Hank Williams has apologized for his statements comparing Obama to Hitler. Certainly this was the price that had to be paid for ESPN to reinstate his “Are you ready for Football” song on Monday night football.
You are welcome to think what ever you like about Hank Williams statement, but his apology is a sign of something else.
What is it?
It is the lack of thought and conviction that now infects American conservatism. Hank Williams made his statement about Obama. Agree or disagree, he made the statement and it reflects his sentiment about Obama.
Hank Williams does not like Obama. Neither does most of America. The problem is if you are going to have to apologize about something you say, why in the hell did you say it to begin with?
Earlier this year, Herman Cain said he would not appoint Muslims to his Cabinet. He said this not on one occasion but several occasions. This is clearly something he believes. Or presumably he believed it at the time he said it.
On July 26th, Herman Cain met with Muslim leaders then came out of the meeting and, you guessed it, apologized.
My problem is not with either what Hank Williams or Herman Cain said. It is with their apology. Either you believe what you are saying or you do not. It is a pretty simple concept.
If you do not believe it, keep your mouth shut. If you believe it, why are you apologizing?
John Wayne, in one of his movies had a great line. He said, “never apologize. It is a sign of weakness.” Apologies are appropriate at certain times. If you step on someone’s foot, you apologize. If you belch at the dinner table you apologize. If you have to interrupt someone while they are talking, you apologize.
You do not apologize for your beliefs. If you have to apologize for your beliefs, it means you have no beliefs.
This lack of beliefs and lack of character is one of the reasons why Americans are so sick of Washington and politics in general. Is it asking too much for a politician to get out there and say, “Here is what I believe. Take it or leave it but this is what I believe.” Unfortunately, politicians and celebrities now crumble at the first sign of pressure and rush to perform ceremonial apologies. Conservatives are the worst. Liberals rarely apologize but conservatives, at the slightest offense, real or imagined, are expected to prostrate themselves before their enemies and engage in ritual self-flagellation. Unfortunately, most of them do.
When is the left going to apologize to George Bush and Dick Cheney for being right about the global war on terror? Don’t expect that anytime in the next thousand years or so.
When Cain apologized, he said, “I remain humble and contrite for any statements I have made that might have caused offense to Muslim Americans and their friends. I am truly sorry for any comments that may have betrayed my commitment to the U.S. Constitution and the freedom of religion guaranteed by it.”
He might as well have said, “I don’t really believe anything I said before.”
Conservatives could learn a lot from John Wayne. The Duke was absolutely right when he said don’t apologize. It is a sign of weakness.

This Huge Threat to America is barly second to the Obamantion Ad,inistration and the Progressive/Marist in Congress, yet I am not aware of any site that is even making an attempt to Educated the American people about this threat or is even making any effort to force, our suposed true leaders to get with it and stop pretending it does not exist, yet none speak out or acting to Protect America. The only ones that have said anything are Rep West & Glenn Beck.
Do you or anyone have an explination for this? ? ?

I am a disabled nam vet, a Tea Partier, hold my allegiance to this country and the constitution near and dear. There are many in Congress who are nothing but gutless wonders. After 9/11 their first response was to erect barriers and protect themselves in Washington. They have no will to face an enemy. They have no second thoughts about sending American troops in harms way without defining an enemy. We all understand what radical Islam is about. It does not always constitute using military action, it constitutes using police action to target specific groups of enemies. This is a multi-faceted problem and between the economic problems, the Islamic threat and an incompetent President and administration this country is in a rough patch. Only by going back to the Constitution can it be salvaged. This is what the Tea Party is for.... life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. If you opt for security over freedom you deserve neither, as Franklin said. You may disagree with the dynamic and some of the talking heads....you must agree with us in principle?

I totaly agree with you, so why have none of the Tea Partys even taken up this issue or made an effort to educated the American People or made any effort to control their insidus infiltration, and efforts to Replace US Law by Sharia Law, or to expell all those that Support the Islamic Caliphate that has invaded America? ? ?

I took the oath to support and defend the Constitution in 1960... I am still bound by it!
I believe you are not seeing the true TP if you are only looking at the talking heads or even the organized groups. Many more agree with their principles and are working to reinstate the Principles that founded this great Republic.
This blatantly corrupt Administration has shined the light into the corrupt political establishment. those who are actively participating and those watching and doing nothing!
Someone has said, 'Never pick a fight with an old guy, if he can't fight he'll kill you!'. It was said in jest, but politically I think it has thrown down the gauntlet with the elderly, the military ( ROE!), the Jewish population, the younger population ( jobs and debt), small business and possibly minority voters.
It will be interesting !

I am not fearful, because No Matter What God is in Control and Just Maybe this might be God's Judgement of this Nation for our sins. Which Ones?
Abortion, Gay Rights, Murder,Pornography, Drugs, And the list goes on and on and not to mention the Corruption in our Government too.
IF it comes to a war in this Country, Many Veterans are ready and loaded and if it comes to the streets, We need to know who the enemy is. I know!
AND BY THE WAY, THANK GOD FOR THE TEA PARTY, If the tea party had never been around, the Corrupt Government and THUG in the Whitehouse woud have gotten away with a lot more. Most of us are well informed
We may disagree on who we want as the next President but we will get it together when the Nation needs us.
