The left is long since used to going to judges to get what the people do not want to give the government and the legislatures, who do answer to the people, do not want to give either.
So what is the solution? Buy justice. That is exactly what a George Soros backed group is doing.

Billionaire George Soros spends tens of millions each year supporting a range of liberal social and political causes, from drug legalization to immigration reform to gay marriage to abolishing the death penalty.
But a less well-known Soros priority -- replacing elections for judges with selection-by-committee -- now has critics accusing him of trying to stack the courts.
Most non-federal judges around the country are selected by voters in elections. But some states use a process called “merit selection” in which a committee – often made up of lawyers – appoints judges to the bench instead.
Moving to a system of unelected judges is the greatest threat to freedom there is. Liberal groups will often run to unelected Federal Judges who do not fear the wrath of the voters to advance all types of liberal issues. These issues range from abortion, to cutting funding for Planned Parenthood to cutting welfare benefits. From illegal immigration to gay marriage to the death penalty. Unelected Judges have even ordered tax increases on the people when they have decided to advance a liberal program.
Every state must go back to direct, popular election of Judges. If we do not, we will have nothing bot a black robe tyranny.

I don't know if it is still out there, but a video existed where Soros was interviewed a few years ago. He described his time working as a informant/spy for the Nazis (on "The Jewish Council") against Jews near the end of WWII .
He showed no remorse, no guilt, no shame. His eyes looked dead as he spoke, but, in his voice, he seemed pleased with himself and what he had done.
In case you are not aware, Soros' real famliy name was Schwartz... a Hungarian Jewish family. He was born on 12 August 1930 His father saw the trends leading up to Hitler's rise to power and changed the family name in 1932.
Right after WWII, Soros wheeled-n-dealed in jewels and precious metal baubles. Huge amounts of such wealth was floating loose around Europe after the fall of the Nazis (who stole treasures from the families and nations they robbed and slaughtered).
After college, in 1956, he moved into trading in stocks, bonds. Eventually, he got deeply into international currency trading, and playing power games that left big banks empty. Soros has dealt in Hedge Funds since at least 1969.
In the 1992 Black Wednesday UK currency crises, he nearly destroyed the Bank of England. Through Currency trading schemes in the late 1990s, he caused a collapse of the Malaysian and Thai economies while the rest of the world was dependent on Malaysia/Thailand for millions of computer hard drives. Thus, he played an important role in driving down prices of computer equipment while the Web was in a very rapid growth phase and before the Red Chinese part of the industry began to grow so quickly.
In the last 10 or 15 years or so, Soros has claimed to be an atheist.
His Net worth is estimated at between $14 and 16Billion USD.
His political and social engineering activities go through "The Open Society Institute" with programs in more than 60 countries to spend approximately $600 million a year.
I recall he was financing NORMAL (Nat'l Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) at least as far back as 1993. His money is behind the drive to legalize pot.
A few months ago, Soros got his daughter to play host to Bill and Hillary Clinton when Chelsea got married to that young fellow who works for Goldman-Sachs.
