What I know about Michele Bachmann

The first National Tea Party Convention brings back both pleasant and unpleasant memories for me. We were thrilled with the success of the convention, not only because of the training many of our grassroots activists received, but because of the positive portrayal of the movement the main stream media witnessed.

However, prior to the event, there was a lot of turmoil and controversy generated not only by the left, but by people who’s motives centered on more destroying Judson and Tea Party Nation than they were in furthering the movement.  Not only were these attacks personal, they were, in most instances, total lies.

One blogger painted his warped account of his experience with Judson, when the truth was, in my opinion, he was nothing more than a grifter who tried to charge Tea Party Nation $5,000 for software that was a free download on the internet.  Once this scheme was discovered, he tried to weasel his way out by slandering Judson to anyone who would listen.

Another well known “conservative” blogger blared the headlines that Judson wanted to make a million dollars from the tea party movement. This headline was put in quotes as though he actually said it. This blogger never bothered to ask Judson if he ever said this. Nor did she have any proof other than the word of  people who had personal axes to grind.  For the record, Judson has never said this. He has, however, repeatedly stated he wanted to have a million members of Tea Party Nation fighting for conservatism.

As all of this was going on, Judson refused to give interviews to some media outlets because they made it clear from the onset they were out to do a hit piece on him.  One media contributor for AOL wrote a crucifying piece filled with stories that were completely fabricated after Judson told the “reporter” he would not do an interview. And to be clear, I have never been married before, nor have I ever lived with anyone other than my parents. I am from Richmond, Virginia and moved to Tennessee when Judson and I got married in June 1996.

In short, Judson and Tea Party Nation were “Palinized.”

Before all of this started, Judson received a phone call from someone in DC who warned him the “Journolist” were about to come after him and to be prepared. We braced for the onslaught and handled the attacks as they launched.

This brings us to Michele Bachmann. Both she and our Representative, Marsha Blackburn, were scheduled to appear at the convention. Shortly before the convention was to take place, both of them were given conflicting advice as to whether or not they could attend. They decided not to take any chances and withdrew from the convention.

While both called Judson and apologized for having to withdraw, it was Michele Bachmann who went the extra mile.

She and Judson played “telephone tag” for about an hour before they finally connected. Not one of her staff, not a secretary placing the call for her, but the Congresswoman herself continued to call Judson personally until they connected.

When they did finally connect, she apologized profusely for having to withdraw, stating that she was just sick that she could not attend. This was no five minute conversation, but one that went on for almost 45 minutes.

She could have delegated one of her staffers to take care of it. She chose not to.

This left an impression on both me and Judson that we will not forget.

Michele Bachmann is genuine. She believes in this movement and she stands by her convictions.

She is not afraid to take on the far left machine that is the main stream media, even when she knows they are out to get her. Nor is she afraid to take on critical opponents on the debate floor, as she displayed Thursday night when she was attacked by Gov. Pawlenty.

Michele Bachmann is not only the real deal, she is a leader we can count on.

Thanks Sherry, I like your input on Michelle Bachmann.  So far, she is the best that the republican's have to offer.  Wish her well.

The Tea Party has learned two buzz-words that can be used to blast anyone they want, without any proof.

NEO-CON

RINO

On the blogs, it is obvious that half the writers don't really know what those terms mean. They just use them to paint people they don't like.

Then, some people believe Ron Paul when he says that we can solve our fiscal problems by auditing the Fed and then shutting it down. WRONG! If the Fed were shut down, a spend-crazy Congress would just find another way to borrow money.

The solution is to fix Congress and put controls on borrowing in place. The Tea Party is the force to accomplish that goal. But, hoping that Ron Paul is the magic elixer to bring spending under control is just wishful thinking.

thank you for sharing that information.  It is important that it be shared.

Sherry, I have kept an eye on Michele Bachmann from the beginning.  She's strong, and, like Sarah Palin  she loves her God, her family and her country....in that order.  She leads an exemplary life, as has Sarah, and knows the difference between serving and selfish motivation.  I believe this gal IS genuine in her patriotism and in her faith.  In MHO, a person who feels that spirituality can and should be separated from service to country and fellow man, is not fit to lead!

Michele is a leader!  I respect her, and I believe my trust in her leadership of honor and integrity will not be disappointed.  I have contributed to her campaign, and I am not one to waste my meager funds on an investment I know nothing about!  She's "the real deal," as has been claimed!

Thank you for this sharing, Sherry.  It has reenforced my conviction that Michele Bachmann is destined to take her place in history with the great governing women of this world.  Strength is not theatric or rhetoric.  It is quiet, persevering determination married to understanding of responsibility.

This is a great lady, and I am proud to be a supporter of her!

she is liked by all sides ...me must protect her and surround her with prayer, finances and support

I am so glad that you told us this story. The details are important. They show how Michele is constructed and how her mind works.

No one can be "perfect" in every voter's eyes.

There are "slips". People of action do a lot of things, and sometimes they don't act "perfectly".

People can change their minds when they get new information.

When I see/hear anecdotes about someone's mistakes, I always try to follow up and see if the action was a one-time mistake, or a pattern. Or, did the person see the mistake and change their future actions?

If all of us were judged by just one anecdotal incident, none of us would make it to heaven.

Yes she is the real. She and Paul are our best hope for America.

Paul for President Michelle for VP 2 terms and then Bachmann president for 2 terms.

Reverse the order. We need Michele to be the first woman President. Otherwise, Hillary will shoot for it, and that would be a disaster for the country, worse than Obama.

Yes, michele is the real deal. I worked on her re-election campaign for congress and have no trouble volunteering again.

Sherry, this was a GREAT write-up...

I have been supporting Michelle from the beginning of this campaign process, and so far I see no reason whatosever to change my mind.

I agree. She is the real deal. Just watched her on FOX with Wallace. She was awesome. I am doubling down on my support for Michelle Bachmann.
