George Patton was caught urinating into the Rhine River in 1945. People cheered Patton for killing the enemy and visiting hell upon them. Now, four Marine snipers are going to be criminally charged for urinating on dead Taliban terrorists.
From Fox News:
The four Marines seen in a video that purports to show them urinating on dead bodies in Afghanistan have been identified and will face charges soon, a senior military official told Fox News.
The Marines are from the 3rd battalion, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force out of Camp Lejeune, N.C. A fifth individual, the camera operator, apparently has not been identified.
Meanwhile, the Marine Corps has appointed a three-star general to decide what disciplinary action to take against the four Marine snipers.
Lt. Gen. Thomas Waldhauser will name another officer to lead an internal Marine Corps investigation. That investigation will be in addition to a criminal probe already under way by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. Waldhauser, who is commander of Marine Corps Forces Central Command, will determine how to proceed once both investigations are completed.
NCIS Communications Director Maryann Cummings also said her department's probe is still "in its very early stages."
This is what happens when we have liberals in charge. What are they going to do next, require sensitivity training for snipers when they kill someone?
When you absolutely, positively need to destroy the enemy, you send in the Marine Corps. The purpose of the Marine Corps is to go to some very bad places and deal with very bad people.
Marine Corps snipers are a very special type of Marine. While Marines will often engage in small unit combat, snipers by their nature are asked to do something very specific. They reach out and deliberately kill individual targets. Regular Marines in combat may or may not know if they killed someone and sometimes if they do, it is in hand to hand combat.
Snipers reach out at a long distance and kill someone. They do not give the other guy a fighting chance. Their job is to reach out and destroy someone.
These Marines were almost certainly in combat. They saw the horrors of war and saw what the enemy did to non-combatants and what they did to other Marines. It is a safe bet they all lost friends, not to hand to hand combat but to IED’s and other booby traps.
What liberals do not understand is the purpose of the military is to go and kill the enemy. It is not to do public relations or nation building. You designate the enemy and you send the military in to destroy that enemy.
When they are done, sometimes the Marines need to blow off some steam. We ask them to do something that we do not ask most Americans to do.
These Marines peed on the corpses of dead Taliban. The Taliban are war criminals. They torture and kill. They will not stand on the battlefield in uniform and engage the military. They hide behind civilians.
Screw them.
Those Marines were asked to go and serve their country and kill our enemies. They did.
Give them a medal and send them back to work.

I hope you get off this train of thought soon. I appreciate the Marines and all the military units, but there's no need for our men to act like savages.
Permalink Reply by Ritchard Little on January 14, 2012 at 10:29am I am not sure that I will explain this right but here goes.
Also I am not trying to be a smart ass I hope that it does not come off like that.
A combat solder is programmed to kill as many enemy as needed and not by loving them to death.
A combat solder makes up only a small percentage of all troops.
In combat if he or she survives long enough and has seen enough of their buddies killed in hideous ways the shy naive young person next door is changed forever.
The Marines in question should not be punished but de-programmed.

Permalink Reply by Darrell Russell on January 14, 2012 at 9:45am The marines were to first shack the taliban's hands and tell them that they were going to kill them that day and the Taliban fighters jocking said to the marines."Piss on me if you get the job done" end of subject.

Permalink Reply by Jack Kemp on January 14, 2012 at 9:50am A few years ago, George Stephanopoulos's sister, a nun working on the West Bank, complained about Israeli soldiers defecating (no. 2) on equipment in an office during an urban warfare firefight. It was equipment she was previously using. In a response to this on Lucianne.com, an American posted that during WWII, his uncle was fighting in Germany, also inside a city. He needed to move his bowels, so he entered a house and held the family at gunpoint while he did a number 2 on their living room floor.
In G. Gordon Liddy's book, "When I was a a Kid, This was a Free Country," there is a story about Eleanor Roosevelt being upset that Seventh Infantry Division on Okinowa went into battle with a skull of a dead Imperial Japanese Army soldier lashed to a post on the front of their tanks. Mrs. Roosevelt, in a Saturday Evening Post article she authored (the most widely read US publication of that time), said that the soldiers should not be permitted back into the US until they had been "re-civilized." But even she didn't call for their being brought up on charges.
I agree with Rep. Alan West. This is a minor infraction and should be dealt with at the local level within their battalion.

Eleanor Roosevelt's eldest son (Major Jimmy Roosevelt, USMC) served in Edson's Raiders with my 2nd cousin GySgt Joe Buntin at Guadacanal when they were securing "Henderson Field". Jimmy Roosevelt was a distinguished Marine and served in one of the most vicious Marine Fighting Teams in history. He did not have to go because his father was President of the United States...but that is the Character of Franklin & Eleanor Roosevelt...their son would serve "in the lead" of the rest of the men that they had sent to battle !

Permalink Reply by Sumsanity on January 14, 2012 at 10:00am I think the marines should be punished ... for stupidity. You don't video tape stuff like that and release it to the internet. I certainly don't mind what they did. Especially after the heinous things the Taliban do to their own women and for the way those Sunnis dragged our dead soldiers bodies though the streets in Iraq and hung them from a bridge. They could pee on them and stick a pork sandwich in their mouths before dumping them in a ditch to feed the crows. But giving the doves and the enemy ammo is just foolish.
Put 'em on KP for a day and then give them a medal. God Bless you Marines. And thank you.

I've read some of the replies here.Being prior military myself I understand the code of conduct the entire military has to use in order to make sure all of our people comply. What these guys did was totally uncalled for. Ask anyone that has represented our nation over seas and they will say the same thing. They deserve punishment under the U.C.M.J. That would be a Field Grade Article 15 administered by field grade officer, not a general court marshall administered by a general officer. A field grade officer can take one paygrade from e-5 and below, take 1/2 of one months pay for two months and 30 days restriction, and 30 days extra duty and that is the max. If it goes to court marshall they face prison and dishonorable discharge. This will probably be handled at company level by their company commander. A cpt. can inflict half of the punishment as a field grade officer could, and can only reduce the rank that he can promote.

Tommy David,
Thank you for this civilized and erudite response. I have been reading other responses and they scare me.
I remember seeing the picture of the Iraqi woman who was shown rejoincing over 9/11. I thought it was so terrible and I compare a lot of the Tea Party members similiar, not that the deed was as serious as 9/11 but shows the same mentality..
Though not a Democrat, I shared some of the statments that some like Hillary Clinton made about this incident..
