...we might as well get some votes out of it!

That seems to be the view of President Obama’s top aide, Valerie Jarrett, and possibly even the President himself. Jarrett boasted to the black community (National Association of Black Journalists convention in New Orleans) that the Obama administration has reduced the penalty for possession of crack cocaine compared to that of cocaine powder. Apparently, crack is the black man's drug and powdered cocaine is the white man's drug. This is what one must take away from such statements and actions. Why else would this matter specifically to a meeting of black journalists and columnists, and presumably to a black president.

The comment was made last weekend in New Orleans, and was clearly aimed at Obama’s re-election efforts. Naturally, the biased mainstream media has neglected to report on her unfortunate comments regarding crack cocaine.

A blog report by the Maynard Institute’s Richard Prince on Jarrett’s appearance was reprinted on The Root, a website owned by the Washington Post aimed at the black community.

According to Prince, Valerie Jarrett was describing “what she considered the Obama administration’s successes.” He continued, saying, "Among them funding for historically black colleges and universities; health care reform, which she said will disproportionately help African-Americans; and reducing disparities between penalties for possession of crack and for powdered cocaine.”

Prince seems to have the same take on Jarrett's statements, which, is not surprising, and from the above quote, Jarrett, herself presents the sentencing changes in a light that shows that it was in fact targeted at black voters.

How belittling is this to the black man? How ashamed must this make him feel? That the first black President of the United States of America believes that there is a predisposition among his own people to abuse one particular drug over another is astounding! Yet, who is reporting on this? Who is asking these questions?

Is the black man's vote sold so cheeply that he will elect the man because he won't put him in prison for as long for a crime that he apparently can't help committing? Obama believes that black have a propensity to smoke crack! Jarrett says that the change "will disproportionately help African-Americans." Help them to do what? Smoke crack? How does this help anyone?

Don't get this wrongly! The only racism here is within the Obama Administration. It is Barack Obama and Valerie Jarrett...the Obama Administration that is saying that black people are going to do this anyway, and we might as well seek equality...and votes. This writer only seeks to point out the blatant hypocrisy that pervades this presidency.

Other writers agree with this analysis: According to WND, DeWayne Wickham, a writer for USA Today, reported on the event for the Coshocton Tribune wrote that Jarrett touted the sentence reduction for crack-cocaine disparity as a way to build a broad Obama re-election coalition, including African-Americans.

WND quotes Wickam as having written, “To do this, Obama supporters need to unabashedly trumpet what the president has done for blacks – such as increased funding for education, universal health care and a sharp reduction in the sentencing disparity for possession of crack cocaine instead of powder, all things that Jarrett said have disproportionately benefited them.”

The Washington Post’s article on the event did not mention the subject. Instead the Post touted what they called, “Obama's ‘genuine love for black community’."

WND says, "Jarrett’s crack cocaine boast was a reference to the Fair Sentencing Act, signed into law by Obama in August 2010. The law eliminated the five-year mandatory minimum sentence for possession of crack cocaine and reduced the disparity between the amount of crack cocaine and powder cocaine needed to trigger federal criminal penalties from a 100:1 weight ratio to 18:1."

So, instead of the nation's best interest, or the best interests of its citizenry, or even the best interests of the black community, we have admission that FSA was merely a numbers game. A political numbers game always means votes, purely and simply. And, this points to a deeply-embedded problem within American government. Politicians have a built-in lust for power and votes, and often do not consider rightly in cases such as this, and do not see that instead of lowering penalties for a particular action, they should be increasing them.

To do otherwise is often to assure that the undesirable action in question will always exist! Surely, Mr. Obama knows this! If so, then he has stabbed his people in the back. But, if not, is he fit for public office? Obama would have gained more respect and votes had he vetoed FSA instead of signing it! But the votes and respect of decent people are not what Obama wants. He wants a dependant class of voters. What better way to make such dependancy than to create the perception that you can do whatever you want if you vote for a Democrat?

It's been said that you cannot legislate morality, and this is largely true. People are going to do what is in their hearts. But the opposite is also true. You cannot legalize bad behavior and then think that the resulting society is somehow more moral because of it. You've simply lowered your standards!

Interestingly, Obama himself has admitted using cocaine and marijuana in school. One of his first executive pardons as president was for a man convicted for crack cocaine.

Who is the racist? Perhaps it is better to ask 'who are the racists' because there are several!

Congress? Sort of... They continuously pander to the lowest common denominator!

Obama? Maybe... He does his race no favors by easing prison sentences! He merely assures that we will trade a certain number of individuals in prison, for a greater number of individuals in prison for a shorter time. Better to have fewer in prison, but for a longer time if necessary!

Voters? Absolutely! Liberal voters and blacks themselves are in this case, their own worst enemies. They are caving in to the notion that blacks are somehow a weak-minded people, who cannot help themselves. That they will always vote for whomever gives them the most. The sad thing is that they, as a people, who are seeking freedom in one sense, are actually closing the shackles of drug addiction even tighter, all in the name of a false sense of equality.

Why are you surprised at Obama's stance on cocaine? In "Dreams From My Father", he writes that he used marijuana and cocaine. Well documented. No problem with the Public, apparently.

Oh, how we've changed! Remember the furor when Clinton famously claimed he didn't inhale?

Perhaps Obama gets a pass, for being black. But wasn't Clinton the first black president?

I am confused....

Ironic, isn't it?  That a man can be celebrated for enslaving his own race...astounding!

I suspect that Obama was an African slave trader in a previous life...
