President Obama has just said that First Ladies should be paid for their services. Now let me see if I understand. The taxpayer who is trying to keep his home after having no job for at least 99 weeks of unemployment is to ante up a little more so Moochelle and her successors get paid a salary for theiir service.
Mr. President, I agree. However, you may wish to maintain the status quo. I propose giving the First Lady a salary equal to 50% of the President's salary. However, the First Lady would pay her own way on vacation trips to Spain, Great Britain, Hawaii, Vale, the Hamptons, and all other destinations not involving specific First Lady "duties." And those "duties" would consist almost entirely of representing us a funerals for foreign dignitaries.
And the First Lady would pay for lodging at the destinations for herself and her friends and family. The Secret Service contingent would be funded by the taxpayers. And the First Lady would pay the $80,000 or so per hour for the Air Force jet on which she rides, not the economy class fare often used for reimbursement by government employees.
This would serve two purposes. It would keep the First Lady from being frivoulous with taxpayer dollars, and it would keep her close to you for her invaluable service in advising you on the economy.
Permalink Reply by Taylor Wedgeworth on Not sure if I can agree with you Walter. Half of OBAMMA's salary would be $200,000 annually. If we charged her $80,000 per hour of use of Airforce One or Marine One, she would be bankrupt within a day! Then she'd just pass her debt off to us taxpayers.
Last time I checked, the “Paycheck Fairness Act” was a Left-supported bill, and that's not something that we should be supporting.
Before we support just any First Lady receiving a salary, we should test it with a Republican First Lady.

There is no legal reason I can think of that prevents the First Lady from becoming White House staff or a Presidential Advisor.. Except, that is not what Obama wants. He wants to create another government job so that he can say that HE created a job! Except, of course, that the numbers of real workers who make the money to pay for all those government jobs keeps going down. Which means that any new government position is automatically going to add to the deficit. Not that either of the Obamas is concerned about THAT!

Thanks to obama(don't)care, they are hiring 22,000 new IRS workers to enforce penelties on people who don't have (or don't want) health care insurance. This is the Chicago way. Pay up taxpayers, so that the obama mofia can enjoy the fruits of our labor.
