We had the shot heard around the world and now we have the slap heard around the world.

What was the slap heard around the world?

It happened today in the Courtroom for the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

In the escalating battle between the administration and the judiciary, a federal appeals court apparently is calling the president's bluff -- ordering the Justice Department to answer by Thursday whether the Obama Administration believes that the courts have the right to strike down a federal law, according to a lawyer who was in the courtroom.

The order, by a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, appears to be in direct response to the president's comments yesterday about the Supreme Court's review of the health care law. Mr. Obama all but threw down the gauntlet with the justices, saying he was "confident" the Court would not "take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress."

Overturning a law of course would not be unprecedented -- since the Supreme Court since 1803 has asserted the power to strike down laws it interprets as unconstitutional. The three-judge appellate court appears to be asking the administration to admit that basic premise -- despite the president's remarks that implied the contrary. The panel ordered the Justice Department to submit a three-page, single-spaced letter by noon Thursday addressing whether the Executive Branch believes courts have such power, the lawyer said.

The panel is hearing a separate challenge to the health care law by physician-owned hospitals. The issue arose when a lawyer for the Justice Department began arguing before the judges. Appeals Court Judge Jerry Smith immediately interrupted, asking if DOJ agreed that the judiciary could strike down an unconstitutional law.

Wow!

This is not just a slap. This was a roundhouse kick to the head.

Obama is starting to believe he is really a dictator. His comment that the Supreme Court cannot over turn Obamacare and declare it unconstitutional has sent shock waves through the judiciary.

Rush Limbaugh today speculated that someone at the Court had given Obama the heads up that Obamacare was going to be declared unconstitutional and he went on the offensive.

Obama maybe a legend in his own mind but he is clueless how Judges work. One of the fastest ways to get on the bad side of a judge is to tell the Judge he or she cannot do something.

Obama’s reaction is the reaction of a thug.

He has no respect for this nation or the constitution.

It is time the voters show him the same kind of respect he is showing our nation’s laws.

Nixon got caught doing what he should not have. I think others were worse, but Obama is the first to not give a damn what we think. If Nixon or even the worthless Carter had a fraction of what he has the outcome would be called Treason and the penalty extremly harsh. This guy is total scum. How in the hell can anyone take up for him? If he had done this on his own hanging would be too good for him, but he has had millions of morons supporting him. We have been successfully blindsided in a way that may and I hope can never be duplicated in our future. Let us recover from America's worse mistake and nightmare. God save America from the fools.

Hanging would be too good for his supporters, as well. It doesn't matter how many supporters you have. If you violate the Supreme Law of the Land and end up costing Americans untold trillions of dollars as a result, which is equivalent to hundreds of thousands of human lives, you deserve the death penalty, and so does anyone who continues to support you.

I'm not that nice. IMHO ... The Scumbag and his pals promote partial birth abortion don't they? I can't think of a more fitting punishment for the lot of them. Traditional hanging would be too easy.

I guess the rack would accomplish the first part with pulling off the legs and arms...but then it would be so befitting their crimes for them to know the scissors were about to be thrust into their brain stem.

The massive fraud committed...the decimated innocent citizens and the murders committed, etc. deserve a real day in court and the ultimate possible punishment.

because I think more people who are on the fence might see how dictatorial he is and decide not to vote for him.

Romney is Obama light. His state has Romneycare. Obama likes him. Both Obama and Romney have many of the same doners. He got elected on his money. Gingrich /West would have been much better.

If Romney gets the nomination, we must let him know he will have one term if he pulls an Obama.
