While Ron Paul and his supporters continue their guerilla campaign, Mitt Romney has essentially won the Republican nomination. In the next few weeks, he will officially pass the number required for the nomination.
His former opponents, other than Ron Paul, have dropped out and all issued something that looks like an endorsement of Romney.
Is it time for conservatives to endorse Romney?
Let’s put it this way. On Election Day I am going to the voting booth. I will have a large and cold bottle of Pepto Bismol in one hand and barf bag in the other. I will leave after voting for Romney hoping I have not left the rancid dregs of what was once my breakfast on the voting machine.
Is that an endorsement?
I encourage everyone to vote for Romney, preferably on an empty stomach.
He is not Obama. No matter what he does, he will not be as bad as Obama.
Obama is an anti-American Marxist who is trying to bring down the country. Romney is not.
Obama wants to unilaterally disarm America. Romney does not.
Obama wants us to lose the war in Afghanistan. Romney does not.
Obama wants to see a whole series of anti-American, Islamist regimes in the Middle East. Romney does not.
Mitt Romney will not appoint Eric Holder to the Supreme Court.
Granted that is still not saying a lot but Romney is better than Obama.
Let’s make no mistake about what we are getting with Romney. He is a big government, liberal Republican. He is not going to change our trajectory. He might delay disaster but he is not going to cut taxes. He is not going to make any serious reductions in spending. He probably will not make any serious reductions in our debt.
The truth of the matter is, it does not matter.
Obama is an obstruction. If he is reelected, he will veto any bill that tries to reduce the power of the Presidency and any bill that tries to help get us out of this fiscal mess.
Romney is not a leader.
I have said this before. If we have a conservative House and Senate, we can pass bills that he will sign.
Our founding fathers intended the President to be a weak chief executive. If you look at the powers delegated to the President, there are not that many and they are the ones that a chief executive had to have.
Our founding fathers intended the legislative branch to be dominant, as it should be.
We have the opportunity; through the members of Congress and the Tea Party Senators we elect this year to change things. We have not lost this war by any stretch of the imagination.
But, we cannot win if Obama is still in the White House. He must go and the only way that will happen is for Mitt Romney to beat him this fall.
John Garner Nance famously once said the Vice Presidency was not worth a pitcher of warm spit.
This is the John Garner Nance endorsement of Mitt Romney. At least he is not Obama.
Explai to me Carol how we rescue ourselves by electing Romney.
Let me jump in here. We rescue ourselves by getting rid of Obama. This buys time. If Obama gets reelected, there is no time left.
I've forwarded emails and spoke to everyone who wanted to hear...some who even didn't...about the serious responsibility of voting per the Constitution, and of REALLY vetting the candidates we choose.
I've exposed the government's corruption to anyone who will listen, and directed them to sites, such as this, where they can get news not available in the 'mainstream'.
I've even noticed here, on this forum, that many are chasing after the latest 'tea party' candidate...blindly assuming that they will 'fix' these problems that we have in government...and in society. It's going to take ALL of the like-minded majority in our Nation to accomplish that goal and it's going to involve not only the ballot box, but improving the 'morality mindset' of generational dumbing-down. It will be a labor of love for our Nation.
Our local elementary school teaches that a liar is 'smarter' than an honest person, because it is harder to maintain a lie than the truth. I feel that is one reason we have our current president...who is NO George Washington.
What just happened with the most recent elections is a repeat of 2010...the majority (tea partiers, whether or not they know it) are cleaning up years of govt.corruption in a respectful, lawful way. Just as from the first tea party rallies, where the grounds were left cleaner than before the rally was held, removing the filth will be a layer at a time, until the sanitization is complete and the Nation still intact.
This is the way of those who honor the USA. To do otherwise would be to adopt the tactics of the OWS crowd, who want personal demands met and care not who will be destroyed in their wake. They really have no love for our Constitution, thinking that replacing it would be a better route, anyway.
I'm a steadfast supporter of Sarah Palin. It's not because I've had someone convince me...I came to this conclusion on my own. I'm impressed with her courage and history of confronting the corruption of any party. I also admire her use of a Constitutional standard in the employment of line-item vetos and the consistancy in her political and national views. But, she's not running.
I know many people who are extreme Romney supporters and they miss no opportunity to inform me of his merits, knowing that I obviously don't trust the guy. I believe he is a good family man and father..that much IS obvious to me. He has been vetted, and many do not like what they see, when it comes to policies and positions he has taken. We somewhat know what we are getting into, and hopefully, can keep him pointed in the right direction .
I will vote against Obama again (someone who CANNOT be pointed in the right direction), and if I must...to see the current group out of DC, I will encourage everyone I can to do the same, even if it means encouraging votes for Mitt Romney.
Ann, you're right about what it will really take. You're right about the time and effort, the means and the motivation. 'Of the people, by the people and for the people.'
Love this. But, I did not consider the barf bag and pepto, thanks.
I am backing my full boy NEWT! :D lol..Man I wish that I could right now. Yeah I'll vote for Mittens, but only because 1. I have too and 2. I feel that we can control him. And once we take over Congress we are golden. Paul will never stop because his people are loud mouthed pain in the butts and they have a mission as does he. It is insane now.
Judson, I am from Uvalde, Texas and my grandfather was a real close friend of John Nance Garner, and I as a young boy met him a few times. Having met him, I would almost bet the saying he seems to be most famous for was really, "The Vice Presidency was not worth a pitcher of warm p**s.", not spit.
I am for Sarah.....!
There is a big difference between acceptance and surrender. Conservatives did NOT surrender, they (we) fought as hard as they could and it's time to accept that we lost this round. But another round is coming in Nov., we can't afford to lose that one. We need you on board.
I'm sure you know the Serenity Prayer: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference.
We can't change the outcome of the primaries. But with courage we can band together to do what we have to do to save America.
Time to buy Pepto Bismol stock! As a friend of mine says, ABO. Romney is a corporatist but our only choice. We'll have to teach him and staff the Constitution and Bill of Rights but at least they'll listen.
