Occasionally someone says something really smart.  Sometimes it is obvious, but wise.  Sometimes the source of the wisdom is not someone everyone likes.  That still does not take away from it.  Today, one of our politicians said something very obvious, but fairly bright.

Who said it and what was said?

It was Rick Perry at the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans.   He said, "It saddens me when sometimes my fellow Republicans duck and cover in the face of pressure from the left. Our party cannot be all things to all people. Our opponents on the left are never going to like us, so let's quit trying to curry favor with them!"

Could we get this message and tattoo it on the foreheads of a number of Republicans?

The left does not like conservatives.  In fact, the words hate and despise would probably not be sufficiently strong to describe how they feel about us.  If you doubt this, just go to one of the leftist websites like the Daily Kos and see what they write about conservatives.

Many conservatives view liberals as just nice but misguided people.  If we are nice to them, they will see that we are nice people and we can all work together.

It does not work that way.  The left does not like conservatives.  The left does not like Patriotic Americans.  The left does not like America.

Unfortunately for America and for us, the Republican Party is now dominated by people like John Boehner and Lindsay Graham who always want to reach across the aisle so they can compromise and reach an agreement.

Here’s a question?  When does the left ever reach across the aisle?  When does the left ever want to compromise?  The answer is never.

Does anyone remember what one of Newt Gingrich’s first acts as Speaker of the House was?  He rewrote the House rules to allow for something the Democrats had never allowed to that point, rights for the minority party.  Under Gingrich, the minority party could actually have an impact and do some things.   Does anyone remember what one of the first things Nancy Pelosi did when she took over as Speaker?  She rewrote the House rules to eliminate all of the minority rights Gingrich had put in.

Does anyone remember Obama’s reaction to the suggestion that he compromise with the Republicans in 2009?  He said, “we won.” There was no compromise.

So many in the Republican Party in congress act like co-dependent wives. ‘Oh, if I am only nice to him, he will quit beating me.’  In their case, they think if they are just “bipartisan” with the left, if they just reach across the aisle a bit more and compromise, the left will like them.

It is not going to happen.

The left will never like conservatives.  The fight we wage against socialism is a battle of good against evil.  It is a battle of liberty and freedom against tyranny.   The left gets this.  They are in this fight to win it.

We need Republicans who are in this fight to win it.

Rick Perry gets it.  He may or may not run for President, but he gets it.  We need a lot more Republicans to figure it out. Liberals are not our friends.  They never will be our friends.  We don’t need to try to curry favor with them.

We need to defeat them as Reagan defeated communism.

Socialism (the introductory phase of Marxist-communist universal slavery in America and the West) is an economy of enforced parasitism whereby those who produce feed those who do not produce.

The Left are Socialists.  They are as sympathetic to the productive Conservative Right as a mugger or rapist is to their victim... or as any tick, leach, or vampire bat is merciful to its blood maker... not at all.  They are utterly self-centered and callously selfish to a degree that is currently deemed to be inhuman or pathological.. i.e. -  insane.

All human societies have some level of tolerable, but usually temporary, parasitism.  But in adopting Socialism as the economic base, nation forces the populace into an Economically  parasitic system which automatically condemns the rapidly worn out and declining numbers of productive people to lives of slavery (which degrade rapidly).  Since the un-productive people are making no contribution anyway, the nation decays. That decline ends up as a slow, social suicide. How long that death takes may depend on how smart the criminal element is at evading the enforceement of Laws driving the nation to its grave.  A skillful and well organized underground economy might keep a nation alive for several years.

...at least that was true before so many computers, phones, and satellites became so well adapted to tracking everyone all the time.  Nowadays, illicit survival will not be so long.

What does a recently failed society look like?  Just check out those starving  Zimbabwe people (formerly Rhodesia, Africa).  Their story is a sad one.  If you go there in person, do try to avoid stepping on dead bodies.

Well said David, we can just look around the world at the failed communist countries, the poverty and misery because socialism is a failure every where it has been. I find it ironic that Medved of Russia just pronounced that the Russian economy needs to focus on privatization instead of govt. control, while Obumbler is fully invested in taking control over the U.S. economy thru his regulation Czar Cass Sunstein--we're becoming like Russia while Russia is adopting free market ideas like we used to champion.
Mr. Shotwell, I like you!
Kudos to Rick Perry for standing tall.  Compromise with Liberals only goes one way-their way!
It comes down to principle. Either you believe in it or you don't.

EXCELLENT, YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD,  PERRY LOOKS GOOD TO ME, PALIN/PERRY, WHAT A DUO

Governor Perry has an opportunity to stand up against Federal oppression in his state with legislation stopping the TSA violation of our 4th amendment rights. Lets see how he does.
This occurs time and time again because we send people to washington who don't vote their conscience.  they don't have the courage of their convictions so they hide behind their Party in order to keep their position in Congress.  Sad
