Colin Powell was George Bush’s Secretary of State. He also endorsed Barack Obama for President four years ago. In other words, he is your typical RINO.
And this will come as a big shock he does not like the Tea Party.
From The Hill:
Former Bush administration Secretary of State Colin Powell on Sunday dismissed chances for a Tea Party candidate to win the presidential election, criticizing the hard-line stance taken by the majority of the grassroots movement and advocated by their favored political candidates. "The Tea Party point of view of 'no compromise whatsoever' is not a point of view that will eventually produce a presidential candidate who will win," he said on ABC's "This Week With Christiane Amanpour." Powell said taking the no-compromise position isn't helping get things done in Washington, and called on members of Congress to "come back to the center to compromise" in order to see progress. "Compromise is how this country was founded," he said, offering as an example the issue of slavery. "Can you imagine more difficult compromises today?" he asked. "We have a Congress now that can't even pass an appropriations bill." Powell slammed the tone on Capitol Hill, which he called "very tense." "Republicans and Democrats are focusing more and more on their extreme left and extreme right," he said. "Unless two people in disagreement with each other don't find a way to reach out to one another and make compromises, you don't get a consensus that allows you to move forward."
Our country was founded on compromise? Give me a break. Powell is an idiot.
Our country was founded on the principles of freedom and liberty. Our country was founded by men and women who refused to compromise with tyranny.
Powell believes that conservatives should just surrender to what the liberals want. There is a reason why no one cares what Colin Powell thinks.
Of course, he is a staple of the drive by media, so there can be another Republican on the news, trashing the Tea Party.
People like Colin Powell are the problem. Compromise is the problem. Instead of standing up for Americans, the politicians in Washington have been compromising.
The problem is we have had too many people like Colin Powell in Washington and not nearly enough people who support the Tea Party.

Permalink Reply by Frank Meyer on November 27, 2011 at 4:52pm We saw the serious mistakes in Desert Storm where General Colin Powell had President George Bush stop the surge of the US military onslaught to eliminate the Republican Guard (Iraq) when they invaded Kuwait. It was Powell who was "worried about worldwide opinion" on our plan to exterminate the remains of the Guard on the Highway. We had to fight the Guard again in the occupation of Iraq the next time around.
Powell is the "political aspect of our military today." Powell forgets the job of the militray is to win the battles and thus the war.

Permalink Reply by Dennis L on November 27, 2011 at 4:55pm Colin Powell is a RINO of the worst kind. He should just change party and be done with it. History doesn't support that compromize is good. Neville Chamberlain compromised with Adolf Hitler and proclaimed "There will be peace in our time" Shortly thereafter wars broke out all over Europe. You can't compromise with the democratic socialist party. Historical evidence clearly shows that compromise with these people leads to defeat.
Permalink Reply by Rich Knoch on November 27, 2011 at 4:55pm I assume, by his statement '... criticizing the hard-line stance taken by the majority of the grassroots movement . . .". he prefers the urine smelling, parasite infested wackoids of the OWS (bowel?) movement.
Surely he doesn't align himself with these folks, or, does he also agree with their extortion tactic in Los Angeles?

Has he gone to the dark side . . . . . 100%?
Permalink Reply by Johnboy on November 27, 2011 at 5:05pm He's been on the dark side all along. He was just another General sitting out his big payday. aka retirement on the taxpayer's account.
He rode in on the "equal rights" soul train.
Permalink Reply by David Hunt on November 27, 2011 at 4:59pm Powell is proof that the Republican Party will let anyone in.

Colin Powell is wong. If I agreed with him we would both be wrong.
Permalink Reply by Harold Conklin on November 27, 2011 at 5:04pm Powell is another " Uncle Tom", he owes his political life to the bimbo's in the beltway just like McCain I respect their Military service, but he was the initial officer that covered-up the My Lai incident. He was an operational office in the division and viewed / investigated the "original" report and failed to report it to save his young Military career. When it was leaked by a few retired officers when he was thinking about running for office - he changed his mind. McCain sided with Kerry on many POW/MIA's issues ( nuff said )
Permalink Reply by Hank Richards on November 27, 2011 at 5:10pm I respect Powell for his years of service to our country - that's where the respect stops . . .
