Sarah Said No.

I was not surprised Sarah Palin said no to our suggestion she run for the Chairman of the RNC.   I was surprised at how quickly that “no” came.

The immediate result of our suggestion was obvious.  Ninety percent of those who commented on Tea Party Nation thought that it was a great idea and wanted her to do it.  About eight percent said no, she should wait and run for President.  Then we had the two percent who were simply Palin haters.

Sarah Palin remains a rock star in this movement.   That is why she would be such an exciting choice for the job.  She would be a conservative leader of the Party, could make sure conservatives actually ran the party, as opposed to only giving conservatives lip service as the establishment RINOs currently do.  She would be the symbol that the Tea Party brought the GOP back from the edge of oblivion.

However, Sarah said no, and we must move forward.

In the statement yesterday, she does not want the job, saying it was primarily a job as fundraiser in chief and there are others who would enjoy the job more and be better at it.

I don’t know about others being better at it but I certainly understand not taking a job you would not enjoy.

Capturing the Chairmanship of the RNC is important to the Tea Party movement.   The Chairman is the face of the Party, especially when the Party is not in power and controls much of the party apparatus.

Fortunately for us, there is a conservative alternative: Saul Anuzis.

Saul who?  That is the reaction from someone I was talking to yesterday about Saul.  He is a solid conservative, just not very well known outside of GOP circles or outside of Michigan.    He has been the chairman of the Republican Party in Michigan, where he was an amazing fundraiser and helped bring about a resurgence of the GOP in a traditionally very blue state.  He has been a supporter of the Tea Party in Michigan.

Two things I have said before.  First, I do not want the GOP taking over the Tea Party; I want the Tea Party taking over the GOP. Second, there is a battle for the heart and soul of the Republican Party.    It is a battle between the old establishment, which is often little more than dem-lite, and the conservative Tea Party wing.   This is a battle the conservative wing of the party must win.

We need a conservative in as Chair of the RNC.   If not, we will end up with the same class of GOP knuckleheads that blew it so badly in 2006 and 2008.

If we do not win this battle for the heart and soul of the GOP, we will end up with either a second Obama term or perhaps as bad, a Romney presidency.  The 2013-15 time is our only window to actually repeal Obama care and the other parts of his socialist programs.  If we do not do it then, it will never happen.

And we will never be able to do that if we do not win control of the Republican Party.   Sarah Palin has said she is not interested in that job.  Saul Anuzis is.

May I also recommend Herman Cain? He is a strong Tea Party supporter
While I understand compromise and that is what we have to do to get things done, the Tea Party has to take over the GOP and let them know that the way they have caved in to the liberals is not what we want. We need people who will stand up for the conservatives.
There must be a respected, fresh face for our party.
As noted yesterday, Sarah might find the position too restrictive. And most RINOs would oppose her!
To date, Saul is the only person I've seen that can and will do the job giving his heart and soul to the effort.
The Chairmanship of the RNC is a titular position. The Chairman IS the fundraiser in chief, but he/she is controlled by a committee. It is the public face of the Party but not the policy maker. The policy makers currently are the Moderate (socialist lite) faction. The very faction that we need to defeat.

After the 2008 elections, as you know, there was a mass migration of Conservative donors from the RNC. Many of us chose to give directly to the candidates of OUR choice, or we gave to PACs that better represented us. The RNC suffered a substantial loss of revenue. I say continue to starve them while they continue to work against and not support Conservative candidates. The poorer they are, the less harm they can cause us.

We have to take back the Repub Party from the ground up. Taking over Precinct seats and Committees. Thereby pushing forward Conservative candidates to the local, State and National races, and continuing to replace RINOs with Conservatives in the House and Senate.

For Sarah to have taken the RNC Chairmanship, if it were even offered, would have effectively sidelined her and made her a money making tool for our political enemies in the hierarchy of the Repub Party, in my opinion.
Bruce,

Well stated and entirely correct. I have been politically active and have always given to the RNC until last year. I to gave directly to the candidates.
Could not have said it better!!! By 2012 the majority will vote for her, after this regime is done trying to destroy our Nation. We will ALL be begging for a Conservative! Personally I would like to seea Boulton/Palin ticket....
This is like a decision on whether to do a hostile takeover of a bankrupt shell corporation and rebuild it or start a new company. Aslo, do we want to hire a failed vice chaiman of another company to run it?
Bruce, some VERY good points!
You have the brightest idea i have read yet. We do not need a solid figure head and a rotting corpse. We need to replace the entire Republican party with Tea Party conservatives from the ground up, only then can we place the capstone of a conservative on that work. To do so now would bring ridicule and shame to the Tea Party as everything we stand for would be undermined by the committee, let them keep committing political suicide. Tea Party Patriots, STARVE the BEAST. Weaken it to it's knees!!!
Bruce, You are so right on. Could have said it better. I would love to see her in some influencial post, not President but something. We are having the same problem in the state of Maine. "White Glove" Republicans poo pooing the Tea Party, smiling to the face and smirking behind their backs. But we have a GOP Governor, Senate, and House at this moment and the Rhinos are on notice. Also, many will not donate to the Party only to candidates. They don't like the politics as usual.
