The media and who speaks for the Tea Party movement



This morning, Tea Party Nation released a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and to Speaker to be John Boehner.  Our letter was in response to a letter that originated from the group GOProud, where they tried to speak for this movement.  GOProud is not a part of the  Tea Party movement.  It is not now, nor has it ever been. 


The media reaction to this has been interesting.   On CNN, Paul Steinhauser wrote about it.  GOProud felt the need to respond immediately.   Paul is a good writer, who has always treated us fairly.  The story from CNN, is here.  


GOProud whines that we had so many on there that we were just getting members on to make our numbers look good.  They also claim they could have had five times the number we had.  


I don't think so.


They could have had that many signators to the letter, but they would not have been Tea Party activists.  


There is a battle going on now, for the heart and soul of this movement.  We, who represent the mainstream of this movement must speak up and not let this movement be hijacked by those who want to use it for their own purposes and not the purpose of restoring freedom and liberty to this country!

bully for you Mr. Judson. i did not realize you were a founder. you do seem to be a good leader. keep up the good work for the good cause. i am also a member of the arizona tea party as well as this one . i live in arizona.

The same sort of people represented by George HW Bush who wrestled control of the GOP away from the Reaganauts are now trying to co-opt the Tea Party.

I vote Constitution Party so the excuse that GW Bush did it doesn't make on damn bit of difference to me either.

Ivan, I'm kinda curious what you are saying to John. Would you please explain? You almost sound like some extreme Libertarian who believes Glenn Beck is a socialist. Here's an article about such a group written by Lisa Richards at Newsreal Blog.

Ivan and Dawn, votiing for Perot got us Clinton. The Constitution Party has elected only ONE legislative candidate, a good friend Rick Jore, in Montana. Otherwise, it's been irrelevant. In fact, Rev. Baldwin's been acting kinda jealous over the Tea Party success, perhaps because he's not the center of the attention?

REPLY BY We The People Freedom NOW...The only way to change the course of our out of control government and bring stability to our Republic is to demand our three branches of government ...executive [president-Federal Agencies-Governors-Mayors]... legislative [ State & US Senators & House members]...judicial [ local, state & Federal judges] adhere to The Constitution, that is...govern...legislate...judge from The Constitution and stay within their limited powers...aforementioned have sworn to honor, defend, obey. If they do not...Legal Citizens have the power to 1] challange any branch of government and/or Representaive [president, governor, federal agency, mayors, senators, house members] demand investigations and/or impeachment and 2] fire the bums every 2 years via elections to make government RIGHT. Our Founding Fathers had the vision, gave Citizenry power over government via The Constitution. As Thomas Jefferson proclaimed...LIBERTY is when government FEARS it's CITIZENRY...THE POWER OF THE VOTE!

Not only a battle for the heart and soul of the Tea Party movement , also a battle for the heart and soul of America.

Doubting God does not make anyone an atheist. Openly silencing Christians and intentionally tearing down the Judeo-Christian foundation of America is the fruit of the atheists' labor. Before the atheists started dismantling Ameirca, they would acknowledge that our values and principles were actually beneficial to all. But their guilt and shame now motivates them to remove any shred of evidence, convert all to their lifestyle, until the race of Christian Americans are annihiltated.

FIGHT BACK! Stand up for your Freedom of Religion. All other freedoms hinge upon what the Founding Fathers intended for this Republic.

It seems to me nobody gets the Tea Party yet. It will take a few more elections. We are not an arm of the GOP they are a means to an end and if they don't change they will be unseated. Dems don't get it but will. the media is trying not to understand and is trying to tear us apart. The social issues are not the question here it is the Constitution and fiscal responsibility. I don't care if you are gay or not I just don't want it preached to my children that it is a valid so called 'lifestyle choice". Consenting adults are free to do what they please as long as it is legal and as long as it doesn't interefere with anyone else. Stop with the damn parades, already! If we stick to the Constitutional foundations the rest is gravy.

Well said Dawn! As Judson and I have both stated, The GOP is the 'framework' or skeleton. The Patriots of the Tea Party movement are the muscle and tendons. The Constitution is paramount, and our goal must be to "Fundamentally Restore our Constitutional Republic"! Though, I don't believe it will be 'gravy', but a whole 'heck' of a lot of work!

My most favorite political advice is this: "Behold, I send you out as sheep among wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents, and innocent as doves."

Like sheep, we need to unite around solid, honorable leaders, to avoid being devoured by our enemies. We mus then be the smartest creature in the war and 'righteously outsmart our opponents!

It seems to me that one of the impressive successes of the Tea Party movement is the increased attention to the actions of elected and appointed officials and the willingness to actively communicate with them when they stray the course from Constitutional orthodoxy.

In simpler terms, the Tea Party members will let you know when you're screwing up! Hopefully, they'll also let them know when they get it right.

It is the media who seek to identify leadership for the movement. You can't put a movement on camera. That search plays into the hands of those who would attempt to diminish the influence of the Tea Party by faulting the potentially flawed behavior of a single leader or leadership coalition.

What we have is a new paradigm for political action. The movement abandoned the old methods of lobbying and floods the appropriate offices with individual notices. This works at all levels of government from federal to municipal, and can also be effective influencing either of the major political parties.

No one speaks for us. We are awake. We speak for ourselves.

America needs to be active fighting the ones against THE REAL AMERICAN, and real Americans. NO matter who there. The federal government is the wrong group to be helping REAL AMERICAN. so we need someone or something to change what is going on. NOW HOW??? I do not have the answer. Who does??? A lot of the TEA PARTY movement shows some , so work with it.
NOW HOW DO WE KEEP IT GOING THE WAY WE heard and saw?? Some one has to be watching the door!!!
Who can it be and can they be trusted?? WE are right back with this problem TRUST and COMMON SENSE!!!
WHO and WHERE is it??? To start ; Change all things passed back till the year 1950 All people in office in DC are fired, and the pay and housing will be paid by their home state. NO MORE FEDERAL FUNDS. No more helpers helps federal moneys. Offices are one kind and no remodeling. No free lunches. Pay as you get and do. One term in office and get out. If you want more skip one than come back. Be a CHRISTIAN
THESE are just a start of different ideas and should be looked at.
