In a perfect world or even a fair world, Newt Gingrich would be wrapping up the Republican nomination for President.
Life is not fair.
Newt hangs on, like a bloodied and battered Rocky, refusing to throw in the towel.
Newt was the amazing candidate of this election. He came back from the political dead several times.
Newt was the candidate of ideas. Newt was the candidate Obama feared. Obama never mocked or worried about anything Mitt Romney said or for that matter any other republican said. He worried about what Newt said.
When Obama attacked the Republicans, he attacked Newt’s ideas. Obama mocked Newt’s idea of $2.50 a gallon gas.
America’s future, at least at the Presidential level is bleak. We will either have a President who is an anti-American Marxist or his potential replacement is not only a liberal, but is basically a soulless technocrat
For Mitt Romney, the current situation our nation faces is simply a problem to be solved. There is no good or evil in solving a problem. There is simply the proper solution that works.
The problem is we are dealing with our nation.
Men and women do not willingly sacrifice themselves for a spreadsheet or for a government. Men and women will gladly sacrifice themselves for a cause greater than themselves.
The problems America now faces are more than simply a problem to be solved. The answer is not the correct monetary policy. It is not a question of whether the right system is used.
Freedom and liberty are causes for which people are passionate about. People do not rise up just because don’t happen to like the way someone talks. The question for freedom and liberty is a universal hunger.
Newt the historian understood this better than the other candidates.
He knew this campaign was not a sterile process of selecting a CEO. This was a contest of ideas. America needs the passionate ideas of a visionary to pull us away from the abyss. We need a Ronald Reagan, Thomas Jefferson and a George Washington.
Newt was not any of those men but he was the best candidate in the race.
Newt’s ideas were so far beyond everyone else’s that when he would make a point in a debate, the other candidates would simply nod like bobble heads.
This Easter weekend, Rick Santorum is meeting with some of his supporters. They will be talking about the future of his campaign. Newt can no longer win. Santorum’s chances are becoming slim.
Americans are not a people who look back. But this time, no matter what happens this fall, next year we may well be looking back wondering what might have been.
Thank you Newt.

Permalink Reply by John Wiseman on April 6, 2012 at 5:54pm Judson, I also am a fan of Newt. I hope that Romney will include much of what Newt was saying into his campaign in the General. My endorsement and support for Newt were not based at all upon any considerations of who would be electable, but upon the things he promised to do as President. His 21st century contract with America is that exact laundry list of things which we as a nation need to accomplish in order to restore our economic growth and our freedoms. I also wish to thank Newt.
Permalink Reply by NWBill on April 6, 2012 at 8:26pm I'm in full agreement with John and Judson. I know for a fact that, no matter who wins the next election, I will be having a lot of "What if?" moments after next January. And I really do hope that Mitt REALLY studies the proposals and ideas at Newt.org; one of the BEST informational and historical websites of all time, in my humble opinion.
Let's move ahead, now, and unite in our #1 goal: DEFEAT BARACK OBAMA!!!
BREITBART IS HERE!
Permalink Reply by Mary Jo Hudnall on April 6, 2012 at 9:12pm Work for newt until he says it is over...make MITT work for it he will appreciate what a conservative means more it we MAKE a great showing for NEWT. Those northern states are very moderate, Newt did not expect to do well there. But he must get his message out! NEWT 2012! On to TAMPA!
Permalink Reply by Janice Hall Waddell on April 7, 2012 at 12:33pm You can't throw in the towel, just yet - only half the country has voted, although, unfortunately, the MSM has called the race and is causing people who would have voted for others, to vote for Romney. I say get Newt, Santorum and Gingrich together, as they did in WA state...defeat Romney! The time to unite on a candidate is when the nomination actually happens at the convention.
Obama is ready for Mitt - he already has all his research done, and is already throwing out signs of how he is going to campaign against him. I don't believe that he would be as ready for a Newt or Santorum run.
Permalink Reply by Caleb White on April 6, 2012 at 5:57pm I couldn't agree more Judson. I supported Newt from the very begining. I hope he gets offered a real position of influence by whoever the nominee is. It would be a real waste of experience and wisdom to let someone like Newt ride off into obscurity. Perhaps Secretary of State or Defense. Thank you Newt. You are a true patriotic American. God Bless you....
I totally agree with you my brother.

Permalink Reply by Jerry Schmidt on April 6, 2012 at 6:00pm I too, was a supporter of Gingrich. But, the powers that be in the Republican heirarchy totally dissed him. They are the reason we ended up with Bob Dole and John McCain, Even if we win, we lose.
Yep. Not much different this time except that some are finally complaining about it. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0412/74894.html

Go to: massresistance.org/romney while I go to the sites you have just mentioned. Plan to take time to read the articles and judge for yourself of course. I would really appreciate a comment from you.
Well, it looks like DOMA will take a beating but Planned Parenthood will come out okay. Everything's a tradeoff, no? (Please! That was a joke - and not such a funny one.)
Harriet, I'm aghast, both at the volume of information and at the nature of it. Very disappointed in the Heritage Foundation and other conservative groups that could apparently be 'bought'. I guess now we know where daddy's money went since he says he gave it all away....
If Romney gets the WH, I think our best bet is to have large placards printed up and hung all the way around both the House & Senate chambers, and some of those hand-held auction paddles, too, all with one word: NO! Perhaps elocution lessons for every Senator & Rep. : NO-O-O! When they see Romney coming hold up the paddles, point to the placards and say the word in nice round tones. Heaven help us! (If you don't know what we're talking about, go here: http://massresistance.org/romney/)

Carol, unless I missed it in reading through that morass in the link, where is the Heritage Foundation connection? If you would, point me to it. Thanks
Edward, Scroll down about 2/3 to just under the photo of R. signing Romneycare, you'll see "Buying off politicians and groups".
There's a whole cluster of information there, the one I saw is at the bottom of the left column. That link points to a column by the NYT.
