Strategies of the Left to Suppress Your First Amendment Rights

Those readers who were around to witness, or even partake in, the demonstrations of the 1960s recall that the Freedom of Speech, the basis for the First Amendment, was a major concern of politically active young people. The freedom of speech, the freedom to express themselves, was of utmost importance in what they viewed as a repressive and unhealthy society. Young men grew their hair long as a statement of personal expression in a time when long hair on a man was viewed as aberrant, even defiant of social norms. Remember Bob Seger’s huge hit song from the 70s, “Turn the Page?” Seger sings about walking into restaurants and public places time and time again, and being chastised, or even asked to leave because he had long hair. Today’s youth may listen to these lyrics, but the words do not have the same impact that they had in the mid-70s when Seger delivered them because the youth of today have no idea what American culture was really like before the culture revolution of the 60s. You would NEVER see an executive, youth pastor or any man of high position with hair below his collar. Today, a man’s hair length is no indication whatsoever of his position, his political views or the content of his character. A man’s long hair is simply an expression of personal taste.

To use another classic rock example, listen to the Supertramp hit from the 70s, “The Logical Song.” The lyrics, “Watch what you say, they’ll be calling you a radical, liberal, fanatical, criminal. Won't you sign up your name, we'd like to feel you're acceptable...” I was singing along to this song the other day and I noticed something very peculiar. Insert the word “conservative” for the word “liberal” and this song has a profound meaning for the state of the First Amendment in today’s world.

Why is it that the same people that demonstrated, and even committed violent acts, in defense of their First Amendment rights (i.e. the Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn crowd) are now actively involved in the suppression of those very rights of others, namely conservatives? The consensus among the Left is “Say whatever you want, as long as you believe what we believe.” This idea is diametrically opposed to the true meaning of Freedom of Speech. Only in today’s world, the Left has become masterful at the suppression of individuals’ First Amendment rights through avenues that were not available in the 60s and 70s.

I woke up today with this article on my heart and I had to get it down on paper even before even checking my email. These are some of the strategies used by the Left to suppress the First Amendment rights of conservatives, Christians and anyone else who does not think like the Left.

Media Bias

Most conservatives and Christians are aware of the blatant media bias against the Right in the media of today. From the “lamestream media,” to borrow Sarah Palin’s pet phrase regarding the mainstream news organizations, to the sitcoms that attempt to sell a new family structure to the public, media bias is so painfully obvious that many people simply refuse to be mainstream media consumers. Twelve years ago, the creation of FOX News was an attempt to provide a viable alternative to the lamestream media, and for that, I will be forever grateful to Mr. Rupert Murdoch.

The Chilling Effect

The Chilling Effect is not a new strategy. Apparently, Supertramp felt this same pressure as they penned The Logical Song lyrics in the 70s. The Chilling Effect is very powerful. The Chilling Effect involves making examples of those who speak out, destroying their careers, relationships or very lives. Those individuals who have convictions, and would normally speak out on those convictions, are silenced by the mere possibility of covert or overt pressure. In my case, even my family applied the Chilling Effect to silence my mother, who yearned to voice her conservative convictions. Needless to say, they have also attempted to silence me. Well, I’ve got just enough spunk to fight them every step of the way, and to take a stand for what is right. Oh, the price I have paid for speaking out. I refer you to the forum piece posted on November 4th entitled. “Lesbian Judge in Austin Texas Forcing 52 Year Old Woman from Home for Being “Homophobic”. Go to my profile page (TC in Austin) and you will find it. DO NOT let my story have a chilling effect on you because that is exactly what the Left wants! If you allow the Chilling Effect to dominate what you say and how you think, there is no doubt that THEY WIN!

Peer Pressure

“Just go along to get along!” How many times have we heard this, or at least felt the sentiment? If you are someone whose convictions force them to buck a corrupt system, chances are your peers will distance themselves from you. Being a “rogue” carries a high price. Be prepared to lose friends, and even family, when you stand for what you believe is right. My dear friends, make no mistake. This is WAR. And there will be casualties.

Mob Pressure

If peer pressure does not work, mob pressure often will. Again, I refer you to my story. My home is stalked 24 hours a day, seven days a week by a mob of people. I am followed everywhere I go. Neighbors congregate outside my house in the street and clearly attempt to convey that they are talking about me....pointing, laughing and even sending their children to throw rocks and other objects at my house. I even caught one neighbor child spraying my rose bushes with poison. Of course, within two weeks, both rose bushes were dead. Report it to the police, you say? HAHAHA. Oh, I tried. The reports are made, but never officially filed...and definitely never followed up.

As I write this article, my online behavior is not only being monitored, but I am constantly hacked, my documents destroyed and my Internet connection interrupted! I’m sure my hackers will read this piece before you do because they are able to access everything I do on my computer. In the house two doors down from mine, there are five to 15? hackers at any given moment, forcing me offline several times a day and monitoring every single thing I type. Which brings me to the final strategy in this article, Suppression via Technology.

Suppression via Technology

The unique aspect of Suppression via Technology is that this is a strategy applied to people on an individual basis. Try to tell a friend or family member that you believe your online activity is being monitored or that you are being hacked. Try reporting it to the police. “Do you have proof?” Well, you may but unless you are very technically savvy, and I do mean VERY advanced, you have no chance of extracting the proof for a court case. Some of the technological interference is seemingly insignificant. Rights4Right, a very intelligent and well-spoken blogger on Tea Party Nation, posted a thoughtful piece on the site regarding her experiences visiting the US as a Canadian. Her article was riddled with typos and characters in odd places. What do you want to bet that when Rights4Right posted this piece, it was perfect - with no spelling errors? I would bet my house on it. Using cookies and other devices, Leftie hackers are able to insert random characters into comments, blog posts and other online text. The effect: to discredit the author. Just look at the comments that appeared in Rights4Right’s article! One TPN commenter stated that they would send the link to others who were not members of the site, had it not been for the typos. He thought it would not reflect well on him! Now, this seems almost to low and insignificant - even for the Left. Don’t be deceived. The comments on the piece reflect that the Left achieved their goal! At least on this article.

This “character injection” strategy happened to me again yesterday when I posted a comment about Obama. However, I first noticed this phenomenon last year when I would post a comment that was perfectly typo-free, but when it posted, would have several errors. Sometimes, you have the 15 minute edit option, and sometimes you do not, depending on where the comment is posted. If not, oh well! You look like an idiot! I would be interested to know how many people on TPN have experienced this very thing. Have you ever posted a comment that you really thought was typo-free, only to see several typos when the comment posted? Did you just think it was your own stupid mistake?

“Character Injection” is only one technological strategy that may easily be perpetrated on an online activist. It is perhaps also the most benign. Using other methods, such as something known as a “PXE Boot device,” hackers are able to load a piece of software onto a computer that enables them to not only access that computer at any given time, but to access the entire network to which the computer is connected. The PXE device loads from the BIOS and before the operating system. A PXE boot device enables the hacker to take control of the software, as well as the hardware of the computer. Why does this matter? Well, this device can spin the hard drive so fast and for so long that the hard drive actually burns up. How convenient! If an online activist gets to be too much of a threat, hackers are able to simply burn up their hard drive in a matter of minutes. This strategy has been around for a few years now. Some computers are easier to affect than others. I once had a Dell Inspiron 5100 laptop that burned through about five hard drives before I finally stopped using it. Come to find out, not only did the hardware actually have an excessive heat issue straight from the factory, but the issue was very easy to exploit using the PXE strategy.

The final strategy I will discuss in this piece is the use of the MAC addresses of wired and wireless cards. When you connect to the Internet, you connect using a wireless or wired card or device. Most laptops are now shipped with both wired and wireless cards built into the system. Each of these connectivity devices has a unique number, a MAC address, assigned to it. In late 2010, the Federal Communications Commission instituted a full-on power grab to be able to track and access each and every MAC address utilized to connect to the Internet. This power was granted to the FCC, and officially took effect on January 1, 2011. What does this mean? This simply means that your MAC addresses are recorded and tracked. This is great for tracking terrorists and evil-doers, but it is also being utilized to silence the First Amendment rights of regular citizens. If the Left does not approve of your online behavior, your MAC addresses are provided to law enforcement, banks, Leftie hackers, Google and who knows who else. This means that anywhere you go to connect to the Internet, your online activity is tracked and you are easily located. Go to Starbucks or McDonalds to get online - you can be easily located and tracked. But not only is your online behavior monitored, but your computer may be accessed via the MAC addresses of your connectivity devices. If you are targeted as I have been, this is a great way to follow you around and hack you from any location. Welcome to the Brave New World.

This list of technological strategies to silence conservatives is by no means a comprehensive one. These are simply the ones I have personally experienced. I have been a programmer for over 15 years and I am able to somewhat explain what is going on as I experience the issues. I feel that it is my duty to educate conservatives, Christians and Tea Partiers about what is being done to silence their First Amendment rights. I would be interested to know of any strange things that have happened to vocal Tea Party members as they attempt to share their ideas online. How many times have you experienced strange things while commenting or posting on TPN? How many times has your computer inexplicably crashed? Is your Internet connection painfully slow when it used to be super-fast? There is a good chance it is NOT a virus, at least not in the traditional sense. Maybe it is the virus of the Left attempting to suppress your freedom of speech. I wonder how many typos will pop up in this piece once published. Note that there are NONE as I have spell-checked repeatedly once I finished it.

I don't know how many times I've lost what I was typing in these blogs when the browser inexplicably flipped to another view, or it just refreshed for no reason. I too, am a programmer. Things like this don't happen for no reason. I am a careful typist. I know the hot keys for these shortcuts.

Jeff, there is SO MUCH more to the story. I wanted to post a fairly succinct account of what I have dealt with over the past year. You may notice that many of my comments and posts include the statement "Google is NOT YOUR FRIEND!" Well, sure you can search and find porn or illegal/pirated software. You can access all of the shady sites. But rest assured, you can and will be tracked. Most likely, if you pose no threat, you will never be bothered. But I obviously yanked some high-ranking chain. I remember posting some negative comments about Google. Soon afterward, all heck broke loose. Hmmmm. I wonder... (Not really, I absolutely know for sure..)

I just noticed that the HACKERS HAVE LEFT THE BUILDING!!! The hackers two doors down all took off at once when I posted the article! Funny, but that hasn't happened - well, EVER! This is the first time that not one hacker's car is over at the house two doors down! How Cool is that!!!

Wow! I didn't know I had so much power!  ...and from a thousand miles away!
That makes me a super hero, or something!

Ma'am, if I had hackers living by me, and they were monkeying with
me...well, let's just say that there are other ways of dealing with these
people. You need to befriend a few dirty-neck bikers!

Barring that, I'd recommend disconnecting from the network except when
you are transmitting, or when they are not at home. Do your writing in Word
and copy and paste when you want to post...then disconnect again.

Do you have DSL?

Look into getting a cellular connection...maybe a little harder to hack.
Then you can work from anywhere you can get a phone connection!

Hi Jeff, I am only connected to the internet for a few minutes at a time. I have hacked a Linux box that deletes everything they put on my machine each time I reboot. hehehe I have a few tricks up my sleeve.

Actually, these folks in the house two doors down had two large antenae removed last night. It was awesome to watch. My access to the internet is much more smooth today. (I do have a 3G cellular card which seems to make it harder for them to hack my connection.)

Not saying THESE hackers are hacking you. Believe me, there are plenty and they are everywhere. This group was imported.

However, since my post, most are gone. But there's still a gaggle of idiots that stalk my house. Note that street parking is not allowed in my neighborhood...much less parking on the grass. Here's a pic of what I awake to every morning.... Note the maroon truck parked in the yard... I hate that...Oh, and the second pic is one of my poor bushes... casualties of the war...

Oh, and regarding Bikers... If I knew any, I would have moved them in months ago. I did have someone come stay with me who, let's just say, was a bit intimidating. That did work for a while, but he had to go.

Another thing you could do is get a dedicated computer for the Internet and install a program called Clean Slate. Set it up the way you want it, and every time you reboot, any changes that were made to the system will be erased, even if you did it. The application returns the computer to its previous state. Of couse, this means you have to store your work on removable media.

PS - I like the gnome!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAH

NO ONE HAS SUPPRESSED ME YET AND IF THEY DID, I WOULD FIND A NEW SOURCE TO SPEAK MY MIND. LET'S SEE NOW...... OVER 10,000 E-MAILS TO THE WHITE HOUSE IN THE LAST 3 YEARS..... OVER 1,000 POSTERS THAT ARE ANTI-OBAMA, ON OVER 40 WEBSITES AROUND THE WORLD......

YA............. LOTS OF LUCK STOPPING ME! HAHAHAHAHA THEY ALREADY KNOW MY MAC ADDRESS AND OBAMA ALREADY HAS MY ADDRESS

Search engines can't find posters. You're not showing up on their radar.

Doc, you are under their radar! I was a web programmer with several web clients. All of those sites were destroyed. I was visible on the web, and easy to find via Google. Not any more! All of that is gone.

I love your MWAAAAAAAAA.... :-) Rock it, Doc. You are one of my faves on TPN!

Very interesting article, observations, and references TC, thanks.

The Chilling Effect, Peer Pressure, Mob Pressure, and Suppression is the lubricant of the engine that drives the left-wing juggernaut.

If we can find a way to deny them that, or refine our own we could go a long way to blunting their "progress".

It's disappointing that we seem entirely baffled by it's potency and utterly defenseless against it's effect.
