Rick Santorum has been called many things over the long months of the presidential campaign. How about this? Rick Santorum, the anti-Reagan.
What could that mean?
Rick Santorum is certainly no Ronald Reagan, at least on some of his policies, but that is not what makes him the anti-Reagan.
Ronald Reagan was the great communicator. He could say anything and make it sound good. Rick Santorum seems to be just the opposite. He makes some good points but too often makes a bad sound bite for a good point.
Most recently, he did that yesterday. Trying to capitalize on the Romney campaign screw up of saying the campaign would be reset like an etch a sketch as soon as the campaign was over, Santorum said, "You win by giving people the opportunity to see a different vision for our country, not someone who’s just going to be a little different than the person in there. If you’re going to be a little different, we might as well stay with what we have instead of taking a risk with what may be the Etch A Sketch candidate of the future.”
Santorum was immediately pilloried for suggesting that Barack Obama would be a better choice that Mitt Romney. Even Newt Gingrich piled on.
However, despite the gaffe by Santorum, he makes a good point. Romney is scarcely any less liberal than Barack Obama.
Yes, Obama is an anti-American Marxist, but that is the difference. While Romney probably would not unilaterally disarm America, and we hope he would not reveal some of our most important secrets to the Russians, Romney is as liberal as Obama in most policy areas.
Romney is the father of Obamneycare as Tim Pawlenty called him in during the early debates. He gave Massachusetts cap and trade. He raised taxes and increased welfare spending and when he had a chance to give Massachusetts residents a break on high gas taxes by suspending the Massachusetts gas tax, he refused. He said he wanted to see high prices drive consumption down.
Anyone know who else has said something like that?
Barack Obama.
The point Santorum was trying to make was that we gain nothing if we nominate a Republican who is as far to the left as most of the Obama Regime.
He is right about that.
This is why we must fight Romney’s nomination and still find a way to stop him. If Romney is elected, we will not see any meaning cuts in spending or in the entitlement sector of the budget. Romney claims he will be able to manage it better.
No he won’t.
You cannot manage big government. Either you dismantle big government or big government consumes freedom and prosperity.
It is an either or proposition.
Newt Gingrich understands this. Although he seems to express it badly, it looks like Rick Santorum understands it too.
Mitt Romney does not and will simply keep America on the Barack Obama road to fiscal collapse.

Permalink Reply by Randers Belt on March 28, 2012 at 10:22am I totally agree. Extremist are never the majority and in free nations they possess minority power. Most people are turned off by what they perceive as radical. Personally I would be turned off by someone coming to my door unannounced to verify my political party affiliation. If you are aware of an instance of voter fraud you should report it but to go randomly door to door to seek it out is over the top IMHO. Whichever party the door knocker is affiliated would be irrelavant to me. I would view their action as being a bit radical giving me a negative impression of the party.
Permalink Reply by MaryJo Morse on March 24, 2012 at 3:17pm For once these two gentlemen make sense when it comes to Mitt Romney and President Obama and "Obamacare". Romneycare set a president for Obamacare.....Governor Romney flip-flops too much when it comes to Pro-Life and Pro-Choice.... The Governor is too chancy for our country and we need to become more focused on what this nominee we are about to nominate for the highest office in the land stands for....Do they coincide with what our forefathers had in mind for this great country of ours.....We are at a crossroads and this is not the time to speculate....It is our Constitution, Bill of Rights, principles, moral - values and most of all FAITH IN GOD.......HE needs to come back to the core of our policies......Our national flag, the Pledge of Allegiance should be recited in every classroom in our schools and again go over what our flag represents and why it is so important....To allow our flag to be burned just because someone or some group is frustrated is nothing more than disrespect for our young men and women who have not only served in our military but who have given their utmost sacrifice their lives in order that our country remain FREE. ( All this under the guise of FREE SPEECH.! ! )
Permalink Reply by thomas walthouse on March 24, 2012 at 5:44pm I understand that there is going to be a lot of different oppinions back and forth on the candidates running, but when this process is over we must unite behind the nominee. If the nominee is not the person you supported in the beginning, then it is important to still get out to the polls and vote for the republican nominee.
Permalink Reply by MaryJo Morse on March 25, 2012 at 6:20pm All the more reason we must choose wisely this November at election time.......Who will be the best candidate of all to win back our much befuddled, bruised and abused America? That is the question we must all contemplate between now and next November.....
Stay focused and keep your eyes on the prize A M E R I C A'S F R E E D O M / L I B E R T Y , is at stake.
I think it's a little more complex than that. We had two presidents Clinton and Obama whose main goals were to divide us at every turn, class warfare, racism, wrongful accusations, the constant blame game of the opposition party etc.
They both believed to divide us because that means America falls. Why you may ask, to control us and chisel away at our individual freedoms.
I truly believe even Reagan would have a tough time today to unite us in such a short time after these two destroyed our trust. Just as JFK, who in his time was a conservative democrat would be booted out by the left, today.
We need conservatives in all levels of government. Romney is not a conservative.
Permalink Reply by Katie Kalpin on March 28, 2012 at 10:35am I have to say that I was shocked that Santorum said that. But Romney would be like voting in Obama. It is sacry, but however I do believe that we can control him easily. He is a push over or should I say he is weak. If we do to him what we did to Obama we can fix him. He wants to prove that he is a Republican then he has to listen to us. So I am some what hopeful! Romney is scum, but he is better than obama...a little bit. lol. I still want Newt.
