Last night Mitt Romney was circulating with the exuberance of an Irish Setter, just released from a dog crate strapped to the top of a car. The Romney sympathetic media, that being the liberal media who want to see him against Obama and the establishment conservative media who are in the tank for him, are overjoyed.
They are spinning Illinois as Romney’s final, long overdue breakout that spells then end for the conservative opposition to the liberal Romney. There was a winner in Illinois last night and it was not Mitt Romney.
Who was it?
It was Rick Perry.
What?
Yes, that Rick Perry. The Governor of Texas, who dropped out of the race months ago, still pulled over 1% of the vote. Romney got roughly 428,000 votes. Perry got almost 5500 votes. Perry who is out of the race, who did not make an appearance in Illinois, who has endorsed another candidate, still pulled in 1% of the vote.
If the Republican establishment had any intelligence, and yes we are clearly assuming facts not in evidence for that statement, they would be pulling out all of the stops to ensure that Mitt Romney is not the nominee.
Illinois is a true foreshadowing of the disaster that will be a Romney nomination. Romney finished the night with 47% of the vote. Santorum had 35%. Ron Paul 9% and Newt Gingrich 8%. Non-candidate Rick Perry had 1%.
In order to win, Romney out spent Santorum 7-1 in the state overall and 21-1 in the Chicago area.
Mitt Romney’s great claim to fame is he is a business guy. Bain Capital invested in companies and looked for a return on investment. Let’s use that as a standard for the race. Who is winning that way? Perry had the absolute best results because he got a significant return on no investment. Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich also invested little but got quite a bit for their investment. Even Rick Santorum was a better investment that Mitt Romney.
This is the consistent pattern for Mitt Romney in his victories. He outspends his opponents 5-1 or greater. Even with that massive spending, he cannot break 50%. Illinois was supposed to be that magic night where Romney broke the 50% mark. He did not do it.
In Illinois, he had one serious challenger. That was Rick Santorum. Newt Gingrich spent little time and even less of his dwindling money in Illinois. Neither did Ron Paul. They had small but respectable showings.
More alarming was the poll from CBS News that showed over 40% of those who voted for Romney were not thrilled with their choices. Why would almost 5500 Republicans vote for a guy who is not even running anymore unless they were sending a message to the party?
If the leadership of the party does not see the slow motion train wreck that is coming, they are not only blind but their brain cells are on the endangered species list. If the leadership of the party is even thinking, they would realize what a disaster Romney is and start doing everything in their power to engineer a deadlocked convention.
In about three weeks, we will observe an interesting anniversary. It will be the one hundred year anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. The Republican Party is like the Titanic, handing the keys of the ship over to Captain Mitt Romney. The Party is ordering full speed ahead and we are about to hit a major iceberg.
The Republican Party is the Party of Reagan and Lincoln. If we cannot find a good nominee to face Obama in the election this fall, we are giving the nation four more years of an anti-American Marxist.
If that happens, we will need to start looking for the political lifeboats and we may even have to start looking for some real lifeboats out of Obama’s America.

Thanks Gary for this video. The late Paul Harvey was one in a million. How is it that some of us get it and the masses of the world don't?

Never looking forward or for a better solution. Every morning I wake up (which is wonderful at my age) I wonder who I can beat up today and convince them of their errant ways and help put them on a path to recovery. I send a lot of news items via e-mail to 75 or so people and a lot of them forward those on. Before i was laid off from work last year, I was always involved in politics, for myself, not for others. This past year I've gone to the point of taking on others to vote and get involved. I feel good! I would feel better if Newt was setting higher, but still believe that he will be there in the end.
God Bless

Permalink Reply by Marcia Wood on March 24, 2012 at 12:32am I hope you're all watching Rush Limbaugh on Greta tonight - I believe in my heart everything he's saying and that's why I blog daily.
Marcia
Rush gives the best analysis of Obamas' actions. The bottom line is that he has been taught from birth to hate America, That most if not all of the worlds problems have been caused by America, that he is determined to teach us a lesson, that his much vaunted intellect is a myth, that he has never had meaningfull interaction with the free market system (he has never held a job), that his utilization of Alinsky tactics does not equate to a being true marxist/socialist ideallog....Rushs' precise words would be helpful.

Actually you are VERY accurate on the excitement of an Irish Setter and that's how Romney was acting. Boomer looks just like that when we get back from getting the mail. Romney is useless and he knows that most TRUE Americans are not fond of him (Sorry Mom and Dad) Irish Setters are wonderful and hyper dogs that need Freedom, so the excitment explaination ends with Mittens who is not happy hyper nor does he like Freedom Very much, perhaps that's why he tied his dog's cage to the roof of his CAR! ;)
