Football has its two-minute drill. The idea is simple. There are two minutes left in the game and the team needs a score to tie or win the game. Newt Gingrich has just hit the two-minute warning. It’s the fourth quarter of the campaign and he either needs to score a touch down to get this game into overtime or he’s done.
What does he do?
In football terms, the two-minute warning has just sounded. Newt is down by seven. He has the ball first and ten at his own twenty yard line. He’s got to go and score by Super Tuesday to kick this into overtime.
No one doubts that Newt can do this. The question is will he?
Permalink Reply by Jack Roth on February 3, 2012 at 8:37am I never thought I would ever say this but I would rather have Ron Paul then Mitt Romney. Romney has now proposed indexing Minimum Wage Rate increases to the cost of living. That is about as progressive as it gets and I'm afraid this is just the beginning.
Permalink Reply by Louanne Pinkham on February 3, 2012 at 8:45am Sorry! I cannot and will not force myself to vote for Romney. I voted for McCain due to his forgeign policy and Palin as his VP, but will not vote for someone this time that I feel is a Moderate or leaning too far left. I already have two moderate, RINO US Senators from Maine and cannot wait for their terms to be up for grabs. I do feel a vote for whoever the GOP candidate is a slam dunk against Obama, but this is all going to be a very long process the way it is looking now. May the force be with us all....Negative ads I am sure will drive all crazy this summer into fall. Imagine how much negative bashing an incumbent President can present with over $1B in spending $$$$. I hope to God that dead people do not continue to vote. That is just crazy.

Permalink Reply by Doug Nicholson on February 4, 2012 at 2:30am Louanne and Fitz, if Romney gets the nomination, Odumbo will thank you both. Personally, I would vote for A-N-Y-B-O-D-Y if they were running against the current Liar-In-Chief.
ABO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Permalink Reply by Tim Sheflin on February 3, 2012 at 8:57am Really. Only four primaries complete, 1032 delegates to be collected, and you want us to believe that Newt is in a 2 minute drill? I say there is a lot of time yet and that the important goal here is to keep the delegates out of Romney's camp. If we can arrive at an "open" convention, we could finally have say in who our candidate is.
Permalink Reply by Helaine Chersonsky on February 3, 2012 at 9:07am Helaine, you are falling into the trap George Soro's has set for you and other Republicans. It is reverse psychology 101. Romney is nothing like Obama & Soro's knows it. He also knows that Republicans are always out smarted by the left. So all he has to do is promote Romney and he knows that will discourage Republicans to vote for him. Romney is the guy who can beat Obama. The left is trying to choose the Republican candidate and that is exactly what Soro's and Donna Brazil's comments are all about. Dahhhhhhhh! I am beginning to believe that many of the newby's on TPN are really Liberal's trying to muddle the process. If so, they are doing a good job at it.
Permalink Reply by Mollie Baxter on February 9, 2012 at 6:15am I am a newby on here because I got sick and tired of the Tea Party talking and not acting. I have been active in local politics since March of 2010 but have followed them closely since I was in high school. I am 68. I have become a State Delegate in SC. We don't like Romney because he is NOT a Conservative and never has been! Even while running as a Conservative his main platform is that he knows how to create jobs! Well, big news flash - that is not the government's job! Obama's "creating jobs" has gotten us in this mess. As Governor he was for gun control. There is NO DOUBT that ObamaCare was modeled after his state plan. Have you read how well that is working in MA.? Maybe your "newbies" have been too busy trying to work their way into the establishment and gather the true facts, so that we can inform others. The media surely is not. All they are doing is quoting polls and pundits! What a bunch of bull!!

Permalink Reply by Mollie Baxter on February 9, 2012 at 5:50am Joseph, considering that Mitt's father, grandfather, great grandfather etc. were all Mexicans and born in Mexico, I imagine he has an answer worked out already. Or he might just come back with a response about how a "Christian Obama" can quote the "Holy Qur'an" and does often! And how he loves the sound of morning and evening prayers. Romney is SO unqualified to represent Conservatives in so many other areas that I doubt we have to get into religion - another freedom Obama is taking away from us. Well, SCOTUS did that long ago but Obama is really pushing it!
Permalink Reply by Rich Tomassetti on February 9, 2012 at 8:20am Gail, I agee, I also am backing Newt. I think that Allen West will be entering this race before long but will fall short. I beleive the ideal pairing to win the White House would be Gingrich/West, a duo of give em h*&^, hard hitting real conservatives.
