Occasionally a miracle occurs. A friend of yours wins the lottery. The Chicago Cubs will win the World Series sometime in the next 100 years.
A miracle may be happening in the Republican Party. The light may be finally coming on. Could the GOP finally realize there is a problem?
John Boehner of all people actually came out and said it.
From Roll Call:
But at a June 30 fundraiser in Wheeling, W.Va., Speaker John Boehner offered a surprisingly frank assessment of the dynamic that surprised some in the audience.
Aside from Romney’s “friends, relatives and fellow Mormons,” Boehner said, most people will be motivated to vote for him in opposition to Obama.
The Ohio Republican made the remarks when an unidentified woman asked during a question-and-answer session: “Can you make me love Mitt Romney?”
“No,” Boehner said. “Listen, we’re just politicians. I wasn’t elected to play God. The American people probably aren’t going to fall in love with Mitt Romney. I’ll tell you this: 95 percent of the people that show up to vote in November are going to show up in that voting booth, and they are going to vote for or against Barack Obama.
Boehner is actually showing some intelligence.
The problem here is that he is right. The Republican Party is poised to nominate someone who fits right into the tradition of bad Republican Presidential candidates.
Honestly who the hell likes Mitt Romney?
Is anyone other than his immediate family passionate about his candidacy? When Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich endorsed Romney, they both said the same thing. He isn’t Barack Obama.
Their endorsements were not that he would make a fantastic President. Their endorsements were not that he would change America for the better. It’s just he isn’t Barack Obama.
Earth to the Republican Party! Buy a clue while you still can.
You will never win an election by simply telling people to vote against the other guy.
If you are going to win you have to offer something and one of the things that has to be offered is passion.
Mitt Romney offers no passion or excitement. His best future might be as the keynote speaker for Insomniacs of America. Republicans were passionate about Michele Bachmann. They were passionate about Rick Perry. They were passionate about Herman Cain and are still passionate about his “9-9-9” plan. They were passionate about Newt Gingrich. Even Ron Paul had passionate followers.
Mitt Romney just puts everyone to sleep.
The only thing the Republican establishment seems to be able to say about Mitt Romney is that he is not Barack Obama and he is not a conservative Tea Party candidate.
If the Republican Party is to create a functioning majority, like Ronald Reagan did, it has to not only stand for something but it must have ideas and candidates that create passion.
When the highest-ranking elected Republican says voters are not going to fall in love with the presumptive nominee, then that should be a red alert message to the Republican Party that they need to do something and do something quickly.
For this election, failure is not an option. Barack Obama must be defeated. But as even John Boehner noted, Mitt Romney is not going to create the kind of passion that makes people go out and vote for him.
The Republican Party needs to act quickly before Mitt Romney joins that long list of Republican failures that includes Bob Dole and John McCain.
I am not a family member of Romney's, or a Mormon -- but I'm going to vote for Romney because he understands why the healthcare bill is wrong, and is going to get rid of it. And he has experience -- which Obama did not have! I think Romney is competent, and conservative -- and he also is NOT Obama!! He knows how to do things that will save our economy -- and bring back dignity to our White House. He will lead our country back through the right path. We are sick of spending ourselves into oblivion for Obama's friends (cronies!) and green jobs that go bankrupt after we give them 1/2 million dollars! That's why we are broke!! And we do not use our own resources for energy and jobs. Obama wouldn't even help our country by letting the pipeline from Canada be put into use?!! It's no wonder our country is failing at a rate of speed that would make your head spin!! We HAVE to get rid of Obama -- he's a disgrace and a failure -- he is causing us to fail, and embarrassing our country!! Please help get him out of that office before it's too late!!! Vote for Romney and his competency!! That's what I'm going to do -- and GET RID OF OBAMA!!
LOL. Romney is not conservative. Look at his time in Massachusetts if you're still confused about that.
He is about as conservative as a used car salesman is an honest man. But then again I'm not walking across America or riding anything government less than military transportation.
If Romney would promise to undo all of the stuff bozo has done, including the executive orders, then I would have no problem supporting him. Do you think he will make such a promise?
Also, if he would promise to defund and dismiss the UN from our country, I would sponsor a campaign team for him here in Georgia. Do you think he will make such a promise?
I don't think our Republican ELITIST ESTABLISHMENT would allow him to make such promises. Perhaps we need to get rid of them, too.
Amen to that, I stood in a crowd for 2-3 hours, in the heat 106% in Nashville, TN yesterday and shook the hand of a US Senator that voted to confirm Eric with Holder and Timothy taxcheat Geithner. In the primary I am votring with my heart for his opponent In the general I am voting with my head the, I can smell you now, the Honorable (LOL) Senator.
Unless we act quickly or get a good conservative Tea Party follower as VP you are right. That is the very reason we in Michigan replaced Saul Anusiz as national committeeman with Dave Agema, Saul as you remember screwed Rick Santorim in the primary in feb. of this year. He played games with the system and found out if Michigan is in the win column it has to be by a conservative vote. All you RINO's take heed.
Sorry guys but Mitt is the pick. We can accept it or not but he is the GOP nominee. A third party nominee will allow Obama a second term. Those are the facts. Maybe the VP selection will bring some conservative values to the ticket. This is our ONLY hope. Actually, I am trying to gain enthusiasm with Romneys selection, since it is a foregone conclusion. The VP pick will not be Palin and probably not Allen West but we can hope.
Bob Dole and John McCain were the worst two picks ever for a supposedly intelligent political party. Romney is not in their league. Just my two cents.
You are RIGHT! I say: WAKE UP AMERICA!! Face reality -- will you vote for Mitt Romney, or for Barack Obama. That should be an easy choice -- unless you're totally out of your mind!!
Seems I remember another Tea Party or two pushing Mitt Romney. Too bad at least the Tea Parties couldn't get on the same page. Is it too late? What can we do?
The problem in the GOP is not that Republicans nominate less than exciting candidates. It's that the really good and exciting conservatives within the party are too smart to want to run for president.
Our best, most passionate and most conservative candidate this year, was Bachmann. But she didn't have the bankroll and was forced to drop out early. So here's what we were then left with:
The fact is that GOOD, SOLID CONSERVATIVES just don't want to run for president and frankly, I don't blame them. It's a meat grinder and even if you win, you will never again have any real privacy. If you fail, as a Republican president, you will be savaged by the media. But even if you succeed, the next president will blame you for his own failures. Today, to run for president, as a conservative, you have to be not only a patriot, but be a masochist, as well. Perhaps that's why the GOP tends to routinely have such a weak field to choose from.
It's not the fault of Republican voters that Romney is the nominee. It's simply that Romney won by default, since there was nobody any better on the ballot. They all had serious flaws and I think that voters simply chose the lesser evil, as a way to insure that we would have a candidate who could defeat Obama.
Let's look at that list again (keeping in mind that Bachmann, who was the only proven conservative, was a non-starter, due to lack of funds).
Romney may not be conservative and he may not be exciting. But as I look back over the field, I realize that purely by coincidence, the GOP lucked out, since Romney is the only one of that field who has a chance of defeating Obama. I know that's not much consolation. But proven and experienced conservatives just don't seem to want to run for President. It's not the fault of GOP voters that Romney is the nominee. It's a system that favors a field of second rate candidates in BOTH party primaries. It's how we got B. Hussein. It's how we got Dubyuh. It's how we got Clinton. It's how we got Daddy Bush. The system is just stacked against quality candidates.
You left out the part that Romney has not shown that he is eligible to be President: via his father's citizenry.
I'm TOTALLY with you on that one, David!!
MITT ROMNEY IS NOT A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN!
Edward C. Noonan
My basic premise is simple…Mitt Romney, candidate for President 2012 cannot be eligible for President because his entire family converted to Mexican citizenship and relinquished their US Citizenship.
Above is a pedigree chart first showing GEORGE ROMNEY, the father of Mitt Romney. Second shows George’s parents, Gaskell and Anna Romney. Then we have the two grandparents of George Romney, who was Miles and Hannah Romney, and then Helaman and Anna Pratt.
In my previous post I explained that Helaman Pratt had been ordained by the LDS President, John Taylor to become Mexican citizens and help colonize the Mexican Territory of the Colonia Dublan, Chihuahua area of Mexico.
This was quoted from the Helaman Pratt Journal of about 1884.
This post will deal with the other great-grandfather of Mitt Romney who was Miles Park Romney. The same priesthood duty was conferred on Miles Romney. I quote a genealogy page of the our-genealogy.com: See:
The Romney family Genealogy/History is recorded as the following:
“In 1885, President John Taylor advised Brother Romney to go to Mexico, to help establish settlements there. He was to first take with him only one of his families, the one with the fewest children. Hannah stayed in St. Johns, Arizona. In 1886, Brother Romney sent his eighteen-year-old son, Will, back from Mexico to bring Hannah to the colonies. She traveled alone with her children in a wagon from St. Johns, Arizona to the colonies of Mexico through Indian territory.”
Miles Romney lived in Mexico as a Mexican citizen for the next two decades and until his death in 1904. Miles is buried in Colonia Dublan, Chihuahua, Mexico.
This is where Gaskell Romney also became a Mexican citizen. He married his wife in Colonia Dublan.
Wikipedia states of the Colonia Dublan colony: “In 1888, George M. Brown of Provo, Utah made a deal with German-Mexican Lewis Huller for 73,000 acres (300 km2) of land north of what was then the Casas Grandes River. The colony, which was originally called Colonia Huller, was first settled by George Lake, a Mormon colonist, with many others following in the spring of 1889. However, due to a problem with the deal between Brown and Huller, titles to the land could not be given to them. Instead, the colonists were forced to rent from the native population or make their own individual purchases. When it was founded, the nearest train station to the colony was Gallego, 110 miles (180 km) away. Since a large percentage of goods consumed by the colony had to be imported from the United States, prices were high. In 1897, a railroad was built from Ciudad Juárez to a point twelve miles (19 km) outside of Dublán. The railroad proved extremely valuable for the colony, as goods could be cheaply imported and exported.
The community was also the birth place of Michigan Governor George W. Romney, father of 2012 Presidential candidate Mitt Romney.”
There is no doubt that George W. Romney is NOT a citizen of the United States. And there are no records showing George Romney’s father ever to have been re-patrioted. At least I can find no such record.
A Boston Globe News webpage states:”After fleeing the Mexican revolution, Mitt Romney's grandfather, Gaskell lost his home and possessions..."
As best as I can determine, Gaskell and this son, George came back to the US and renounced their Mexican citizenship. Once they did this all of their Mexican property and possessions were confiscated.
The Gaskell website continues: "Gaskell sued Mexico for the loss of his property and, in 1938, was awarded damages of $9,163."
The big question is this…how did George and Gaskell Romney get their US Citizenship back if they still had it at all? If Gaskell (son) and Miles Park Romney (father) who were both Mexican citizens how could they transfer US Citizenship to George Romney? Mitt Romney, however, may be a birthright baby because he fell under the 14th Amendment (I doubt they were under the jurisdiction of the US) but it is absolutely clear that Mitt Romney is NOT a Natural Born Citizen unless he can prove that George Romney gained citizenship from naturalization prior to Mitt's birth in 1947. I have found no records showing this to be the case.
