Teen’s challenge to U.S. Rep. Bachmann stirs online attacks

By Jason Nark / Philadelphia

Amy Myers is an honor-roll student who dreams of becoming an equine veterinarian someday. She also got bit by the political bug -- like her conservative grandfather -- and the 16-year-old sophomore is running for class president at Cherry Hill East High School.

Her aunt said she’s "as sweet as pie."

But ever since Myers decided to write a letter to tea-party queen Michele Bachmann last month, challenging the GOP congresswoman from Minnesota to debate over the U.S. Constitution, her father says she’s been getting stung by the party’s most poisonous fangs.

The article goes on to describe how Amy has received threats of various kinds because she challenged Rep. Bachmann.  Well, after reading some of the comments, those threats seem to me to be a little "put up."  I would like to actually see these threats, especially since the family has not contacted the police for any type of protection.

Could it be that there were not any threats, but this is being used as a ploy to shame Rep. Bachmann into a debate?

Whatever is really going on, I would like to see Rep. Bachmann debate the young lady.  I think this would be a good PR move on her behalf and perhaps this young woman would get a REAL civics lesson from a true, conservative, constitutional patriot leader ... one of the few we have in this country!

If the girl is a true Constituinalist it would be a good debate, But if she is a Damocrat in disguise she will twist the debate and the constitution to her point of view. It could be a set up!!! Gene
A set up and fodder for the lame-stream media and any other attention-seeker.
Exactly, Carla. Clearly a set-up by Libs. Would the author of this blog suggest that Obama debate a child on the Constititution (although the average home-schooled child would wipe up the floor with Obama)? No, of course not. Yet some people think any and all conservatives should just tie themselves into a pretzel and bend over backwards to accomodate any ridiculous, crackpot demand. Congresswoman Bachmann has a lot on her plate. She is busy with a Presidential exploratory committee and with representing her constituents, and she really, really does not have time to participate in what is clearly a set-up. Pathetic, desperate Libs! They'll do anything to avoid talking about Obama's record! The so-called online attacks are probably just the friends and relatives of the girl's parents!
If Bachmann can't punch through a "set up" by a highschooler, then she shouldn't be thinking about being the president.

She would OWN that little girl!  She should definitely take up the challenge!

right on, liberals are always trying to be tricky, because they can never be upfront and honest about anything

I know some people on the outside who are "sweet as pie" and on the inside raving lunatics. So which is it?

I hope Michelle does debate her but be careful and see this for what it really is - a liberal ploy.

I think Michelle is sharp enough to stay out of a trap.  She'd better be if she plans to run for President.  And I think that it would be a great opportunity to give a message to young voters.  I hate to say it but, to alot of young voters, the tea party is a bunch of old folks.

If I was her father and she had received threats the first thing I would have done is contact the police! Evidently he is not too worried and where is the proof that there were any threats! Or could this just be manufactured for publicity?
punks
Bachman's people should be screening this to see if legit - if not or if it is will determine her answer to the kid/
Actually the local police department has been notified and they are keeping an eye on her house and on the girl herself while she's in school since thats where the majority of the threats were received... just sayin..
