Less than 24 hours before the South Carolina primary, things have turned nasty.

An unknown group has sent out a spoofed email, claiming Newt Gingrich forced his second wife to have an abortion.

From the Daily Caller:

In the dead heat of the South Carolina primary race, Newt Gingrich’s resurgence is seeing the sort of dirty-tricks response that the Palmetto State is famous for. A second phony email surfaced Friday that claimed Gingrich forced his second wife Marianne to undergo an abortion.

An earlier email, distributed widely in South Carolina, appeared to come from CNN. The second one masqueraded as a message from the Gingrich presidential campaign itself.

“Newt Gingrich released the following statement regarding reports that he forced ex-wife Marianne Gingrich to terminate a pregnancy,” the phony email read, followed by a false statement from Gingrich:

I have said many times, including on the debate stage last night, that I am not a perfect human being and I have made mistakes in my life. This was one of them. I have had to apologize to God and to seek reconciliation. The fact is, I am not proud of some decisions I have made or actions I have taken, but I believe in the power of redemption and I trust the voters of South Carolina do as well.

Although Marianne Gingrich publicly claimed Thursday that Gingrich asked her to participate in an “open marriage,” she made no statement about having had an abortion.

Included in the email was the correct contact information of Gingrich press secretary R. C. Hammond.

The email’s graphics included a message claiming that it was “paid for by Newt 2012.” The sender substituted the number “1” in “2012” with a lowercase letter L.

The Romney campaign is well known for dirty tricks.  They did it in 2008 and are doing it again in 2012.

It speaks volumes to the character of the Romney campaign and Romney that these are the types of tactics they have to stoop to.

If someone has to use these kind of dirty tricks to become President, are they really the kind of person we want as President?

Like I said, what else is Romney hiding, and when they hide things they also will do things that is sneeky and wrong?
With  all the tings that he has changed especially his party, it doesn't appear that I can rely on this man. I want a man or woman for that matter that makes a stand and sticks with it. I understand people can sway or change their mind on occasion by 4 times changing his party, that's outragaious! Hello?

I was a Perry fan and hated to see him go; but when I am looking at this from a "must win stand point"; Newt is the man that I feel can do it. That man's tongue can cut like a saber, ask Juan Williams! Anyone who goes after him has their hands full. That is exactly what we need in our situation. We the People need to clean house, and Newt is the only one prepared to do so and should he waver we will hold his feet to the fire. We are a citizenry that has been pushed too far and too fast and we are MAD AS HELL!

As to Newt's baggage; give me a break! Do any of us have grounds to attack him....you know, the old 'you who has no sin...cast the first stone' fits real well here! In fact, he is one up on an awful lot of his detractors in that he has repented.

GO NEWT!

But Obama is pure... You can find no one in his past....at all

Pure? or purged? It is a case of destroying records with that bird (vulture)!

Obama, not Newt.

Exactly Barbara! I linked Obama above. Some nasty stuff is available....I simply thew in 200,000 links! Doesn't take much searching. And, the MSM will never report on it.

Charles, you just have to "dig" a little!

I think he just wants to get a rise.

AMEN Barbara.

Has ABC released the letters that Newt's kids wrote to them in rebuttal?

Charles, did you watch Fox last night they were on and support their father Newt.
