Tragedy in Washington today.
If you are in Washington DC, you saw one of the most amazing sites you could have seen. It was an absolute tragedy and a travesty.
What could be amazing and a tragedy and travesty all at once?
It was the final voyage of Discovery.
Discovery is the most traveled of all of the space shuttle fleet. Discovery was the third shuttle and became the oldest surviving shuttle after the loss of the two oldest shuttles, Challenger and Columbia.
The people of Washington got to see Discovery, piggybacked on a massive 747 carrier aircraft today as it was being transported to Dulles International Airport to be placed on display.
Discovery first flew in 1984, when America was at its greatest. Ronald Reagan was President. The Soviet Union was slowly collapsing and Americans saw our nation as the great shining city on the hill and we believed it was “Morning in America.”
No longer.
Discovery was decommissioned during the administration of a President who is an anti-American Marxist and who wants to see America retreat from its greatness.
Discovery was old, as were all of the other shuttles. They should have been replaced. The light finally came on for the Bush administration late. They realized America needs a space program and Bush proposed the Constellation program and the Orion space program.
Obama killed the Constellation program and modified Orion so it is only an Earth orbiting vehicle, if it ever sees the light of day. Obama, who believes that is the mission of NASA to make sure Muslims feel good about science, ensuring that the United States, the nation that landed men on the moon, would no longer have a manned space flight capability.
Today, while we have spent billions on the International Space Station, the only way we can get there is for the Russians to give us a ride on the Soyuz Space Craft. Given our tenuous relations with Russia, the real question is how much longer will this ability last.
How long will it be before there is a blow up between Russia and the United States and Russia simply cuts us off from access to the International Space Station?
Russia has already announced plans for the ISS to be forced into a controlled reentry in 2020.
Really?
We paid for the damn thing. Who do they think they are?
Oh wait; they think they are the only nation that can deliver Americans to the ISS.
Allegedly Orion will be ready for manned space flight in 2020. Given the track record of government programs that is hard to believe they will have it on time and of course that assumes that Obama and the Party of Treason do not kill it in a second Obama term.
Discovery is now grounded. The once proud space ship is now simply a hollowed shell, on display to remind us that at one time America was a space faring nation. Meanwhile Russia and China are both working on manned flights to the moon.
If Obama has his way, Russia and China will go to the moon and America will go into obscurity.
We need to remember this as we go to the polls this fall.

Yes, I also feel the pain of cutbacks and the fear of American decline in the space program. This is similar to what is going on in North Korea with the latest failed attempt to send a rocket into space. This communist regime barely has sufficient assets to feed the population. Yet, they miraculously find revenues to continue with their program amid continued world isolation. I find this strange. Now to the tea party for my take on how outraged a small segment of the soon-to be -disbanded group of doomsayers hope to fix our nation by allocating more funds to the space program. Wake up America! Our nation leads the world in deficit spending programs while no one is willing to share the burden of real sacrifice. Our infrastructure is in shambles, we treat our elderly and disadvantaged harshly and our health costs continue to skyrocket out of control.While all of this takes place, our president is insulted and made a scapegoat for our nation's ills. In my lifetime I have never witnessed a lack of regard and respect for our president. It is shameful. In closing, when the tea party can fix the nation's social failures and all Americans are treated as equals in the greatest nation in the free world, perhaps we can revisit budget considerations for the space program. We require fairness, honesty and respect for all Americans first. Call it socialism,idealism or any "ism" you can name. I call it the right thing to do.

This so called president deserves no respect. He may not have been the cause of all our problems but has taken any problems we have had and multiplied them ten fold. No he should be reviled for the usurper he is. ABO!!! Jan. 20th, 2013 THE END OF AN ERROR!!!

I'm sure KOS or DU would greatly appreciate your institutionalized ignorance on their blogs, you should head back over there because what you say only makes sense for the other morons of your ilk. Our nation leads the world in deficit spending? Did you intentionally drop the context or do you hope no one will notice? We lead the world in deficit spending because we have allowed politicians to turn us into a bunch of easily manipulated special interests all of which are promised the stolen proceeds of those who create the values in this nation. Progressives and any other sort of leftists are the primary culprits in creating the deficits about which you complain. The vast majority of our deficits and unfunded liabilites come from unconstitutional garbage enacted by power lusting morons from the left. Additionally, the left has been allowed to create numerous classes of victims and entitlement gangs all of which are then turned on each other and everyone else in a disgusting spectacle of social cannibalism.
The left has created the "social failures" you complain about and set Americans against each other at every turn and you have the unmitigated gall to come here and complain? Really moron?
You can call whatever you want anything you want, that is your right, however, as a leftist and a member of the worlds largest political mass murder cult you have no moral standing to debate anything with anyone ever.

I'll never forget the infamous day that Ovomit changed the mission statement of NASA to "Muslim outreach". Lots of people still don't know that. The Muslim in Chief wants the chief focus of America's pride, NASA, to be "Muslim outreach". The space shuttle program at Kennedy Space Center in Titusville, Florida, was completely disbanded, which devastated the local economy, and that of all the surrounding area of Florida's "Space Coast", along with putting literally thousands of Floridians out of work. We will never forget what the Muslim in Chief has done to our state. Never.

I saw it fly over and do the Wash Mon fly by from my house on W Street. I bawled. The end of an era...for now. We will go there again one day once we right the direction of this country in November.
