Today we are finding out that in the last six weeks, seven Americans have been killed in Afghanistan by Afghan troops. These are the men who are supposed to be our allies. They are becoming as deadly for American soldiers as the Taliban.
What are we doing in Afghanistan?
What are we doing in the sandbox as a lot of the military personnel over there like to call it?
We are losing.
We are losing by design.
You cannot win a war when the Commander in Chief not only does not want to win; he does everything in his power to keep our guys from winning. Our troops know this.
Michael Yon is an amazing writer and photographer. He is also a former soldier with Special Forces. He understands the military and has written about the situation in Afghanistan.
After the mass murder last week in Afghanistan, he wrote it was not only predictable that something like this would happen, he had predicted it. On February 24, Yon wrote: “As the prevalence of insider attacks rises, and we lose more troops to Afghan troops going berserk and murdering our people, it’s likely just a matter of time before a U.S. troop or troops turn the table and intentionally slaughter Afghan forces.
“That could lead to a meltdown. We are at risk of losing control of more than some people might imagine. There is only so much that U.S. forces will put up with before fringe U.S. combat troops start taking matters into their own hands. Believe me.”
Why are we in Afghanistan?
The simple fact is we are there because of a bad idea, namely the Bush administration’s idea of nation building and now we are there because we have a President who wants to see America lose the war. He just does not want to be blamed for that loss.
American troops in Afghanistan are tied up by unrealistic rules of engagement that make them little more than targets. They know they are not there to win the war. They are just marking time until Obama can pull them out.
They know they are not allowed to identify the enemy or take effective action against them. They know they have to allow armed Afghans to work with them and the soldiers are reduced to praying that the next crazed Muslim seeking the 72 virgin express to paradise isn’t working next to him.
Our soldiers know that not only is our President making it impossible for America to win in Afghanistan, we have a so-called ally in Afghan President Hamid Karzai who hates America, and all but cheers for the Taliban.
Why should another drop of American blood be spilled there?
Screw Afghanistan.
We went into Afghanistan to stop the terrorists from using it as a base. The terrorists have gone elsewhere. It is time to follow the terrorists.
Let’s get our soldiers the hell out of there.
But as we leave, let’s take everything we brought with us and if we can’t take it with us, let’s blow it up. If these savages want to live in the 7th century, so be it. Let’s blow up every road, building, dam, power line and airstrip that has built in that open sewer of Southwest Asia.
And as we leave, let’s give Karzai a message. In a few months, Obama is going to be replaced with a real American. Here’s a box of SPF 20,000 sunscreen because if you invite the terrorists back in, next time, we aren’t sending soldiers and we aren’t going to worry about collateral damage. Next time, there will be a radioactive glass spot where the terrorist camp was and where your palace was.

Permalink Reply by Walter Cleveland Tune on Withdraw all allied forces and diplomatic personnel and carpet bomb the whole country. Leave Afghanistan as the 7th century tribes they want to be. But make sure that we leave no 21st century amenities behind. No airfields, no water treatment plants, no power stations, highways, dams, etc. Leave it so depleted that the Taliban will have to sell pencils from their tin cup to survive. That will obviate the need to worry about Al Qaida using the craters as training ground.
Ask the people of Dresden, Germany what carpet bombing will accomplish. As the Marine said, "These folks want to meet Allah. I just speed up the meeting time."
Permalink Reply by Walter Cleveland Tune on After WWII, the Department of War was renamed Defense Department. Wars are not won by the defense. Wars are won by the most effective offense. Note that we fought two major campaigns in Europe/Africa and the Pacific in WWII and defeated our enemies.
Since the name change, we have tied in Korea, and still have a ceasefire rather than a peace treaty. Then we left VietNam as losers, because the politicians in DC tried to control all action from the Oval Office. No, our troops could have won, but they were ordered not to do so. Then we drove Saddam out of Kuwait, but failed to finish the job because we subordinated our interests to those of the UN.
Then we spent years in Iraq and Afghanistan to virtually no avail. In both cases we established supposedly democratic governments that hate America. And though our actions saved the Saudis from invasion and occupation, they still treat us like dirt. You can still be executed for carrying a Bible in Saudi Arabia. Maybe we should execute anyone carrying a Koran here?
We need to go back to the Department of War and change our philosophy to project our own interests and to hell with the UN, NATO, OAS, etc.

The Defense Dept. is a "Politically Correct" Label. The WAR Department says what it means, and when we again become a Nation with a WAR Dept., there will be a whole lot of People who will not mess with us. Reagan had the idea, be the meanest person in the valley of death, and fear no evil............because you are armed.

In Lebanon the Marine Battalion Landing Team (BLT) 1984, blown sky high bcuz of silly rules of engagement, i.e. They were not allowed to insert "magazines" into Their weapons, at least while or certainly while in "garrison", i.e. "on base". Consequently the truck, loaded with explosives, tore through the gate, past the "gate guard" onto and up the steps leading into the entrance of the barracks housing the "BLT". The Guard at the Base Gate entrance said that the explosive loaded vehicle entered the area unencumbered with not so much as a shot fired at the truck as the driver smiled when He and the truck sped by.
The explosive laden Truck drove up into the lobby entrance, or "foyer" and then detonated, killing something like 235 Marines and Navy.
You may congratulate Our wonderful House, and Senate Legislatators along with the Executive Branch for that one.
Same with Viet Nam. The Viet Nam War being run, Rules of Engagement (ROE), stratagy, tactics all being dictated in Washington, D.C. by a bunch of "pasty faced", three martini lunch, white shirt and tie "politicians" to include L.B.J..
Our Men and Women in Uniform operating in Hostile Environments such as this current Sh!thole, Afghanistan are being used as nothing more than "bait" for Those Who would love nothing more than to shoot Them in the back of the head at the first opportunity as happened recently to Two Army Officers in Afghanistan.
Since the Politicans in Washington, D.C. do not have to worry about being shot or blown sky high by Their adversaries, They have not a problem with making Our Armed Forces operating in Afghanistan fight with one arm tied behind Their backs.
Our present Government going back to Looney Bains Johnson with Viet Nam to This present Day should be brought up on "charges" Crimminal Charges for Their flippant and cavalier regard for the safety of American Personnel deployed in "Hostile Environments"
But now I am really dreaming, i.e. ain't gonna happen, unless "We the People" rise up and MAKE IT HAPPEN ! ! ! ! ! ! By whatever means necessary.
Terminate, Terminate with extreme prejudice, all of those "pasty faced" Trough Feeding Pigs of Washington, D.C., i.e. Those Politicians "guilty" of promoting the agenda of silly, "hoping to appease" rules of engagement.
They without conscience or qualm have only served to waste the lives of many brothers, sisters, sons, daughters nephews and nieces and then go traipsing off merrily to some fancy eatery or drinking hole without a second thought to Their actions and the results those actions and/or "policies" will produce. They do not Care to say the least and I am sure sleep very well at night with the worst They will face is a case of indegistion or a "hangover the next day. They should all be lined up and shot.
And Those Politiciens found guilty promoting unsafe rules of engagement that result in the unecessary deaths of Americans, should then be summarily "strung up" on a "stretch cord" so They slowly strangle to death as well.

It is a war? that canot be won and a war that we need to and must get out of.

In Vietnam we won the war militarily, but the *$%#^&* politicians in DC were cowards and surrendered . They would not let us fight to win. We have enough troops and firepower to defeat the muslim terrorists in afgan, iran, and pakistan IF there was loyal American leadership. Zero has replaced all of the fighting Generals with liberal thinking paper pusher yes men.
