Perhaps not thinking about Libya for a while might be the best way to avoid a massive headache. Unfortunately, not thinking about a major crisis is not an option, unless of course, you are Barack Obama.
What started out as a bad idea is quickly devolving into a disaster of biblical proportions. To quote Charlie Sheen, Barack Obama is not “winning.” In fact, Operation Odyssey Dawn may need to be renamed Operation Epic Fail.
How do we take these disasters? Probably in no particular order as that seems to be Obama’s plan, no particular order.
The Germans have bailed. No one should blame them. They withdrew two ships and an AWACS plane after expressing concerns they could be sucked into a war if NATO is put in charge of this operation. Putting NATO in charge is only slightly worse than having Obama in charge.
Tensions are now raw between the US and Britain as the British announced killing Qaddafi was a perfectly acceptable objective. United States Secretary of Defense Robert Gates shot back saying that was “unwise.” Memo to the SECDEF, this whole operation was unwise.
The British have stopped firing Tomahawk missiles at Libya after basically running out of them. They do have others in storage, but at least privately they have to be asking themselves, if they use them all on Libya, will they get any to replace the ones they have used?
Now, there is a proposal to have a “war committee” control the no fly zone in Libya. Has no one ever heard the expression death by committee? This would be literally death by committee for a lot of people, including, probably some Americans. This is a stupid idea. In fact, in the record book of stupid ideas, this one deserves a page all by itself.
By turning this war into a war by committee, Obama may well do something most Americans consider unthinkable. That is putting American troops under the command of another nation.
And of course, how could we forget, Al-Qaida is supporting the rebels. Why on earth would Al-Qaida be supporting the rebels? Perhaps they are Islamists and want to turn Libya into an Islamic state.
There are a few simple principles of war that Obama does not seem to have mastered. They are not really that hard.
First, if you go to war, have a very good reason to do so. There is not one here.
Second, when you go to war, have a plan. Have objectives for victory and figure out how the war will end. It is very clear, this thought has not even crossed Obama’s mind.
Third, have a post war strategy. Every leader who starts a war goes into that war with the belief they will win. We can destroy Libya’s military; there is simply no question about that. We can eventually capture or kill Qaddafi. There is no question about that. What happens after Qaddafi? Do we end up with a pro-western democracy or do we end up with another Islamic state? Has Obama even thought about this? Probably not.
Fourth. Have a clue as to how you are going to pay for the war. Of course, Obama has not had a clue as to how he will pay for anything else, other than by printing more money, why should this one be a surprise.
Finally, have a basic understanding of the first dynamic of warfare. Once a war is started, it is uncontrollable. It is like a wild fire. It will move in directions not anticipated and there will be consequences not planned for.
On so many levels, Obama’s less than excellent adventure into Libya is rapidly turning into a disaster. We can only hope that Congress will exercise its constitutional authority and stop this madness before the price is too high.

#1 - When 2 forces are un-evenly matched, the weaker one loses quickly. Last week, Ghadaffi's side had gotten its' superior firepower organized and was winning against the rebels (backed by al Qaida, Hamas, etc.). If the USA had stayed out of it, the rebellion would be winding down very soon and Libya's oil would return to the world market shortly thereafter too.
But, Hillary, Obama, and their idiot pals at the UN stepped in.
Now, without an air force (USAF B-2 bombers blew them up) and quite a few other resources, the sides are more evenly matched. In war, stalemates last a long time and have heavy casualties on both sides. Whoever wiil finally win, Libya will be severely depleted and its oil fields will not be supplying the world market for a very long time. Therefore the price of oil energy will tend to remain as high as it is today due to a lack of that supply (supply vs. demand capitalism rules communists and Muslims as much as it does Americans).
#2 - US Constitution - Art. I, Sec. 8, clause 11
NO TREATY nullifies, supersedes, or amends the US Constitution. That includes US membership in the UN.
Obama ordered US forces to commit an act of War without any emergency (from a US point of view) against Libya illegally without Congress' Approval.
Price tag for 3 days of Obama and Hillary's Gun-Boat Diplomacy:
no American deaths reported yet (?),
but one F-15E jet @ $31 Million (crashed),
$114 Million worth of cruise missiles,
40 bombs from 3 B-2 Bombers,
bombs and rockets from numerous other airplanes,
unknown hundreds of thousands of gallons fuel for the support ships, airplanes, helicopters, attending support boats,
hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of other consumable supplies used up at a rate not seen during peace time operations.

There are many violations he has committed against the Constitution, but the biggest, most obvious, and most irrefutable is the fact that he is not a natural born citizen, due to his father being a foreign national. He need not be impeached. In fact due to the make up and mindset of the Senate, impeachment would not result in removal from office. Let the Supreme Court adjudicate his eligibility.
Permalink Reply by David J Edwards on March 23, 2011 at 6:21pm Obama has committed several impeachable offenses. This illegal act of war against a foreign nation without the existence of any threat to the USA is merely the biggest recent one.
But his blunder may be of Hillary's doing. She pressed him to attack Libya. That crude clown Biden is no threat to her in an election bid. If she creates a fiasco to look like all Obama's fault, and gets rid of him, she moves a big step closer to a Democrat candidacy to the White House in 2012.
Interesting.

Obama is, at best, a ideologue with rigid, set patterns of thought.
Hillary is patient and devious enough to manipulate much stronger individuals.
To be half flippant, Hillary caught Barack's brain (Michelle) off guard; preoccupied with another international shopping trip with interesting and different foods in Brazil.
Everyone has an Achilles's heel.
