When did our children, in North Clackamas School District, become targets for partisan manipulation by being required to campaign for Democratic candidates as "Community Service"?
BACKGROUND INFO: Recently a young student of North Clackamas School District signed up for "community service" along with other students. The students were asked to meet at Grant High School in Portland. They were met by Sen. Ron Wyden (D) who gave them a pep talk then they "Get On The Bus" and head out to Happy Valley where Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian (D) spoke to them. After that our School Board Chair Cheryl Myers and Democrat candidate for Oregon House, told them she wanted to be the "first Asian-American elected as a Representative in Portland." Their final send-off was a talk by Representative Jefferson Smith (D). The students were then given lists of names and addresses of Democratic voters and told they had to knock on the door and give them the "pitch" about Cheryl Myers. This was supposed to be a "community service" project whose hours are required for graduation.
At this point Patricia, winning or loosing becomes secondary to raising public awareness to the opposition. And as with one's faith, we must rely on our training at home to weather the tide with our children.
It is overdue for our Conservatives, in Congress, to propose censure. Every time this kind of overstep occurs we need a response on the Floor of the Senate and the House.
