Obamacare is dead. Or it will be when the Supremes finally administer the coup de grace. So what comes after Obamacare?
Would you believe Boehnercare?
What is it?
It is the plan that is now circulating for when the Supremes strike down Obamacare. The Republicans want to take the “popular” aspects of Obamacare and make them Boehnercare.
Is brain death a prerequisite for becoming a leader in the Republican Party?
Mr. Boehner, if Obamacare is unconstitutional, what the hell makes you think your version of it will be?
The Republicans want to bribe the voters with the so-called popular provisions, such as allowing your kids to live in your basement and stay on your insurance until they are 26 or the coverage of preexisting conditions.
Allegedly they want to keep healthcare affordable.
If you want to make healthcare affordable, there is one foolproof system that will work every time. It is called the free market.
It works.
Not only does it work, we have proof. If you need to see the free market at work, look at vision correction, AKA Lasik.
When Lasik first appeared on the scene, treatments cost $10,000. Today it is $199 an eye and the doctor will finance it for you.
Why?
It is simple. Health insurance does not cover Lasik. Health insurance distorts and destroys the free market. Healthcare consumers neither know nor care what the costs of healthcare are. All they know is what their copay and deductable are. That is it.
The Republicans in Washington are talking about using government to try and keep healthcare costs down. If you are not terrified of that, you should be.
Washington’s competence ends at the level of managing a two-moon outhouse.
If Boehner and company pander this way, all we will be getting is Obamacare lite. Government is never the solution. It is the problem.
All this proves is that Boehner and company are big government Republicans. There is no commitment on their part to reduce the size of government. We can’t even afford the level of government we currently have.
Our debt exceeds that of all of Europe combined. Debt is a far greater enemy than the lack of a government healthcare program.
When will the Republicans ever learn?
They have bought into the myth that we must make certain that everyone has health insurance.
WRONG!
Health Insurance is what is making healthcare more expensive. Healthcare is not the issue. Making healthcare inexpensive so that the average American can pay out of their pocket. The Republicans have fallen for it. The debate should be how could we use the free market to make medical care affordable, more efficient and more cutting edge.
By buying into the left’s line that the issue is the number of uninsured, we have lost.
If the Republicans put parts of Obamacare back in, this time as Boehnercare, we will destroy the budget and we will set the platform for socialist healthcare in ten years.
It will just be easier for them next time.

Permalink Reply by Herrmann Glockler on April 22, 2012 at 10:04pm As long as we are using medical insurance to pays for doctor visit for sniffles, we never get health care cost in line.
The solution is a combination of personal responsibility for expenses up to at least $500a visit, and annual maximum expenses on a sliding scale before insurance kicks in, in combination with sliding scale insurance premium.
I am sure that many doctors will then cut their fees for routine visits, to avoid billing the insurance.
The cash for payments comes from Medical Savings account, an account that accrues over time, similar to an 401 retirement account, ideally opened when the person is still young and healthy, allowing for tax free accrual of reserves.
Insurance only kicks in when the annual deductible is exhausted
The second change that needs to happen is making treatment in emergency room for walk in traffic optional to the provider.
No minimal health insurance, no guaranteed treatment.
But especially, no treatment in an emergency room for non-emergency cases.
Right now government mandates treatment of every walk in , irrespective of medical condition.
The government is telling those who are likely to abuse the system to go head, abuse the system, we will protect you.
The government tells those who are not abusing the system, "You are suckers for paying for it.
I suppose it would be expecting too much to wean people off the idea of medical insurance being a "necessity". Failing that, whatever method is adopted there has to be incentive for the 'patient' to exercise prudence. The patient has to be the gatekeeper or you're just inviting abuse.
When he was Speaker, Newt Gingrich outlined a medical savings account that did exactly that and would have provided universal coverage while saving billions of dollars because it gave the patient a monetary stake in the matter. As Newt pointed out, there is no reason not to provide some form of centralized medical assistance if that's what the people want because we are a very rich nation. (...or would be if we weren't being strangled by the thugs in the WH.)

Buy yourself a copy of the Miracle Food Cures from the Bible by Reese Dubin (Amazon.com - $7.00 paperback).
One simple example: Large Black Spot with eye on upper right shoulder. Doctor watched for 15 years to be sure it is not cancerous. Cut open a clove of garlic, rubbed it daily for less than 90 days, and it is totally gone. So are several large moulds and so called aging spots. No money for a doctor and about $3.00 for a bag of garlic. Cholesterol at 273 in 1977 (have a copy of medical record at home). Cholesterol in 2000 273. Cholesterol in 2011 273. Alergic to statin and gemfiberzol (sp) based crap. 6K Garlic capsules daily for 90 days and cholesterol lowered to 225. (Incidentally: National Health had the bar for Cholesterol Measurement at 300 in 1977.) They apparently lower it as the new meds come out and they push for more money in their tills.
Trust Pharmacuticals and Doctors like you trust politicians. (They both bare watching).
Create your own WHO CARE Program.
When I was a kid 60 yrs ago we paid doctor and hospital bills out of pocket. Maybe the family chipped in if it was something extraordinary. But for the most part Americans were a pretty healthy bunch. When the heck did we get so sick that "healthcare" has become - literally - a federal case?!
We didn't. For 50 years we've been swallowing the insurance salesman's pitch. As I calculate it was about 50 years ago that "medical benefits" became institutionalized by becoming part of "employment packages". Again, as I calculate, it was unions that got that foot in the door. Other employers had to offer benefits to compete for personnel. A friend recently told me that his company had offered benefits to keep unions out. So either way unions drove the escalation of insurance coverage and the commensurately higher prices that go with a 3rd party payer. I assume by now you are familiar with the 45 Communist Goals? Check number 32 and you will see most of us have been led right down the primrose path!
For most of my life I worked in the family business or was self-employed. If I'd paid for health insurance all those years I'd be thousands of dollars poorer today with not a thing to show for it! If I needed a doctor I PAID FOR IT! If I needed glasses I PAID FOR THEM! And I'm still money ahead because I didn't give it away to insurance companies to build big, fancy buildings with. Am I the only one who has noticed the big, fancy buildings? Where do you think the money came from to build them?
I did the math a long time ago, i.e., the cost of even a very basic policy compared to my actual expenditures on medical care. The difference was astonishing! Am I the only person in America who enjoys reasonably good health?! Why pay exorbitant fees to a company on the basis of "What if..." so they can build more big, fancy buildings when I can take care of myself for a much cheaper cost? Their fancy building is not my concern.
I realize I'm out of step with mainstream America. These days having medical insurance is an article of faith, being without it is heresy. So call me a heretic! Before I get a lot of blowback about the "risk" I'm taking I'll point out it's nowhere near the risks my great-great-grandma took pushing westward to settle this great land. I'm at peace with my decision.
Permalink Reply by Janet Dobbs on April 22, 2012 at 11:22pm The GOP headed by Boehner are stupid. They shouldn't touch healthcare reform now with a ten foot pole! Sometimes I actually think Boehner and the rest of the GOP want to lose the election and give Obama and his cronies another 4 years to finish their destruction of America.
Bad enough Romney and his Romneycare remove the leverage the GOP would have against Obama, now they want to double-down on that. Pure insanity.
Permalink Reply by Sumsanity on April 22, 2012 at 11:45pm Once again I ask you, who is the party of treason? I'd say its Washington DC. I warned any one listening they would try this in order to get support from the wishy washy libs. A politician's first and formost concern is: stay in office. It colors their thoughts and motivates their every action. It is a major flaw in our form of government and leads to institutionalized corruption we suffer from today.
Oh and stay tuned for "Debt Crisis II" the sequel, coming soon to a tv screen near you as soon as the current continuing resolution to raise the debt ceiling expires.
