Yet both of these things NEED to happen quickly. A lot of heads need to roll for the crap that has been perpretrated on the American people. I'm talking ECONOMIC TERRORISM. Crimes against the people! Prison time, public humiliation, huge fines. Politicians, bankers attorneys, bureaucrats of every color.
Jack, if you meant to say "RON PAUL turns out to be on the right of all issues" I'd agree with you, at least on -maters fiscal. Certainly not isolationism, and other areas.

Actually, support of this fellow tends to split the movement, and support a third party. He didn't create the Tea Party Movement, any more than Ross Perot. Forget it.
The subject here is "Who owns the Tea Party Movement?" Please return to the subject!
Well some one from Tea Party Nation should write to McConnell, and Boehner letting them know that we do not believe they are the official Tea Party. There are a lot of Tea Party people and it seems some one is trying to destroy us, it seem it's Tea Party Patriots.
Sounds like we have a group of liberals trying to hijack the tea party movement and make it strictly about fiscal responsibility and turn the focus away from the social issues ie. sanctity of marriage, pro life not abortion and protecting our Constitution. This movement is about far more than fiscal responsiblity. We need to protect our Constitution from the liberals who have elected judges who are legislating from the bench and misinterpreting the meaning of the constitution. We must take a stand against and expose groups who are the devil in tea party clothing.
Right on, Ron! We know what this is about and it's certainly not the Tea Party. It's about an aberrant group of individuals wanting to insidiously associate themselves, and their peculiar agenda, with a well thought of organization, the Tea Party, in order to give credence to their less than appealing message.
There is no "definitive" leadership of the Tea Party movement. We are people who share a common goal and beliefs, but no one now or ever will dictate what those goals or beliefs should be. Every individual will decide for themselves based on what they know and what they believe in. No one group speaks for me because it's not that I agree with them it's that they agree with me. They speak for themselves and I will speak up for myself. And that's the way it ought to be.
Yep, and so am I. And when we meet I say, "I am the TEA Party Leader - who are you?" And our members reply, "I AM THE TEA PARTY LEADER". Loud and clear - we are ALL LEADERS. Thank God for TEA groups and their countless leaders. And their hard work. We are on the march - IS IT 2012 YET? BRING IT ON!
Judson,

The simple answer to the question "Who is the leader of the Tea party?" is,,,,me.

And you, and Dee Park, and Cliff Parker and John Smith and Jane Doe and any other member of the Tea Party.

This is our strength. A totally unified, yet leaderless, grass-roots movement that has only one concern,,,,our country!
I agree totally.
Lawrence, Copy & paste, let others read the Tea Party Defined. let's get some more in agreement with us. Atheist can have their own belief but so can we. We are weak if we let atheist ruin this country.
Strong social and fiscal standards makes for strong TEA. Here's my brew.

1) Acknowledge the higher power, the Creator, as mentioned by our founding fathers in The Declaration of Independence
a. abortion is taking the life of a
person with Constitutional Rights
b. traditional family values
encompasses one woman,
one man, constitutes a marriage

2) Respect the Constitution
a. gun ownership is inviolable
b. personal property is
protected by law

3) Accept self-governance responsibility,
conservatisim, common sense, make good choices
a. all government downsized, replaced by
self governance, stops intrusive govt
b. fiscal responsibility, reduces personal and
business income tax, balanced national,
state, county, city budgets, deficit
spending ends, pro domestic employment,
no amnesty, repairs healthcare access
bailouts and stimulus not legal
c. strong military, protected from
unreasonable prosecution, protected from homosexual activism
d. education in America, in English,
American History, Government and Civics

Brew Strong TEA, Build Strong Families, If it was easy atheists could do it.
