The Wall Street Journal has come out with a shocking statistic. Less than one in four teenagers has a regular job this summer. For that demographic, that is a staggering 76% unemployment rate!
Why are teens unemployed?
There are a couple of reasons.
First is the minimum wage. It is now $7.25 an hour and there are rumblings that the Obama regime and the party of treason want to raise that to $8.25 an hour.
None of the geniuses in the Obama regime have ever run anything as complicated as a lemonade stand so they don’t have a clue as to how real businesses work. Workers are hired based on their value to the business. Teenagers have few skills they bring to the table. They can flip burgers and they have strong backs, but that is about it. If the cost to a business is greater than the value the employee brings to the business, guess what? That employee is not going to be hired.
Every time the government raises the minimum wage, guess who takes the hardest hit? The unskilled, and in this case that means a lot of teens. Every time the government increases regulations and costs, such as mandating insurance like Obamacare, it raises the cost of a new employee to a business. When times are good, a business might carry a few extra employees. When times are bad, such as with the Obama economy, they will not. This is what we are seeing right now.
The other factor keeping American teens unemployed is illegal immigration.
When I was a teen, in the mid 70’s, fast food outlets were the employer of choice for teens during the summer. Stores at the mall were the second choice. Go to almost any fast food outlet now, with the exception of Chick-fil-A, most of the staff barely speaks English.
Are they in the country legally? Let’s just say I have my doubts for most of them.
A couple of weeks ago, I was in Washington. My flight went to Baltimore and I took a car into DC. It had been a long trip and I was hungry so I stopped at the first I could find, which was a McDonalds on New York Ave NE in Washington. I went in and ordered a couple of cheeseburgers and a drink. The worker, who took my order spoke in broken, heavily accented English.
I then asked if there was an electrical outlet so I could plug in my laptop because my battery was almost dead. There were five or six employees in the store. The one I asked the question to could not understand enough English to answer my question. She turned to the other employees and they all conferred in Spanish. None of them spoke enough English to be able to answer a simple question.
Are they all in this country legally? I seriously doubt it. Assuming they are not, that is five or six jobs that could be handled by Americans, particularly American teens.
Of course, everything the Obama regime does seems to be designed not to help our economy and help our country, but to damage it. As we have said before on TPN, if he were merely incompetent, the law of averages would dictate that he would occasionally do something to help America.
Work is something unique to the American spirit. Americans believe in work. We value ourselves because of work. We form many of our work values as teens. Teenagers learn the American work ethic through those early jobs. Denying teens not only the money they make from summer jobs but also learning the work ethos that will last them a lifetime through those summer jobs is not just immoral. It is criminal.
We have sixteen months before the election. We must all commit ourselves to working to remove the Obama regime and the Party of Treason from power and replacing them with real Americans. We must replace them with people who understand how business works and how the free markets have made American not only rich but free.
Otherwise, by the time those teens are middle age, a free America will be nothing but a memory.

I look back to at least the late middle fifties, living in San Diego, California, I can remember as early as say age seven to twelve Years of age or so, a pack of two "Twinkies" went for 12 cents and then to 13 cents in 1961 there about. By 1965 the "Watts Riots" in L.A. had already taken place. There were also many incidents of rock throwing and arson by blacks and hispanics in the San Diego area as well. June of 1965 I finished the 9th grade and We got the HELL out of Dodge immediately thereafter. The area I resided in during My time in San Diego is now a complete sh!thole, replete with drugs, gangs, spray paint, pimps, hookers, and plenty of crime and illegal Mexicans. I was born in San Diego, lived there till almost fifteen years of age. People used to ride Their horses leisurely down the street on which I lived. In a few short years all of that abruptly ended and not even the "Ice Cream Guy" would drive around that area.
We are indeed losing the Country to the barbaric, and the ignorant and these are the People that The "Obama Regime" caters to via the working American Taxpayer.
I recommend purchasing a firearm, at least a wheel barrow full of the appropriate caliber ammo, learn how to use both, because in a few years You could be pushed to into having to do so.

It is a graduated pay scale, 16 year olds get paid less than older employees.

....you are living in the past. Many, if not most, American teens do not want to work and have no interest in doing so.
Will be interesting to see what happens if/when their parents and/or nanny state supporters that allow them to party like it's 1999, decide it is no longer feasible to do so.
Permalink Reply by Al Newman on With the exception of maybe 25% of the total, we've allowed the schools, the govt, and ignorant parents to create a vast pool of worthless teenagers some of them are up into their 30s, now. I've never seen a more worthless, lazy, fat, stupid, intitled bunch of losers in my life. They want to make $75k a year, paid up front, and then they will tell you what hours they want to work. Then you are lucky if they call at all to let you know they won't be showing up because they are sick 2 days a week, consistantly. Usually, Monday and Friday.
I am very pro-border but it makes a tough case for keeping a hard working Mexican out.
1 working Mexican = 50 worthless, lazy, fat, stupid, intitled American. Hey, maybe we could do a trade at that ratio???
