Donald Trump’s unofficial campaign for President has gone to warp speed.  He is now the top candidate in many of the polls.  In the blink of an eye, he has passed Romney, Gingrich, Bachmann and even Palin.

The eyes of the country and the media are upon the Donald.  He is certainly saying a lot of things people want to hear.  He has been absolutely relentless on the birth certificate issue.   He has said political correctness is killing the country.  He has not been shy about going after Muslims or the Chinese.   He wants to repeal Obama care, does not approve of gay marriage and is pro-life. He says he is blunt and he is right about that.  He is blunt.  But is he right?

Donald Trump is an American icon, bigger than life.  Trump can sell ice to Eskimos.  The question a lot of us need to start asking is, what is he selling America?

If Donald Trump really believes what he is saying and would really govern that way, he could go down as a great President.  But there are some disturbing questions about Trump.

Trump’s right hand man and political director is a guy named Michael Cohen.   Cohen is a former trial lawyer who has an impressive political background.  An impressive political background in Democratic politics.

Cohen has been involved in a number of political campaigns and worked for some other politicians.  All liberal Democrats.  Cohen voted for Obama in 2008 and enthusiastically supported him in the first few months of his administration.  Those were the same few months that the Tea Party sprang to life.

Cohen and Trump have a mutual passion.  Making money.  This is something they have both talked about and Cohen has invested in a number of Trump projects.  There is nothing wrong with making money; in fact, making money from the free market is one of the greatest things about America.

Cohen once worked for Joe Moakley, a liberal Democratic Congressman from Massachusetts.   He also volunteered for the campaign of Michael Dukakis in 1988.

Cohen in interviews acknowledges his past support of Obama but now says his big concerns are the unsustainable debt, the economic down turn that has cost jobs and America not being respected in the world.

Those all sound like Tea Party positions.

Twelve years ago, Donald Trump, as we pointed out in an earlier blog, was almost 180 degrees opposite of where he sits today.  In 1999, while thinking about running for the Reform Party nomination, he said he was pro-abortion and favored a single payer health system.  He used the words, “I am very liberal” when talking about health care.

Do people change their beliefs over time?  Sure they do.

Do people who want to be elected to high office tell us what they think we want to hear?  Absolutely.

What about Donald Trump?  In 2007, when congratulating Nancy Pelosi on her election to the Speaker’s chair penned, “you’re the best.”  Trump contributed $50,000 to Rahm Emanuel’s campaign for Mayor.

Given Trump’s previous liberal beliefs and given that one of his top operatives helping him has a history of supporting nothing but liberals and absent a “Damascus Road conversion,” we have to wonder if Trump is only telling us what we want to hear.

The 2012 election for president is too important for us to take a chance on just what we want to hear.

I an with Billy, Martha and Kenneth, this guy is bad news.
I agree with Pastor Bickel

Wow!  Is this a stunned silence?

Bachmann is still my first choice, and there are a few interesting possible candidates.

I love what Trump is doing for the conversation in the US; and I won't rule out voting for him.  But this information is something to watch and consider deeply if he actually is a contender.

Don't separate anyone from their past. Yes people can change, but not over night and not completely. Trump is a money maker and maybe he sees his money getting taken by the gov. That would make more sense, than all of a sudden he has converted.
If Trump  indeed is exposing Obama as the fraud he is, is instrumental in the removal of Obama from office, and maybe even in the criminal persecution of Obama, then as far as I am concerned, all is forgiven, and I will be willingly voting for him to be president in the upcoming 2012 election.
I am not on the Trump for President ban wagon.  Being Cohen is or was a democratic and Trump contributed to many campaigns for the dems.  Half of me thinks he is lying and another set up to keep the socialist ban wagon going.  He sounds good but he does not come off strong on many levels.  He was all for Obama at first and now nothing.  He just does not come off as beleiveable to me.  I would like to think money can't buy votes but what happened 2 years in this country won't let me beleive much anymore.
May be we better not take Trump at face value! INVESTIGATE INVESTIGATE INVESTIGATE! My have we learned a value lesson in knowing who we endorse and vote into public offices for the sake of posterity!
It would be nice if he proves the Obama birth fraud soon though. Do you mean it is important who your friends, minister, associates are and your history too?  Who knew?  Certainly not the 52% that voted for Obama.  Maybe they did.
A two thirds vote from both houses can overturn an executive order.
Trump called Bush the worst president in US history, now he's calling Obama the worst president in US history.  Trump is NOT serious.  I don't believe that the American people will ever take him seriously, either.  He's doing this for the fun of it.  He likes to be famous, he likes to be in the news.  He is a celebrity, not a politician.  He will not run, and this is why: he will never submit to a complete financial disclosure!  It would be embarrassing for people to know the complete truth about his finances.
The whole Rep. Party and Tea Party need someone like a gadfly trump, a non-stopping, head-thrusting, ubiquitious pest to Obama's plague on this country; thank-God Palin is waking up from her Lenten sleep. It's about time because they are leaders, not g-d followers, and it matters not to me if they run for the top spot, as long as they cut Obama down with 'their factual knives,' taking pieces of shark flesh everytime they open their mouths. Aren't you tired of looking at Boehner, who appears like a deer in the headlights whenever he stands at a microphone?  Aren't you sick of retreat and getting kicked in the Ass with your own left foot candidates, the worn-out treads of Huckabee, Gingrich, Pawlenty...their bag of old potatoes you're afraid to stick your hand in bec. you don't know which spuds haven't thorns on them? These are hollow potatoes and hollow men! Palin and Trump will AWAKEN someone not on the radar, I hope, and if not...then let the 2 fight each other in the primaries coming because at least I know I'll see a fight from 2 brand new gladiators in the ring of the true Constitution. At least I know WHILE IN THE RING, like Spartacus, they'll throw their spears at the heart of Emperor Phoony Obama.
Judson;
Trump is going for the 'populist vote'. Why you may ask? He doesn't stand a chance on being nominated as the Republican candidate, which means he's going to throw millions into his campaign running as a 'independent'. He will probably persude an number of people in which when he does, he will 'split the conservative vote'. When that happens Obama is back in office. No no no...This can not and must not happen.

He sounds strong by hitting all the taliking-points like a good salesman, but now is the time we all have to stand behind 'one conservative republican' to get this socialist muslim out of office. Remember, the Clintons were only 'in it for the money too', and look were we are today. We do not have the economic or cultural time to vote for another RINO or Liberal.
Best;
John Wayne
