While Ron Paul and his supporters continue their guerilla campaign, Mitt Romney has essentially won the Republican nomination.  In the next few weeks, he will officially pass the number required for the nomination.

His former opponents, other than Ron Paul, have dropped out and all issued something that looks like an endorsement of Romney.

Is it time for conservatives to endorse Romney?

Let’s put it this way.  On Election Day I am going to the voting booth.  I will have a large and cold bottle of Pepto Bismol in one hand and barf bag in the other.  I will leave after voting for Romney hoping I have not left the rancid dregs of what was once my breakfast on the voting machine.

Is that an endorsement?

I encourage everyone to vote for Romney, preferably on an empty stomach.

Why?

He is not Obama.  No matter what he does, he will not be as bad as Obama.

Obama is an anti-American Marxist who is trying to bring down the country.  Romney is not.

Obama wants to unilaterally disarm America.  Romney does not

Obama wants us to lose the war in Afghanistan.  Romney does not.

Obama wants to see a whole series of anti-American, Islamist regimes in the Middle East.  Romney does not.

Mitt Romney will not appoint Eric Holder to the Supreme Court.

Granted that is still not saying a lot but Romney is better than Obama.

Let’s make no mistake about what we are getting with Romney.  He is a big government, liberal Republican.  He is not going to change our trajectory.  He might delay disaster but he is not going to cut taxes.  He is not going to make any serious reductions in spending.  He probably will not make any serious reductions in our debt.

The truth of the matter is, it does not matter.

Obama is an obstruction.  If he is reelected, he will veto any bill that tries to reduce the power of the Presidency and any bill that tries to help get us out of this fiscal mess.

Romney is not a leader.

I have said this before.  If we have a conservative House and Senate, we can pass bills that he will sign.

Our founding fathers intended the President to be a weak chief executive.  If you look at the powers delegated to the President, there are not that many and they are the ones that a chief executive had to have.

Our founding fathers intended the legislative branch to be dominant, as it should be.

We have the opportunity; through the members of Congress and the Tea Party Senators we elect this year to change things.  We have not lost this war by any stretch of the imagination.

But, we cannot win if Obama is still in the White House.   He must go and the only way that will happen is for Mitt Romney to beat him this fall.

John Garner Nance famously once said the Vice Presidency was not worth a pitcher of warm spit.

This is the John Garner Nance endorsement of Mitt Romney.  At least he is not Obama.

If I endorse a candidate then I actively work on that person's campaign whenever and however I can.  Won't be doing that this election (same as the last election), BUT I will be voting for Romney.  Think I'll take you up on your suggestion though and vote in the morning on an empty stomach!

It seems you are happy ? I am not!!!! He is still the same Socialist, NWO, Progressive man that he always was. What did the Tea Party do about erasing him.. Nothing!

How would you have suggested we do that?  Many of us put in a lot of time and effort to get out the vote for our candidates.  We voted in our primaries. At this point all the other candidates have dropped out of the race with the exception of Ron Paul, and he's not a viable alternative.  What's left?  Like it or not (and I do not) Romney is the nominee.

I agree. I would have MUCH preferred that the best man for the job, Newt Gingrich, be racking up the delegates on the road to defeating Obama in November. Sadly, that's not gonna happen. For all Mitt Romney's issues - and I have several with him - he CAN defeat Obama, IF he has a unified party behind him. You don't have to dance every dance with him, but you gotta make sure he gets to the party; otherwise, the reactionary, hippy, progressive crew will send the same freakshow that they did four years ago to take over again.

And I don't wanna listen to any more of THEIR music.

So, let's put the Pepto away, leave the barf bags in the car, and do everything we can to prevent this national nightmare from continuing.

Well put, Juls! It does no good to rail about what's gone. All we can do is assess what's left and build on that.

I love what Judson said about the presidency being a weak position anyway. Our power is in the legislature. Maybe there's a lesson there and maybe that's why a Power greater than ourselves allowed things to turn out the way they did.

Sally you are so right, on election day I will go into the voting booth and vote for the most conservative candidate in every race.  For President I will write in a name, I haven't decided who yet or I will not vote if there is not a write in option.

Judson you gave us a fine list of what Romney won't do that Obama does, or has done.  We all know that where it counts Romney will do exactly what Obama has done, is doing.  Even if Obama uses the veto, a Conservative House and Senate will veto Obama's efforts as well.  I prefer a Conservative Congress vs Obama stand off to a Romney stagnate.  The Conservative Communist contrast will be more obvious and hopefully lead to better Conservative choices in the future.

I do not fault the Tea Party for their efforts to support and win votes for Conservatives.  We are in this position with Romney as the candidate because we have not WAGED WAR!  The Left is waging war against Gov Walker in Wisconsin and it is uncertain whether the Tea Party will win Walker enough votes to prevail.

It is time to SH__ or get off the pot, WAGE WAR or disband.  Let's start by telling Romney clearly that the old game is over.  He can't get enough votes from Independents and defectors to win.  He needs the Tea Party votes.  Tell Romney clearly that we will not support him, endorse him or vote for him unless his Campaign and Platform includes Tea Party positions on reducing government, lowering taxes, decreased spending, and an immediate balanced budget.  Tell Romney clearly that we will urge voters not to vote for either him or Obama.  Tell Romney clearly that the price for our votes is for him to endorse and adhere to Constitutional Conservative Positions.

Then we must start waging war against Progressive Socialist Communism in every arena, not just try to win votes for election day.  We need to wage war to destroy the enemy in Wisconsin and elsewhere!

MUG, Mr. Obama called. He said to thank you for your support!

Yes MUG, as do all of Obama's Czars, Cabinet and Advisors, as well as Michele's Staff.

I hope you told him the truth.  I don't support him and would like to see him convicted of High Treason and face the full penalty.

I will not again in this election choose the lesser of the same evil!  I will work to destroy that evil.

I applaud your motives, Mug, but your method makes no sense in this, the most critical election of our lives. A vote for ANYONE other than the Republican nominee, as "principled" as that vote may be, is a vote for Odumbo. As Carol said, he will thank you for your support.

I must modify my usual slogan:

Anybody (who is on the ballot) But Odumbo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So who do you prefer Doug?

Hitler or Hirohito?

Stalin or Mussolini?

Mao or Ho Chi

How about we destroy them all and Liberal Socialist Communism as well.  You can pick the lesser evil if you want, I choose not to.

PLEASE, Mug!!!!  Think about what you're doing.  Do you really want another 4 years of Odumbo?  How about you make your point by voting AGAINST current dictator-wannabe, and for the one who can beat him.  Don't just throw it away.  This is just TOO important.  PLEASE don't help him get back in.  With Romney and a conservative legislature, we can at least slow things down and then in the next 4 years work non-stop to line up good candidates for 2016.  If Odumbo gets back in, there might not BE an election in 2016!
