Sarah Said No.
I was not surprised Sarah Palin said no to our suggestion she run for the Chairman of the RNC. I was surprised at how quickly that “no” came.
The immediate result of our suggestion was obvious. Ninety percent of those who commented on Tea Party Nation thought that it was a great idea and wanted her to do it. About eight percent said no, she should wait and run for President. Then we had the two percent who were simply Palin haters.
Sarah Palin remains a rock star in this movement. That is why she would be such an exciting choice for the job. She would be a conservative leader of the Party, could make sure conservatives actually ran the party, as opposed to only giving conservatives lip service as the establishment RINOs currently do. She would be the symbol that the Tea Party brought the GOP back from the edge of oblivion.
However, Sarah said no, and we must move forward.
In the statement yesterday, she does not want the job, saying it was primarily a job as fundraiser in chief and there are others who would enjoy the job more and be better at it.
I don’t know about others being better at it but I certainly understand not taking a job you would not enjoy.
Capturing the Chairmanship of the RNC is important to the Tea Party movement. The Chairman is the face of the Party, especially when the Party is not in power and controls much of the party apparatus.
Fortunately for us, there is a conservative alternative: Saul Anuzis.
Saul who? That is the reaction from someone I was talking to yesterday about Saul. He is a solid conservative, just not very well known outside of GOP circles or outside of Michigan. He has been the chairman of the Republican Party in Michigan, where he was an amazing fundraiser and helped bring about a resurgence of the GOP in a traditionally very blue state. He has been a supporter of the Tea Party in Michigan.
Two things I have said before. First, I do not want the GOP taking over the Tea Party; I want the Tea Party taking over the GOP. Second, there is a battle for the heart and soul of the Republican Party. It is a battle between the old establishment, which is often little more than dem-lite, and the conservative Tea Party wing. This is a battle the conservative wing of the party must win.
We need a conservative in as Chair of the RNC. If not, we will end up with the same class of GOP knuckleheads that blew it so badly in 2006 and 2008.
If we do not win this battle for the heart and soul of the GOP, we will end up with either a second Obama term or perhaps as bad, a Romney presidency. The 2013-15 time is our only window to actually repeal Obama care and the other parts of his socialist programs. If we do not do it then, it will never happen.
And we will never be able to do that if we do not win control of the Republican Party. Sarah Palin has said she is not interested in that job. Saul Anuzis is.
