Everyday, America spins closer to the abyss. Everyday our so-called leaders take steps that are not only not helpful, but can only be described as destructive to America.
You would think America would be up in arms. It seems more like Americans do not care.
Why is this?
Sometimes those of us in this movement feel like the Paul Revere of old. We are running down the streets and through the lanes shouting, “The catastrophe is coming.”
Most people yawn and go about their business.
Politicians do not care.
They are acting like the Tea Party never happened. Democrats want to believe the Tea Party never happened or if it did, it was a fluke and it is dead. The Republicans, holding to their cherished goal of committing political suicide at the earliest opportunity are ignoring the Tea Party as well.
They were voted out in 2006 and 2008 because they acted like Democrats and back in 2010 because they promised they would not act like Democrats. 2012 is not looking good for them.
But that still does not ask the question, why aren’t Americans up in arms and outraged as we go into this election?
This election should be a boon for TV and Internet. Political TV shows and political sites should be setting records. None of that is happening.
In fact, other than around the political debates, the ratings for political TV show and most political websites, including Tea Party sites is down.
The house is on fire and people just want to watch Dancing With The Stars.
Part of the reason could be the success of our movement. Many people came out to the rallies and many have now faded away, thinking the big national groups are handling it.
Part of the reason may be we have said it is the end of the world if Obama gets his way on certain issues and the economy has not gone the way of Greece yet, so some people have started tuning out our message.
Part of it may be our side is simply depressed. The guys who are leading the Republican Party right now (Mitch McConnell and John Boehner) are surrender monkeys. They have no fight in them. They have no desire to try to advance any type of a conservative agenda or for that matter try to stop Obama.
Occasionally they will come out to talk about being conservative, such as at CPAC, which is little more than a bizarre kabuki theater “pay no attention to the man behind the curtain” moment. Then they go back to being the problem.
Part of it may be conservatives do not like our choices for President. Conservatives have been abused by the establishment Republicans trying to shove Romney down our throats. Most of us realize Ron Paul has no chance other than to perhaps split the conservative vote enough for Romney to get in. Newt Gingrich may be the best candidate out there and the last Tea Party candidate but he is having a hard time generating passion about his campaign. Rick Santorum is a big government social conservative, who is in no way a fiscal conservative and who criticized the Tea Party, but now claims he is a part of the Tea Party.
Meanwhile, the Republicans in Congress act just like the Democrats, passing budget busting bills and our country is rapidly falling towards an economic disaster.
Why aren’t people engaged and involved as the country slides towards economic disaster? Who knows? The only thing that is certain is if we are going to avoid ending up like Greece, we better get our side in the game now.

Permalink Reply by 74jeepman on Word has to get out through the media. The problem as we all know is that the mainstream media will not talk about the important issues that this country faces. I was shocked the other day when ABC did a piece on Obamas idiot budget proposal. They compared it to a household budget so every one could understand the debt issue. Fox even spends so much time trying to be balanced that their message for conservatism is hard to understand many times. I guess we need a reality show that demonstrates where America is headed.

Funny you came out with this blog today - everything you bring up is the reason I write daily trying to engage people to do their homework and become involved, but after a comment from one our tea party members I started to see the light. I have always tried to state hard facts and bring proof to the table, but when I'm told to stay away from the conspiracy theories I realize that people are not only disengaged they relegate information to the ancient history shelf instead of trying to figure out how to solve the problems (it's pretty much another Obama year at this point and time.)
Perfect example of this is: the one person we need at this time to do some major house cleaning in Washington is the one polling the lowest many times, the low Response from the Republicans during the caucuses show people are yawning and going about their business. Anyway, I feel privileged to spend several years with the TPN, but I believe it's time for me to part company for a while. I totally admire you and the information you bring to the table and will continue following you, Alan, Marcus etc.
Permalink Reply by Grace Kirby on Marcia, if criticism and name-calling is what it takes for us to fold, then we are all lost. The Democrats are counting on this type of tactic working. In case you haven't noticed, their criticism and name-calling is the only defense they have and count on it to stick to enough minds in order for them to win. Just consider all the names that have been applied to the Tea Party by the left. But we keep on fighting for the truth to come out. I have been attacked (figuratively) by family/friends for my ideas and beliefs. That hasn't stopped me. And I won't give up. The country I leave my children and grandchildren is too important to me for a surrender. As Newt has said, he is willing to pledge his "life, treasure and honor" for this fight. Are we ready to follow? I hope you will remain an important contributor to this forum. Every idea is worthy of consideration, whether accepted or rejected. It is up to the individual to make that choice.

I just commented to my spouse the other day that watching netowrk news is a bunch of soft stuff like stories about various Hollywood types, cooking, travel, etc and then the Left's propaganda stories about OWS, protests by Left Wing radicals or, anti Tea Party and Republican messages.. The other significant topics are about murders. My theory why that gets attention is because it supports the Left's agenda calling for gun control. In short, if it isn't the Left's indoctrination materials, soft news or propaganda, it never makes the news.
