I have a question for Republicans in the Congress. Are you really this dumb or are you making a special effort for us?
Six weeks ago, Republican victory rode across the country. It was not a Republican victory. It was the American people telling the Obama regime that we were tired of them blowing money. We were tired of being spent into socialism.
For a bright and shining moment, it looked like the GOP got the message.
We should have known better. McConnell and Boehner went up to the White House and promptly surrendered. In exchange for the dubious benefit of extending the Bush tax cuts for two years (or perhaps we should say, forgoing the Obama tax hikes for two years), we are going to have a massive extension of unemployment benefits. They are going to go from less than two years to three years. This is not going to be funded by the federal government, which means states and small businesses are going to have to pay for this.
In the Senate, a massive bill is being crafted to fund the government through next September. This includes money to fund Obamacare.
How stupid can the Republicans be? This is Democratic class stupidity. They are going to fund Obamacare, help his strategy of creating the benefits so that people will oppose the repeal of Obamacare and helping to anger and fracture the Republican base, all at once. Fortunately, Tom Coburn of Oklahoma is standing up to this in the Senate.
Even more appalling, in the bill are all kinds of, you guessed it, earmarks. There are subsidies for windmills, ethanol, and the list go on!
Earth to McConnell, here is a clue. No bill, no agreement is better than a bad bill and a bad agreement.
When the Tea Party movement came out in droves to put the Republicans back into control of the House and boosted the GOP numbers in the Senate, we did it for a reason. We want the spending cut! End of discussion.
Recently McConnell said the problem was the “abuse” of earmarks. No one has ever accused Mitch McConnell of being the sharpest knife in the drawer and he certainly proves it. The problem is not the “abuse of earmarks.” The problem is earmarks. As long as you have them, you will have out of control spending.
This whole tax bill is a disaster. Kill it and start over in January. Passing no bill is better than a bad bill and this is a very bad bill. It will only cost a trillion dollars or so and do little more than help Obama be re-elected.
Message to the GOP. Remember Mike Castle? Remember Robert Bennett? Remember Charlie Crist?
2010 was the first election cycle for the Tea Party movement. It will not be our last. Pass this bill and we are going to start looking for primary challengers those who were dumb enough to vote for this bill. Do as we the people want, or we the people will replace you.

Many people are not going to look for jobs as long as the government keeps paying them not to work. 26 weeks of unemployment is enough. There are jobs out there, they may not be the highest paying, but if people need money they'll work. The more people work, the more new jobs will be created. If hard working American taxpayers have to keep footing the bill for those who don't want to work they have less to spend and thereby stifling the economy even more. Quit the government handouts; unemployment, welfare, food stamps, etc. Clean these programs up so that only those who really qualify get assistance and then for a limited time - not for a life time.
Permalink Reply by Chris Bee on December 10, 2010 at 12:05pm Yes, there are many jobs out-there. But, if all "they" want to pay is 10-13$ an hour and you have to pay $13 for the childcare (what if it's more than 1 child?), where is the common sense?
And, do you know whom you leave your children with?
That does not even take into account taxes due on your $13/ hr income. Just count...
My unemployment benefits have been killed after just 6 months by some unemployment judge. They do not care that I have 2 small children that cost a tone of money to properly raise. And why would they? For all these bozos connected to international banking "elite" and Masons ("Illuminati") all that matters is here and now...
Of course if you are over 50 and God protect had a major surgery, you might as well voluntarily terminate your life.
We need to chase nihilistic "young at heart" hippies to the Moon. Let them built their brilliantly experimental same sex society there.
If TEA party fails, America is cooked.
Permalink Reply by WALTER KLUKSA on December 10, 2010 at 2:30pm i just turned 62 and was so pleased to see unemployment might go to 3 yrs. then i could get laid off and goldbick until i retire and pay less for my health care than i do now and unemployment is only 30 bucks away from what i take home now. FANTASTIC, whoops i forgot i had self respect and worked all my life from 5am till whenever.
no wonder they get reelcted, with perks like this,. the great masses want their crap.
all i have to do is keep the underhanded slobs in power.......hmmmmmmmmmmm............ nope rather starve.

Permalink Reply by Mindy on December 10, 2010 at 10:45am AMEN!!! I sat wide eyed as I watched all this unfold. Where the heck is "bulldog" Boehner? What's going on with this?? And I'm just about tired of watching the smaller tea parties do nothing. We need to make a difference, we need to be on the march, we need to be on the phones.................Will SomEONE PLEASE DOOOOO SOMETHING!!
Permalink Reply by Allen Diffee on December 10, 2010 at 10:47am Is there a rep from TPN in D.C. to deliver the message to the "idiots" Boehner, and McConnell? Do they not understand the impact of their descision to "go along"? Geez, let the taxes go up! Maybe it would make an opportunity for the "Fair Tax" to be passed, and we can rid our nation of the tyranny of the beaurocrats. Better to swallow the bitter pill now, than to succomb to a slow death by the democraps.
Permalink Reply by Mindy on December 10, 2010 at 10:55am I can't believe it's all happening again. Where can I find a list of the GOP people we electd in November ? We need to start a phone campaign like no other to be sure they remember why they were elected and be reminded of what the expectation is. I don't care if it takes a govt shutdown for a few days. What i care about is that the folks we sent to Washington continue to be mindful of their promised obligation to reduce the size of govt, stop tax raises, find a solution to the deficit, protect individual rights, support our military, stop ALL earmarks, and GET THE JOB DONE! I'm sick to my stomach of the bargaining and the compromising.
Permalink Reply by USAF Debbie on December 10, 2010 at 11:09am Time for another visit to these yahoo's, BUT NOT IN DC! Conservative Grassroots groups (tea party and otherwise) in and around the states where McConnell and Boehner are from need to camp outside their offices in KY and OH! It's time for the reverse town hall meetings to take place!! We set them up and tell them where to be and when. We set the agenda and make them answer the questions!!
Permalink Reply by Dave3200 on December 10, 2010 at 10:49am They figure they're safe for awhile. No need to dwell on something that happened over a month ago. They'll have plenty of time to re-motivate the "unwashed" fifteen or sixteen months from now. In the interim it's all "make hay while the sun shines".
Oh, did someone mention we're expected to trust them? Oh. Just like last time we put them in control. right? Yeah, right....
We can see by their Committee appointments how much we can trust them. Boehner is a bad mistake.
Permalink Reply by Herrmann Glockler on December 10, 2010 at 10:50am I guess this time we were saved by the enemy.
We need to be much more on guard.
We should have a good chance to straighten out Boehnert, once the newly elected rep's are coming in but I am afraid, McConnell will just not do. Hopefully prior to the 2012 election results
Permalink Reply by John R. Lancellotti on December 10, 2010 at 12:46pm MY OPINION? DEMOCRATS HAVE NEVER SEEN A TAX DOLLAR THEY DIDN'T LOVE TO SPEND.
Permalink Reply by Clarence E. DeBarrows on December 10, 2010 at 12:59pm Oh, Please! It's all about whose ox is being gored! It makes no difference what percentage of voters say that spending should be cut for when anyone attempts to do just that those involved in the cuts, the nurse's, the teachers, the firemen, the police and every government employee in every jurisdiction simply goes nuts. For all his ineptness Scharzenegger attempted to make sensible cuts in the California budget, but he was thwarted at every turn by pressure groups (read pandering politicians and their lackeys) representing those who would be affected by the cuts. Everyone, from the unwed mother with 6 kids on welfare to those who have been out of work since their grandparents generation set up such a howl that the whole system shuts down. Get real, we've turned in to an entitlement society. The politicians pander and the congenitally entitled perpetuate.
