The Persecution of Sarah Palin -  Are Palin's Poll Numbers Really That Bad?

It started with Joe Scarborough inferring that high profile GOPers were bad-mouthing Palin behind the scenes.

Then NJ Governor Chris Christie said she needed to come out from behind Twitter, Facebook and Fox News and answer uns...

Over the past few days, a slew of "conservative" talking heads, the media and certain polls have come out of the woodwork to tell us to stick a fork in Palin, she's done. One article was actually entitled, "The Incredible Shrinking Palin".

The poll that seemed to start this hate-filled "pile-on" this week was a Washington Post/ABC news poll of GOPers and GOP-leaning independent...

Veteran  GOPers like Krautheimer and George Will came out with comments on Palin's populism. "When populism becomes purely anti-intellectual, it can become unhealthy and destructive."

Former Bush aide Ari Fleischer stated that he can't "see any way, shape or form that [Palin] can win in the Republican ...

There were stories regarding her relationship with Fox News head Roger Ailes, saying she asked for his advice on the Giffords shooting, then ignored his advice and now there is a strained relationship between the two. There is speculation that Ailes will fire her.  To my knowledge, I never saw a rebuttal of this story from Ailes or Fox News.

There was a link in one of the stories by a blogger who attended both of Palin's book signings, the first for "Going Rogue" and the second for "America By Heart". The photos showed a large crowd for the first signing and a small ...Other stories stated that the only reason Palin's second book made it to the NY Times best-seller list was because her PAC bought a large quantity of books to resell signed copies for $100 a piece and other outlets such as Newsmax and Townhall bought large quanitities to give away with paid subscriptions to their magazines.

All of this has me wondering, is this an organized "take down" of Palin, or is her popularity truly declining?  If her popularity is on the wane and her unfavorables are that high, can she turn it around and what would she need to do to change voters' minds?

Oh! how right you are.  Yea! for Sarah Palin!!!

...how did she get your email address??

You could always cut and paste...

...copy it, then paste it in as a "reply"... a bunch of us are curious!

Do you know how to get in touch of whoever is in charge of TPN's website?? This could be a security breach...

Like I said, the nasty reactions to anyone who doesn't have Sarah on a pedestal are pathetic. Are you so sure I'm the troll? Because if I was, I would be in here saying things like that.
Respecting or admiring Sarah Palin isn't the same thing as putting her on a pedestal.  I worship no man or woman.  We are all imperfect.
Weird, I can't get the "reply" buttons to work properly... I'll just have to name my responses here.

Eugene, thanks for a summary lesson in morals and ethics that had absolutely nothing to do with anything I said. Even though you didn't ask and clearly have no interest in me as a person, I'm a strong Christian, and in my own personal life I am very much a social conservative. I just have no interest in forcing my personal choices on anyone else. True separation of church and state is very important to me. I think the two equally important "bastardy"s, as you so nicely put it, are both the strategic removal of God from the public square and the all out assault on any respect for property rights in this country.

Lawrence, thank YOU for proving my point. I don't have Sarah on a pedestal, so therefore I must be a liberal, and because I'm a woman, I must just be jealous of her. Oh, but I also must think that she should be "a dainty little person without brain", and despite my voicing support for Michelle Bachmann, I'm denying another woman from pursuing goals. Your insults aren't even consistent, and you replied to my comments to say exactly what I was complaining about being said? That flags trolls in my experience on the internet. Would you care to respond to any of the actual legitimate issues I raised, or does the fact that I'm an intelligent woman just scream "liberal!" to you? THAT'S insulting. Oh, but you did say "God bless", to Tom anyway, so I guess that excuses your rude behavior.

Oh, and in answer to your question, though I don't know what impact it could possibly have on a sane discussion, yes, I do criticize Obama for "writing" his book. I think the trend of everybody who's anybody publishing their "memoirs" the second they have opportunity is entirely ridiculous.

Ron, thank you at least for not being rude like Lawrence. I respect that, and I assume from your signature you are or were a Marine? Thank you for your service. With all due respect, a lot of Americans, you and me included, know and reverence the Messiah. As well as I can tell, Sarah certainly does. Although it helps, that alone is far from qualification for holding the highest office in the land, and trust is something that can only be built and earned with time. I'm not a person who trusts anyone easily, and like I said in a previous post, her midterm endorsements sent up a lot of red flags as far as I'm concerned. I trust no politician any more than I have to, and Sarah is a politician.

Karen, I still say, no one forced her into the limelight. It's a lot like the celebrities who are always being hounded by the paparazzi. Yeah, there's some degree of that sort of thing that comes with the job, but the ones who are getting followed every single day? They aren't just innocent parties to harassment, and everybody knows it, because there are a lot of BIG stars who manage to lead quiet, private lives with relative ease. Justify her actions all you want. If someone wants to be in politics they have to seek out attention and that's fine, but please don't try to sell "she didn't seek it out!" to me. I'm not buying. Of COURSE she used the nomination. How else do you think she got where she is on the national stage? Can you name any other governor of Alaska, ever?

Also, I'm pretty sure (and by "pretty sure" I mean "looking at the very words I typed on the screen in front of my face") I never said anything about trusting her with everything in you. It seems I'm going to have a hard enough time in here without presumptuous people like you putting words in my mouth, thank you very much.

Sandra, wow. You don't even seem to have the guts to confront me head on. I don't know much about public life, don't have a philosophy of life, and am just ignorant? Thanks. I'm flattered. Talk about jealous women throwing other women under the bus.

Again, sorry for the multiple and unconnected response, but the buttons don't want to work for me right now.

Elizabeth, I appreciate your reply and I respect your decision to trust no one.  If it's your opinion that Sarah Palin loves the limelight for selfish reasons, so be it.  I won't waste any further time trying to convince you otherwise.  I hope you can find a candidate who meets your standards, whatever they may be.  Good luck with that.

...it was never the intention of the Founders to separate Church and State... the intention was that the State wouldn't endorse on religion over another.
Karen, seriously? When did I ever say that she "loves the limelight for selfish reasons"? I didn't say she loves it. I didn't say she's selfish. I just said she's obviously using the opportunities that have been given her and to imply that the spotlight she has right now was foisted on her against her will is patently ridiculous.

I don't know why I'm even still trying to engage in a conversation with you though. It's clear that you're not interested in listening.

Funny...as I read your reply I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing!

Done!

"We can't have another 4 years of Obama!"

We won't... bank on it! Ooops, ah, I meant, put your money where... ah, no, hide your money...no, no, what's that song Jiminy Cricket sings... ah, shucks, i lost my train of... never mind... it was funny, tho!!

Sarah will win if she runs. ANY conservative we choose to run, will win... IF   ...we show up in large numbers to vote. We outnumber the liberals 2:1, we lose only if we don't play... or it's a close race, and the Dems come up with a way to steal it.

Besides the betrayal by the media [they didn't do what the media is supposed to do], we lost in 2008 because of the "white guilt" vote, and the "we're making history" vote, and, even more importantly, 8% of the conservatives who voted in 2004, didn't vote in 2008... we win in 2010, BIG, if we ALL remain focused and show up and pull the lever in the ballot box. We Win.

The only question I have, did we wake up too late?
