If Richard Lugar had his way, this blog would be illegal. In fact, for a time, thanks to the crown prince of the RINO’s this blog would have been illegal.
What is going on?
In 2002, the powers that be in Washington, in the halls of Congress got upset with us little people and some corporations too. It seems they did not like the free speech guarantees given by the Constitution so they wanted to circumvent them.
The circumvention was a law that became known as McCain-Feingold, after its two principle sponsors. The technical name of the bill was the Bi-Partisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002.
This law was bi-partisan in that incumbents of both parties did not like being criticized nor did they like threats to their jobs. They did not like the fact that thanks to the Internet, criticism of them could go viral. They did not like the fact that groups could buy ads demanding that these “public servants” be fired by the people at election time.
Part of McCain-Feingold prohibited “electioneering communications” within 60 days of a primary or 30 days of a general election. Electioneering communications meant a communication, like this blog, that called for the election or a defeat of a specific candidate. When I publish this blog, which calls not only for Lugar’s defeat but a humiliating defeat and for the election of a real patriot, namely Richard Mourdock, under McCain-Feingold I would be in violation of the law.
Thanks to Richard Lugar, that bill became law.
Thanks to the United States Supreme Court in the Citizens United Decision, the law was ruled to be unconstitutional.
I’m not sure which is more terrifying. The fact that these clowns we refer to as Senators and Congressmen thought that passing such a blatantly unconstitutional law was a good idea or the fact that Citizens United was only a 5-4 Supreme Court decision.
We have a huge problem in this nation. The out of control spending that we see is only a symptom. America has created a governing class that now believes the nation is of them, by them and for them.
Richard Lugar is a poster child for this problem.
Lugar has abused the system in almost every way possible, from moving to Washington and not living in his home state since 1977, to the countless trips he has taken at government expense to even having the taxpayers pick up the costs for hotels when he returns to what is allegedly his home state.
When the Tea Party movement got started, one of the slogans is “Revolution is brewing.” It is time for a revolution. It is time to throw out these poster children of the government class and start over again with real Americans who understand they are going to Washington to serve the people, not to take advantage of the people.
Hey Lugar. I call for your defeat and the election of Richard Mourdock. It is within 60 days of a primary too! Too bad your law was declared unconstitutional.
McCain-Feingold was a disgrace and so are you. Indiana needs to send you packing and hopefully on May 8th the good people of Indiana will humiliate you at the polls and send you into a long overdue retirement.
Money and influence talk. The longer they stay the more they have. We need to repeal the 17th amendment and have the states select and recall senators - we can't wait 6+ + 6+ + 6+ years when they don't follow the will of the state they represent.
Lugar is on his way out.
We need to send them ALL packing... remove both political parties as that is what today's Washington is all about - NOT the United States OR US , force term limits, recall legislation in all 50 states starting at the state level, remove all congressional immunities across the board, and end congressional retirements ... until WE teach THEM who is in charge... THEY will continue to abuse the system, us, and our nation... and if left unchecked, we all know what will happen. Hopefully the Tea Party will get organized enough to create more havoc than it already has in Washington - to include being able to nullify both political parties as they now stand...
Goooh dot com ! Get Out f Our House ! We have citizen selected candidates running in Texas & Florida. Please support this system to get rid of the Career Politicians. Goooh candidates are legally committed to term limits of 2 terms, just like the founders intended. They are also legally committed to vote the way they promised to while campaigning or they get replaced immediately. All career Politicians must go. Its time to end the Good Ole Boy Club in DC and all of the go along to get along spineless Cowards who do nothing to bring justice to the Criminal In Chief and his staff of Gangsters. I am Outraged !
It won't do any good, now that the Soros owned company in Spain is counting our votes. Judy we need to stop this crime. We can count our own votes here in America.
We already have term limits! It's called the election system...and gives us the right to retain the few good representatives if we so choose. It is the system, as created by our Founding Fathers.
"We have given you a Republic. It remains to be seen if you will be able to retain it." - Benjamin Franklin
Just another thought (not with Vern's post). Term limits would require an amendment to the Constitution. If we are not willing to hold members of the Congress to their constitutional obligations now, what makes us think we will do it another obligations. How about we start holding them accountable to their current obligations.
Vern, I've got to disagree that ".....we already have term limits." In theory, yes, but in practice, no! Evidenced by Lugar, Pelosi, Boxer, Boehner, McConnell, Shumer, Hatch, etc. Incumbents have a 98% advantage in elections. The LACK of term limits gives us the political establishment that has turned Washington, DC into the headquarters of organized crime in the USA. Need I bother to mention such entrenched "establishment" figures such as Kennedy, Byrd, Thurmond, Helms, Johnson, etc.?
Yes, Benjamin, you and the rest of our Founding Fathers gave us a Republic ~~ we're allowing it to slip through our hands into the hands of socialists/progressives/communists.....
One of the ways to retain our grip is the implementation of TERM LIMITS!!!
It's just ONE of the ways ~~ but high priority!!!
Agreed, James....in part.
Note also that I've opposed the Gooh approach, since it's inception! Why?
And, most importantly, we continue to elect some thieves. Imagine that from day one they realized they had only four years to feather their nests. How much worse would their performance be, with such term limits?
The split is coming!
Republicans like Lugar, Olympia Snowe and Arlen Specter have misrepresented the ideals of real Constitutional Conservatives. We can add Colin Powell, William Weld and Charlie Crist to that list. They have also been called, "Republicrats. They represent the past. Lugar tops the list. His time has passed.

A top director at a venture capital firm that finances a controversial new online voting system donated to Barack Obama’s presidential campaign and also contributed the maximum allowable to Obama’s inauguration, KleinOnline has learned.
The internationally-headquartered company, SCYTL, has previously faced questions about the security of its electronic voting technologies, which are now set to be deployed in 900 U.S. jurisdictions.
The firm already provides balloting for overseas U.S. military and civilian voting in nine states plus elections technologies in several districts.
Concerns have also been raised about SCYTL’s ties to the Spanish government and to international venture capital firms.
The Drudge Report yesterday ran a feature entitled, “Foreign company buys U.S. election results reporting firm.” The article documented that SCYTL, based in Barcelona, acquired 100% of SOE Software, the leading software provider of election management solutions in the United States.
The official press release announcing the acquisition noted that SCYTL is a portfolio company of leading international venture capital funds Nauta Capital, Balderton Capital and Spinnaker.
Spinnaker Capital manages $5 billion in two funds specializing in emerging markets investments.
