You know you are a threat to the left when the media comes after you. That has been in full display this week as the media went after two friends of Tea Party Nation.
The Washington Post decided to go after Senator Marco Rubio yesterday.
Marco Rubio is an American of Cuban decent. His parents were Cuban exiles. The Washington Post tried to create the impression that some how he lied about his parents and how they came to be in the United States and not in Cuba.
The Post claims that Rubio gave speeches where he claimed his parents were forced to flee Cuba. Unfortunately, that seems to be an exercise in creating writing, as the Post cannot site one example of Senator Rubio ever giving such a speech.
He has repeatedly told people that his parents came to America prior to Castro’s rise and wanted to return to Cuba when things improved in Cuba. His family went back to Cuba briefly after Castro took power and when they realized how bad things were, they left.
Basically, the Washington Post has made the claim that Rubio told people things he did not say, and then called him a liar for things he never said. Even if Rubio got some of the details of his family’s history with Cuba and Castro wrong (which he did not), he does have an excuse. His family came to America in the mid fifties. The Cuban revolution was in 1959 and his family left Cuba for the last time around 1960. Rubio was not born until 1971.
Marco Rubio is a rising star in Republican politics. He is a Tea Party conservative, which is why the left is trying to take him down.
Another friend of Tea Party Nation got a good taste of liberal love this week. Melissa Brookstone wrote a blog on Tea Party Nation, which we featured on Tuesday. The left hyperventilated over this one. Keith Olbermann told his three viewers that Melissa was the worst person in the world. Liberals went on Melissa’s personal blog saying terrible things about her. They attacked her business and wrote bad reviews about a book she has on Amazon, that they have never read.
Liberals have also been trying to create the story that Tea Party Nation is calling for a small business strike. Tea Party Nation features a lot of blogs and bloggers. The only time something is an official position of Tea Party Nation is when it comes out under my byline or the Tea Party Nation byline. Of course, being accurate or for that matter even truthful is not a major goal of the left.
Melissa’s blog and the reaction to it, shows the difference between liberals and those who think liberty is a good idea. Liberals believe there is only one idea, namely their idea. Anything or anyone who disagrees with them must be shut down. No unauthorized ideas are permitted.
We conservatives believe in the free market of ideas. We are not afraid of ideas. We debate ideas. We like ideas. Liberals do not like ideas because they are threatened by them.
Someone like Marco Rubio threatens the liberal establishment. He is a threat to them because he is willing to speak out for freedom and liberty and they cannot answer him. His life is a testimony to something the left wants us to ignore. That is the simple fact that socialism sucks and every time socialism is imposed upon people the end result is poverty, tyranny and often, mass murder.
That is what happened in the Rubio’s homeland of Cuba. Of course, those inconvenient facts fly in face of what liberals want us to believe. So Marco Rubio must be discredited. Twenty years ago, the Post could have gotten away with its hit piece on Marco Rubio. With the Internet and the conservative media, that is no longer possible.
As for Melissa, she is not a public figure, yet has had to put up with the full onslaught of liberal outrage. Melissa offered an opinion and instead of debating the idea, the left has tried to silence her.
Melissa’s original blog is here. Whether you agree with her or not, stop by and encourage her to keep expressing her opinion.
At Tea Party Nation, we often talk about the need to defeat liberalism. Both stories are examples of why liberalism is incompatible with liberty and why it must be defeated. Liberalism is about the control of speech and thought and the suppression of any belief that does not agree with the liberal orthodoxy. Liberty means that we debate ideas and let the free market of ideas decide which one’s have merit and which ideas do not.
Liberty must prevail and that is why we should support both Senator Marco Rubio and Melissa Brookstone.

Permalink Reply by 74jeepman on October 21, 2011 at 8:24am I write opinion for the local paper www.couriernews.com in our city and have a facebook page RIVERVALLEY CONSERVATIVES. The local lefties have found out who invested in my business and attacked his business with boycott threats. It is amazing how I never attacked any person in particular but write about the abuses of big government. These lefties do not seem to be able to have the conversation/debate or even respond in the paper thru letters to the editor. They get upset, block you on facebook then attack your business and associations to try to shut you up.
In my case it I have to give in or possibly effect dozens of people's livelihood. It is ridiculous.

Permalink Reply by Sumsanity on October 21, 2011 at 8:41am Another year of their crap and in November 2012 we will complete the destruction of the brief rise to power of the radical left. Oh they won't ever go away completely, they will just be beaten back down into the dark corner from which they emerged. Then we will have to remove the tax borrow and spenders in the Republican Party. If we don't America will go the way of every great nation a lot sooner than it will happen otherwise.
Permalink Reply by Katie Kalpin on October 21, 2011 at 8:48am I don't want to protest all small business...there are some out there that are saying that if it was not for big business then we wouldn't have what we have! So not all and Obama is going after them as well. But I understand what Melissa is saying, I am a conservative so I am not stupid. ;) Obama and the left are watching their power go from being here in America to being sent down the same sewer that Kaddafi was found in. They are sacred and they are seeing that others are hearing us and they are seeing that we are right. So they are going to attack anyway that they can...we need to call them Racist's on Rubio's behalf and make SURE that fellow Cubans hear about it and understand that they are under attack by the left that claims they love them so much! Let them have a bit of their own Medican!! then we'll see how they like it! We don't have too stoop to their levels..but come close. ;)
Permalink Reply by J. Andrew Reid on October 21, 2011 at 8:53am The left cannot win on the truth and they never could. Their trademark is misrepresentation which they call "rhetoric". Rhetoric, I have learned first hand, is a euphemism for an outright lie told to fool voters into thinking your opponent is a mean spirited person who wants your grandparents to die quickly. If a person has to lie to voters to win their support then that candidate obviously has designs that he or she cannot admit to the electorate. In plain language, they are dishonest and not worthy of our trust.
I pray that people are starting to realize this sad truth.

Permalink Reply by Larry Anderson on October 21, 2011 at 9:25am Way to go, Judson Keep exposing the Left's SICK ideology. I wished that Marco
Rubio was running for President, he'd have my vote. I know Melissa personally
and have a autographed copy of her book, "The Planetary Bill Of Rights". I think
since Melissa is one of us and the Left is demonizing her that we should show
our support for her by buying her book on Amazon.
