Occasionally a miracle occurs.  A friend of yours wins the lottery.  The Chicago Cubs will win the World Series sometime in the next 100 years.

A miracle may be happening in the Republican Party.  The light may be finally coming on.  Could the GOP finally realize there is a problem?

John Boehner of all people actually came out and said it.

From Roll Call:

But at a June 30 fundraiser in Wheeling, W.Va., Speaker John Boehner offered a surprisingly frank assessment of the dynamic that surprised some in the audience.

Aside from Romney’s “friends, relatives and fellow Mormons,” Boehner said, most people will be motivated to vote for him in opposition to Obama.

The Ohio Republican made the remarks when an unidentified woman asked during a question-and-answer session: “Can you make me love Mitt Romney?”

“No,” Boehner said. “Listen, we’re just politicians. I wasn’t elected to play God. The American people probably aren’t going to fall in love with Mitt Romney. I’ll tell you this: 95 percent of the people that show up to vote in November are going to show up in that voting booth, and they are going to vote for or against Barack Obama.

Holy Cow!

Boehner is actually showing some intelligence.

The problem here is that he is right.  The Republican Party is poised to nominate someone who fits right into the tradition of bad Republican Presidential candidates.

Honestly who the hell likes Mitt Romney?

Is anyone other than his immediate family passionate about his candidacy?  When Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich endorsed Romney, they both said the same thing.  He isn’t Barack Obama.

Their endorsements were not that he would make a fantastic President.  Their endorsements were not that he would change America for the better.  It’s just he isn’t Barack Obama.

Earth to the Republican Party!  Buy a clue while you still can.

You will never win an election by simply telling people to vote against the other guy.

If you are going to win you have to offer something and one of the things that has to be offered is passion.

Mitt Romney offers no passion or excitement.  His best future might be as the keynote speaker for Insomniacs of America.   Republicans were passionate about Michele Bachmann.  They were passionate about Rick Perry.  They were passionate about Herman Cain and are still passionate about his “9-9-9” plan.  They were passionate about Newt Gingrich.  Even Ron Paul had passionate followers.

Mitt Romney just puts everyone to sleep.

The only thing the Republican establishment seems to be able to say about Mitt Romney is that he is not Barack Obama and he is not a conservative Tea Party candidate.

If the Republican Party is to create a functioning majority, like Ronald Reagan did, it has to not only stand for something but it must have ideas and candidates that create passion.

When the highest-ranking elected Republican says voters are not going to fall in love with the presumptive nominee, then that should be a red alert message to the Republican Party that they need to do something and do something quickly.

For this election, failure is not an option.  Barack Obama must be defeated.  But as even John Boehner noted, Mitt Romney is not going to create the kind of passion that makes people go out and vote for him.

The Republican Party needs to act quickly before Mitt Romney joins that long list of Republican failures that includes Bob Dole and John McCain.

Mine also Jeff... I will vote for whomever I have to, to get rid of Obama, but there is tons of work ahead even if we succeed.

Do you date with the same plan or work for a company because thats all we got? That is how we got here!

This is true. We need to pool our resources now to rid ourselves of the Marxist-Narcissist-Ingrate-In-Chief, President "Pinocchio". We will live to fight another day if we elect Romney, but if O-Blame-O gets to remain in office...well, then...the other thing - "night-night America". If Mitt Romney 'blinks' or doesn't live up to his promises, then the door is wide open to double or triple the Tea Party efforts to becoming the biggest new political party of America who will kick all their arses out of Washington in 2016!! No other options, IMHO, at this point in reference to our fading sovereignty.

I don't have to like a person to make him President.  The essential point is that he will get the country back on the free enterprise track and stop the horrendous spending.  If you are turned on by passion and excitement go to a movie.  We need competence and effective leadership, all characteristics that Mitt has shown in the past.  Past actions speak louder than words. So, let's stop bellyaching that we don't love the guy. Let's just get him elected and if he is effective, we'll have an easier time electing a more Conservative the next time.  By increments we won't scare away the Independents and more conservative Democrats who may switch.  Remember, the GOAL....GET OBAMA FIRED!

Good one.  Let's keep our eye on the ball -- and get rid of Obama!  Mitt Romney isn't "Mr. Cool" and he might not put a thrill down your leg -- but he is what a president should be:  He's competent, patriotic and experienced in leadership.  You're right on target!!  So let's send Mr. Cool (with the smooth-talk) back to the locker room, where he belongs!

"Mr. Cool"'s "smooth talk" is not so smooth without the teleprompter...just keep breaking the teleprompter wherever he goes and people will start to hear what he really thinks and believes.

I don't watch movies, I create people of character. I stand with people of vision. I look months and years down the road. What will be the result if we do not demand more and expect more from our candidates? The same krap that we joined this conversation 3 years ago to prevent!

Maybe the strategy is for Romney to put the voters to sleep for 4 yrs and when they wake up they have Romneycare, another $4 trillion in federal debt, a 6.9% unemployment rate, and the Federal Reserve still has interest rates near 0%.  The Tea Party needs a Plan B.

...and their lies the problem which is why we lose.  They think that this guy is soooo bad that we will vote for anybody which is why they keep pushing the lesser of 2 evils.  How about we get a real conservative who will stop with the nonsense once and for all so we can get back to the American way of doing things!

Deb in Texas, I am Donald in Texas.  I had a dream last night, and this is the truth.

I was thinking about that oft used cliche' that I have heard repeated ad nauseam for

these last few months: "the lesser of two evils".  And I've read it over and over again: "I

will NOT vote for the lesser of two evils!!!  Evil is evil, is evil, etc."

Anywise, the very first thing that came to my mind when I woke up this morning was:

"If you won't vote for the lesser of two evils, why not vote for the more conservative of

the two candidates?"

I am going to put that in my cap and wear it like a feather.  I have said this before: during

the Republican primaries, Mitt Romney beat out two contenders in my mind; he beat out

Huntsman, and he beat out Ron Paul.  That was it!  But, we are where we are.  And where

are we?  Mitt Romney is going to be the Republican candidate who will face off against the

most evil man who has ever decieved enough people to be elected POTUS.  Ron Paul is

not going to upset that apple cart, and I don't believe Sarah Palin will even try.  Allen West?

He is one of the best aces we have, and I certainly hope he'll be ready and willing in 2016!

We're four months away from what I consider to be the most important election in my life-

time, if not in the history of this great nation that, in the past, God has so richly blessed.

Now, here is the thing:  IF Romney wins this upcoming election, then I believe that we will

have another election in four more years.

So, do put the thing about "the lesser of two evils" to bed!  Who is going to be the more

conservative of the two candidates??  Answer:  Can you honestly point to any political figure

on earth today and say, "Barrack H. Obama is more conservative than that man (or woman)?"

If so, name that individual ___ please!

Otherwise, carry on!

Semper Fi!

The truth is:  We are HERE right now!!  We have one person who is going up against Obama!  That is Romney.  Don't be thinking about anything else -- or anyone else.  The primaries are over!  The other people are gone -- no matter what we want to think, or cry about, or complain about -- WE'RE HERE!!  With one candidate!  Unless you want to cast a vote for Obama!!  And if you do, you're a person who doesn't care about this country!!  Think about that, long and hard -- until your brain hurts!  Then come up with an answer -- a good one -- TO HELP YOUR COUNTRY!!

How about some love for my man Judson! Ron Paul makes the list again.

I have a challenge for my next Paulbot commenter.

Name:

1) the book of his you read

2) the plank of his platform

3) the youtube speech

that supports your anti-paul position.
